  • And sadly 7 years after this Dale joined Ayrton in the race track of heaven... R.I.P Dale Earnhardt Sr

  • Of you have Netflix you can stream the documentary SENNA. It is really good.

  • Senna and Earnheart, RIP to both, masters of the series they each drove in.

  • wish uploader had shown more of the "silent" laps by NASCAR. I didn't usually have much time for Nascar but after seeing this heartfelt video wow! I think Sennas death hit everyone. But also in ways that some of us never even thought about.

Bless ALL those in ALL motorsports and to those in ALL levels of the sport! I promise not to be so closed minded about Indy or Nascar - because I think they deserve so much respect for what they do. I'm a huge fan of F1 - but i now respect all disciplines!

  • @MovieMad007 That, Sir, is one of the most if THE most intelligent comment I've ever read. Thank you!

  • I remember watching this live like it was yesterday... crying then.... and crying again now... hard to believe it's been 18yrs almost..

  • @azapro911 Considering there hasn't been an F1 death since Senna... And besides Ratzenberger that same weekend, last F1 race death was 1982.

  • Senna THE BEST !

  • Ironic how 7 years later, Dale Earnhardt would be killed as well.

  • I don't think it's a bad way to go, doing what you love, if you could choose I mean. But it's still awfully sad :(

  • Double file restart? Rip aryton senna

  • @3befreaky1 the inside line was lap down cars, thats what the wave around and the lucky dog rule took the place of with the new style

  • Ole Ole Ole Oleeeee Sennaaaaaaa Sennaaaaaaaaaa

  • I bet there were some people in the stands saying "What do we care about F1? This is NASCAR!" ESPN, the NASCAR group, and all of the drivers are really classy for doing this. Just wish F1 would have done the same for Earnhart Sr.

  • @bullet50000 lot of Nascar's fans are poor ignorants, they think USA are alone one earth. Fortunately the drivers are not like them. Earnhardt proved this day he was more intelligent than the people you talk about. RIP Ayrton & Dale.

  • @bullet50000 The 2001 F1 Season started on March 4 at the Australian GP. The Daytona 500 was on Feb 18. How would they have "done the same" for Dale Sr.?

  • @RingSight91

at least have done a silent lap at the beginning, even though a bit late, or a memorial at one of the test sessions in Jerez or Barcelona

  • @bullet50000 I'm trying not to laugh here, but F1 already does a "silent lap at the beginning". It's called the Warm-Up Lap, to warm-up the tires and do a final track check. And doing a "slow" lap on the Melbourne Circuit's 3.124 miles with 9 turns isn't quite the same compared to the Speedway's 2.5 miles in an oval. For one thing, you're liable to overheat the engines, not to mention cut into the precisely-calculated fuel loads.

  • @RingSight91 Would you stop trolling? I am just saying it would have been nice for F1 to have done a small bit of a memorial for Earnhart, like the rest of the world did for Senna. PS, I know how F1 works.

  • @bullet50000 You probably don't remember, and likely the '94 San Marino GP wasn't broadcast in the US, that Ronald Ratzenberger died during Qualifying. If you know how F1 works, you'd know they didn't do a bit of a memorial before the Race either - and that's just 1 day after the event, at the same place. Not almost a month after and an ocean away. Finally as old as the FIA is they can't possibly be expected to commiserate on every race fatality that happens, whethere theirs or anothers.

  • @RingSight91

they actually did a small memorial at Monaco, even though it was just leaving the front 2 spots empty with the dead's flags in their places, and it was after Senna. My whole point is that when an absolute motorsport great like Senna, Patrick Depallier, Earnhart, etc, you should at least do something small.

  • @bullet50000 Can you please tell me what race ,actually what year it was,i would really like to find that video ...

  • @Mynstroop

if you are talking about the monaco, it was 1994, and it was just the FIA painting the front 2 grid spots. They have it on the Wiki page, and if you google image 1994 monaco grid, choose the first pic you see, and if you look closely, you can see it. Not much of a memorial, but it is still something.

  • @bullet50000 Oh thanks alot,I've found in archieve that very race,it is shown for a couple of seconds...I still can't believe, even though ma(FIA) is such a bastards and idiots, I can't believe they didin't make any tribute or memorial to the greatest driver ever !

  • @Mynstroop Well, they unveiled a monument in memory of Senna in Barcelona and also i think later that year at Estoril...but that actually wasnt the work of FIA, but of Ecclestone

  • @AlejjSi Yeah,I know, there are a couple of monuments in the world, parks and circuit parts named after him,but I mean like,a lap in Monaco in silence the weekend after or something ..

