Schade, das er so jung verstarb.

  • nice

  • Hie yie yie..... Just try to watch this and remain dry-eyed.... won't happen.

  • I too am so sorry I never met this man while he was living. I have performed Irish Folk music all my life and I doubt that I could possibly be further from any Hawaiian music or experience, but this man has touched me deeply. His music and feeling transends all distances and backgrounds. As a tribute to Iz, I am planning my next vacation on Kauai. I am inspired by him and will look for his footprints on the sands of the island he loved.

  • Saludos from Mexico...

  • Yes...to all races your ancestors are linked and they are forever! AWESOME MAN>>AWESOME SONG

  • I have said this Before in other posts on this site....Bruddah IZ Is and Was and Still IS Hawaii's treasure...I never met Him and I regret that I nevert got the chance but I have been a singer/ entertainer for many many years 38 as a Fact and This Man Is in my Opinon,One of the Greatest singer entertainers in the whole world...He had the Rare ability to make you feel what he sang and he ranks high in the Very Few entertainers who could do this....God Bless You bruddah IZ and thank You!

  • How could anyone not be touched by this? Especially when the Makaha Sons joined Iz on stage. Braddah Iz is truly missed.

  • 53 people must be deaf! You don't need to know the language to understand music. Live on IZ

  • RIP.

Dang, he got tons of people in the audience crying! I'm part hawai'ian, but I don't know a lot about the culture... but IZ got me understanding the true meaning of aloha spirit. Mahalo for posting this. Proud to be from Hawai'i!

  • @sarahgripe IZ and his brother Skippy were part of a group called the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau, they formed when they were still in their teens. They were making music and CD's in the early 70's. For 20 years they made quite a few albums, you can't mistake their style, their harmonizing. They broke up in 1993, and IZ went solo. The others remained the Makaha Sons. On this Awards night the Makaha Sons join him on stage. People cry because they know the pain, the love, the reunion. He dies next year

  • crying

  • so beautiful...I hope Mr. Kamakawiw'ole will be singing in heaven when i get there

  • There's a certain sensation I get in my throat when I'm moved by a song. I have that sensation right now.

  • what a pleasure to listen and meet you again IZ

    thanksssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    for uploading

  • WOW That are emotions!! Great performance!!

  • BEAUTIFULL! Listening to his true words speach in the beggining brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful talent! RIP

  • Oh by the way in reading just a couple or so other posts where someone always has to take things in just about any discussion? My posts are from an old white guy who KNOWS and can FEEL the SIN'S of his forfathers, hence this cooperate, not so much of a wonderful world any more. How about you, no matter what color our creator may have chose for you to bear while passing throgh it? Be ever so careful when you JUDGE books by their COVERS is what I want my CHILDREN to KNOW and UNDERSTAND!

  • No wonder this fellow was LARGER than LIFE,he was one BIG HEART. Here I sit now myself in the land of milk and honey having squanderd the very message at the beginning of this performance. One of which I failed in LEADING by EXAMPLE,not practicing what I used to PREACH.Not doing what I KNEW was RIGHT when it COUNTED THE MOST.My wish for any parent reading this is to really LISTEN to what Mr.IZ had to say about, YOUR CHILDREN.Why do a lot of us tend to take them for GRANTED?

  • OMG, I remembering watching this with my older brother and my mom and the same feeling I got that day I got again. Chicken skin and tears. Bradah Iz a legend and yes what he says is sooo true about the drug scene, I so must agree! Love u bradah iz and may u rest in peace....

A hui hou aku, meke aloha pau'ole

  • Dear Mr. Kaleohano Israel Kamakawiwo'ole:

Originally Hawaiian music combined nature with

"music inspires because it is living information."

    See this:

YouTube Symphony - 香港中樂團 Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra - Eroica

Why don't you do a purely Hawaiian piece a little more often?

What you play will be simultaneously scientific and all our religions, which are

    one, simultaneously.

    Aloha

  • @LetItBeFormerlyX Because he died in 1997. Most of his work was purely hawiian, only a first year Theory student would watch the only two youtube songs by IZ and make an assumption. Pay attention when you speak so's not to get your foot stuck in your mouth, or someone elses in your ass. BTW why don't you search up the word Progressive.

  • Only from a Hawiian; could come this kind of love. As for those who send in hurtful, angry notes...the rest of you just ignore them; for they are hurting with their anger and not able to enjoy the love this wonderful Angel Iz left us.

  • @PelodVaulx thats not ice t thats Keali'i Reichel

  • R.I.P Israel he made a difference in the world god bless.

  • If I were alive when Christ Jesus walked the earth, I think the inspiration he evoked in those that heard and believed in him must have been like the feeling I get from listening to this message of brotherly love from Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. You don't have to understand the words to get the meaning. This is a message for the world!

  • Oh, God--this makes me cry! He was such a wonderful man!

  • @bigchuck357 Yeah Big Chuck, one of the most memorable moments in Hawaiian music history. IZ and the Makaha Sons ho'oponopono (make things right, forgive-forget) Everytime I watch it I still get choked up.

  • beautiful and sad video..

  • I fell in love with Hawaii and the Hawaiian culture. While learning this culture I was blessed to have learned and listened to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. God Bless you IZ and may God bless your family and friends. Love you!

  • This is both beautiful and very sad. Mahalo IZ you changed how I see Hawaii

  • This is both beautiful and very sad. Mahalo IZ you changed how I see Hawaii

  • For me, i think IZ was the first person to bring the conservation of hawaiian tradition and the preservation of hawaiian people to the surface through his music. although i live in MA, one of the farthest states from hawaii, I feel for the people, and i believe it should be a top american issue although right now, it is a forgotten issue which i personally condemn to the fullest

  • to je nejlepší co jsem slyšel paráda v tomto krutým světě

  • @ferdas1500 súhlasím,pohodovka.

  • @ferdas1500 že? až sa slza tisne do očí. Krásny hlas.

  • It will be three years ago this month that I reluctantly left Hawaii and returned stateside after living there for three and a half months. I first heard of Israel while there and he came to personify all that is good about this dying paradise. Aloha to all the friends I left behind.

  • 40 people don't dig his shades

  • stop with drugs, listen to him!

  • A gentle giant ...

  • @razakaharry Thats Messed Up Dont call Him That You May Mean It In a respectful Way Buts Its Not resspectful

  • this song is about a man who lives in a place called keaukaha, his name pinky kaleohano.

  • I'm very happy...we see us IZ...my tears running and my soul rise to the future - in 30-40 years we are in the same heaven...i love you iz...let us fligh to the stars and back...

    I'm very happy...we see us.
