-sigh- when I was in high school we tried to get a hold of the sheet music for this. But the guest director said it basically dropped off the face of the earth... Meaning it wasn't legal. So we ended up doing another bollywood song, still I wished we had done this one.
I love this arrangement, I love the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus and The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, I love Ethan Sperry, and I freaking love this piece. I sang Diwajavanthi last year with my choir and Sperry came in to work with us and I am looking forward to conducting his pieces in the future.
I loved singing this in COYC. I will truly miss singing with these guys. Made Junior and Senior year two of the funnest years of my life. Sunday Practices made my week and bigsick3270, if possible, could you post the link to your choirs performance of this? I'd like to see it! Haha. It was an amazing song.
Beautiful sounds, your voices resonate well. However, some of the vowels don't match. The whole choir should blend, not just the sections SATB. Nonetheless, absolutely wonderful performance. My Advanced Choir is performing this and I must say, it's a very challenging piece. Great job, all. :3
@MisdermeanerJ I agree with you....but it's hard when a group meets once a week to have all vowels match completely. As well as we are the first choir to perfom this aside from the composer's college group
@bigsick3270 Only once a week? I must say that's not a lot of practice and this came out pretty good. My choir meets two to three times a week and learning this song really is a challenge. Vowels resonance is really tricky, especially with a choir this large. It came out well for little practice and a big choir.
@MisdermeanerJ yes. We started this piece around november and didn't look at it again until about early January then we preformed it at the end of January. It was quite a task. But our chorus really is filled with the some amazingly talented and dedicated young adults. have you heard any of our other videos?
@bigsick3270 That is quite impressive. Our high school's advanced choir is about half your size, practicing 3 times a week is still proving a challenge, not to mention we're working with about 10 pieces right now (5 for state which is coming up and our new concert pieces, including Jai Ho) so learning this complex song is very hard.
Your choir does seem very talented. And yes, I looked at your Mozart piece, beautiful job. Also, may I ask, did you cut out the soprano solo with the high E?
@MisdermeanerJ no its in there. both times. the time during this recording we weren't in the ideal space so at times it sounds a little faint. and I am sure your chorus will do great!
@bigsick3270 Ah, I see. I will have to listen with my earphones then xD
Recording is always a problem. You guys also have a faster tempo than we are using - and some of the lyrics are different! And thank you! I'll most definitely be posting our state performance and Jai Ho performance on here :)
Woah~ my choir is going to sing this as our concert's song..I wish we can do it just like yours..btw..THIS IS AMAZING!!! :) nice job..so beautiful....
Awesome. What a sound. It was awesome performing with you guys again last night at B-W. U guys keep getting better and better! I salute you! One of the men in the B-W Men's Chorus admirer! ;) peace
@TheVoicesWithin123 thanks so much! I' sure your chorus will do a great job! we were actually one of the first people to preform this before it came available to the public.