  • @Mynstroop Indeed, he deserved that...actually it took 10 years to do this, as Gerhard Berger drove his Lotus at Imola 2004..but also at Monaco that year, they were quite heated discussions about the new GPDA, about the new rules, so the may just didnt think of that because of that

  • @AlejjSi I understand that, but I mean there is always some drama with fia, rules ,regulations and that stuff, but still..it wasn't just a random silly accident,it was death of the Greatest Driver ever..but well, what can we excpect from fia..

  • @Mynstroop Indeed...but for FIA, F1 drivers are just something they can profit from, they couldnt care less about them. All they ever wanted was just money...after all, that actually even allowed Senna´s crash...they didnt follow the Italian law and failed t cancel the weekend after Roland´s crash...

  • @AlejjSi You are right..Bunch of bastards and faggots in there..But well,as long as we have billions of fans around the world to share our love to our idol, who cares about freaking politics

  • @Mynstroop True

  • Great job for Bob Jenkins knowing the facts and getting the terminology right. All the other commentators would've probably gotten it all wrong.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. This has been requested in the forums for years and was a very classy show of sympathy by both ESPN and Dale SR.

  • Racers are Racers. People get all tied up thinking one racing series is better than another and all the politics. When it comes down to it, real racers respect each other no matter where they race. It's been proven over and over again that the drivers alway respect drivers from other series more than the fans do. This proves it just like the NASCAR drivers response to Wheldon's death this year.

  • Who cares about which driver was better or who should be mourned more. I'm a NASCAR fan, but I have started to look at F1. I'm even watching that Senna movie and I was surprised to see how down to Earth he was.

  • @theMstanglover You should definately watch F1. You'll find it to be less fake than NASCAR.

  • @LewisPearceYaussy if by fake you mean less exciting, ok then.

  • SENNA and Dale Earnhardt || THE BEST DRIVERS I EVER SEEN!

  • I remember reading someone's comment that "Jimmy Clark was the only truly great driver to lose his life in a race". That that is/was not true is obvious. Think of some of the world's major racing series, in each one arguably its greatest driver was killed racing:

    F1: Ayrton Senna, Jimmy Clark

    Indy Cars: Billy Vukovich

    NASCAR: Dale Earnhardt

    Australian V8's: Peter Brock

There's an idea that only newcomers or over the hill drivers get killed, but racing has killed the top guys just as frequently

  • I think if those two had met, they would be really good friends.

  • @TruenoandLevin86 I know they would

  • Chilling. I was a huge fan of both Ayrton and Ol' Ironhead. Typical of the man to remember Ayrton after yet another superspeedway victory. I visited Daytona in the Summer of 2001 and came away in awe with an even greater respect for NASCAR drivers.

Dale & Ayrton - two total racers. Thanks so much for posting this video.

  • ''Airton Senna'' Well said...

  • I know lot of people dont lick Usa. Big respect to Dale Enahardi .R.I.P ...

  • To think if both of these guys met if they had both lived. There were rumors that Sr. wanted to race at Le Mans. Imagine if he and Senna had raced at Le Mans together. Would have been pretty awesome.

  • Creepy, an interview with someone who died also while he was doing his job.

  • Great Video, SENNA is The Best, even for NASCAR Drivers!

  • I bawled when i watched SENNA. I still cry whenever I watch videos of him. What an inspiring person.

  • hi death is still a shock to me till this day , R.I.P senna

  • Race with your heart and soul on your sleeve and with balls of the strongest steel. Don't take bullshit from whinging competitors and authority figures but at the same time, take time for your fans and the ones you love. Never forget your roots, but be ambitious too. I could be describing Ayrton Senna. I could just as easily be describing Dale Earnhardt... :-)

  • @azapro911 ... My english is just so so ... then im not understando everything that earnhardt says here. Id like somebody please writ here his words ........... please, its really important. !!!!!

  • @zackjr He is sending his prayers to Ayrton's family and fans, and he says that Senna was a great racer and it is a shame to see him go like he did.

  • @Shloota ... thanks. i was in trouble to understand the part ITS A SHAME TO SEE HIM GO LIKE I DID. thank you, friend.

  • RIP Dale and Ayrton....

  • Cruel Destiny. Dale Earnhardt expressing his condolences for the death of Senna, and years later he also passed away racing.

  • On that day, Dale's announcement was the first I had heard of Senna's crash.

  • and 7 years later Dale would die while racing too

  • @altfactor nope he wanted to race for ferrari in 1995 and retire in 96

  • little did earnheardt know thats how he would go to RIP senna and earnheardt both exellent at what they did

  • Wow. I loathe NASCAR with a passion, but this is very classy. Well done and thanks for sharing. Respect.

