The guitar part is a bit too strummy for my taste, but still very good. Love how the oud part captures the spirit of the original synth-guitar part. One of my top 5 KC songs. I'd love to hear a complete version. Thanks!
I hope you'll do more King Crimson music. I'd love to see Matte Kudesai, One Time, Walking On Air, I Talk to the Wind... eh... that's good for now. : )
I don't have really any experience listening to oud, so I don't know if I can comment on it's tuning accurately, but it does sound a little flat relative to the guitar.
That being said, I think this is an amazing idea and performance, and I would love to hear more of this kind of combination. Keep it up!
I love re-arrangements and to use an Oud is something I must commend you for. Although the intonation on the Oud is out in a couple of places, the idea is fantastic and well executed.
King Crimson on a Selmer-style guitar and oud, that's what I called innovative! Lucky to find this extravaganza on YouTube off one of the few really creative and groundbreaking albums of the eighties. Don't cool off with those posts! :)
Sounds marvellous! Awesome, thanks!

@alkh0bani The oud IS tuned but he immitates what A. Belew plays on his guitar with lots of effects. Listen to the original!

Well done, I really love the soft, melodic and haunting sound of the oud, especially when it's used in this context :)

what are you using as a pick?
deaucey 2 years ago
The pick used on the oud is called a risha. Traditionally an eagle quill, these days made out of plastic!
