I live in the RGV so South Padre is just a normal part of my life. If your a visitor, SPI is a great family vacation spot, with the exception of Spring Break of course:] As far as souvenir shops, my favorite has to be Wings. Once you start looking through all the shops, you'll realize that they all have the same things. Restaurants? I like Blackbeards and Dirty Al's the best, or in Port Isabel, the Lost Galleon. All in all, it's a really cool, laid-back kinda place :D

Ah, the island. I'm kind of a "local". I live not far from the island, and we go every summer. It's absolutely beautiful.

I love south Padre Island, especially if you go to the beaches on the end of the island, like sooooooooooo farrrrrrrrrrr away from the malls and resurants the beaches are to die for, and are soooo relaxing and peacefull and hardly no one is over there because it's deserted...

I was there last year with my grandma because she grew up like 20 minutes away and it was so amazing. I've been to a handful of beaches here in california and none of them compare imo.

i live 30 mins away in harlingen texas. I love south padre. oh one question is that shrimp from dirty ale's it looks like it. TIP FOR EVERY ONE GOING HERE. THE BEST SEE FOOD ON THE ISLAND IS AT DIRTY ALE'S RESTURAUNT. IT IS ON THE SOUTH PART OF THE ISLAND. ACCROSS FROM SHLITERBAUN WATER PARK. THERE IS USUALY ABOUT AN HOUR WAIT THOUGH BUT IT IS WORTH IT. I GO THERE EVERY WEEKEND.

Okay now I'm homesick for my Lone Star State. South Padre is the BEST. It has the Fl. Keys Beat. I agree with 2stepqri. And voodoo, the people are friendly and the state has the prettiest women you ever seen, I know cause I am one!! Yes "God Blessed Texas."