  • Thats Very Sad Senna Was The Dale Sr Of F1 And Dale Sr Was The Senna Of Nascar :(

  • @LegoDalejr2488 true very true

  • @LegoDalejr2488 god bless them , if there is a god

  • I have never known a NASCAR broadcast acknowledge the death of an F1 driver in this way, before or since. That's how far Ayrton's legend had spread.

  • A touching tribute by Bob Jenkins, the announcer. He's a class act all the way.

  • It's always great to see the mutual admiration and respect that drivers have for each other regardless which series they race in. Whether you drive a stock car or an open wheel car both are racers at heart and put their lives on the line everytime they get behind the wheel. My respect for Dale Earnhart increased after watching him pay tribute to Senna.

  • @dmarkj22 And yet we have fans of both series insulting each other? I don't understand it. I Started Watching F1 and gained in interest in NASCAR. Auto Racing is the same down to the heart.

  • @deathrooster14 I'm so happy someone else agrees with me. Myself I grew up as a NASCAR fan. But I love ALL forms of racing. F1. IZOD indycars. Australian V8 supercars, etc. When you get right down to it, auto racing is auto racing. Just like recently with Dan Wheldon. Doesnt matter what form of racing you watch, every one of us race fans and every driver in every series are all there for the exact same reason and we all mourn together. Enjoy the company and enjoy the diverse forms of it.

  • @KKFan9 Yea. All racing is awsome. And I will say, some fans a nice (NASCAR) and some fans are complete assholes(F1). Go look at the comments on Dan Wheldon. Wow what assholes.

  • @deathrooster14 yep, this is one of the best you tube comments i have ever read, dont listen to these short piece of sick dog fucking shit buddy.

  • @ZoloftChimp Stupid fucknut...how the fuck can u say hes coments are the best...??? MY coments are the best !!!!!!!!! fucking dumb son of a bitch !!!!!!

  • @ZoloftChimp <<<<< This channel smells like a putrescent brazilian cunt full of mexican horse semen.

  • @BaboonAniquilator

ZOLOFT CHIMP what a dick head disrespectfull dumb fuck

  • Wasn't there speculation that Senna, had he lived, was going to leave Formula 1 after the 1994 season and join NASCAR in 1995??

  • @altfactor Emerson Fittipaldi talked Senna into test driving an Indycar. That's the closest thing to him trying out American Racing.

  • @TruenoandLevin86 Senna was also to drive in a 4th car for Penske at Indy in 1994, this was confirmed by Emmo, Roger Penske & Frank Williams but wasn't made public knowledge

  • @altfactor Why would he leave the highest stage of racing for that crap? He wasn't Montoya.

  • @DWaq32 no shit

  • My first time seeing this very, very, sad video. RIP Ayrton & Dale.

  • I'm just imagining Dale and Senna sitting in heaven racing each other with slot cars.

  • Wow, what a classy thing that was. Never even knew how Senna's passing was acknowledged across the world. I think to me America in terms of motoracing was a different "bubble" to the Formula One world.

Tribute laps in NASCAR. That brought a tear to my eyes.

  • NASCAR hasn't been the same since Dale died, and even though I don't really follow F1, I've heard that F1 was much better before Senna was killed. NASCAR was at its best during the 70's and 80's. Drivers actually raced and fought for space on the track back then, plus there wasn't this COT. What part of the COT is actually "stock"?

  • @emrmetalstampings Yea. F1 has really went downhill in recent years, and now their planning on restricting the cars to V6's. F1 hasn't been the same since the Early 90's

  • Amazing quality for 1994.

  • @ROBLOXdude95 It was taken from an ESPN classic re-broadcast

  • i wanna see senna n ernhardt race in hevan

  • @ArtificialRed1083 o.O how?

  • i loved them both, two amazing drivers, both dead and will be missed by formula 1 and nascar and i still watch them both p.s. congrats to vettel on his win today <3 him!

  • Two of my all time favorite drivers. Both similar drivers. both aggressive and could do things with a car that leave you speechless

  • If there's one thing I wish I had a chance to see is Senna vs. Earnhardt on the circuit with the same car.

  • withevery respect to Dale

if only he would have listened to the research about "the damn noose"

it was such an avoidable waste

  • Oh wow! I have GOT to show this to my buddy "Greenlight". Ayrton Senna & Dale Earnhardt Sr. are his 2 favorite drivers!...

  • Fair play what great respect shown by the USA that day .

  • i hate to give ANYTHING nascar thumbs up. but this got it. i was watching this broadcast and this is how i found out he died. i watched imola but we didn't know much after the broadcast. f.y.i......dale earnharht was a huge f1 fan.

  • There is no comparison between NASCAR and F-1. They are equally dangerous and require equal bravery and skill. The person who got last place is in the top 0.000000000000001% of all drivers who ever lived. They are both Great Events and require Great Skill! Senna and Earnhardt were equally Great racers who were out to win!

  • @dprague you went too far

  • A bit ironic that Dale Earnhardt won that day, no?

  • 0:20-0:24 Do you know what the most unacceptable part about that is to me?

If it wasn't for the dominance of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari from 2000-2005, Those two records of 41 wins and 65 poles would still stand today.

  • @LMCMInterloper Prost has 51 wins. so thats not true

  • @nobusan84 In October 2001, NASCAR officials mandated the use of an approved head-and-neck-restraint system for all drivers racing, six drivers tested them out for the first time at the 2001 Daytona 500, they were first available in 1994, F1 did not use them until 2003.

  • Both were outstanding. Senna was the Dale Earhardt of Formula 1 and Dale was the Ayrton Senna of NASCAR...

  • @SportSuperBigblock Agree. I'm not much of a NASCAR fan, but I was at Imola the day Senna died. I'll never forget turning on the TV, seeing a picture of Dale Earnhardt, and hearing that damn lilting piano music they play everytime someone gets killed. My heart sank, and my mind went back to Italy - I felt so sorry for Dale's fans ...

  • @SportSuperBigblock And both died racing. It's sad to commonly see such tragic ends to such great people, but again it's the whole reason why they were so great to begin with...they literally gave it everything they had.

  • @bassmunk Another coincidence

  • @SportSuperBigblock Really if u compare Ayrton won 7 Monaco GPs (One of the dreams of an F1 driver), and Dale won the Winston Cup 7 times ( The dream of all Nascar Driver)

  • @445lok That's right!

  • @SportSuperBigblock nascar drivers are just fat 50year old rednecks haaa..cant compare to f1 drivers

  • @bourlivak88 I could say that the F1 drivers are weak little boys who follow the leader, but that's not just the case. Same goes for any motor-sport. You have a point though. You simply can't. F1 drivers are amazing at what they do, but a lot get embarrassed by "fat 50year old rednecks" at what they can do and vice versa. A football player probably couldn't go on to play soccer and a soccer play could possibly do well in football, but only as a punter or field goal kicker.

  • @bourlivak88 Haha you just proved you don't know shit about NASCAR, which is why I wonder how you can hate something you don't know shit about. Maybe because you're that retarded.

  • its amazing how two different racing worlds come together when they lose a a driver, they might not have known him at least they acknowledge the driver

  • Very classy

  • when the news hits it hit BIG

  • when Scott Kalitta died, NASCAR was at Infineon, and they did a really good job of acknowledging that too! :)

  • @LostHighwayFilms what year was it

  • @StFidjnr 2008 i think.

  • @StFidjnr Senna died at Imola on 1st May, 1994...

  • Senna and Earnhardt were different, very different. Senna loved life, and was very conscience of safety in motor racing, where as Dale (with all due respect) didn't seem as bothered. He never wore a HANS device, he looked on them with great disdain. If he was wearing one when he had his crash, well he'd be here today. RIP to two great drivers.

  • Earnhardt and Senna had this in common, they both breathed air.

    Other than that..........no. Nothing.

  • Earnhardt and Senna had somewhat similar racing styles. Aggressive and both were champions in their respective racing leagues.

  • The surreal nature that Earnhardt talks about it, he was the next great to die in a racing accident. Tragic is an understatement

  • @f1isfab1 - The cause of both their deaths was the same, basilar skull fracture.

  • @zxcv1234vcxz That's incorrect. Ayrton was killed by a piece of the cars' suspension that got pinched between the car and the wall; it came into the cockpit and pierced his visor/head.

  • When I saw how Kenny Schrader walked away from checking on Dale (and his later interview on Fox) I knew it was near-fatal or fatal. I instantly thought of this moment. Dale gained our family as a fan this day when he recognized Senna's passing.

  • 2 amazing drivers both gone :( why do the best have to leave so soon? both helped get each sport to where they are now with their safety and both have saved many other lives... RIP Ayrton Senna and Dale Earnhardt :'(

  • Very nicely done, and very respectful.

  • sad stuff

  • 2 great Drivers 2 great champions

    RIP

  • Ha, that was really nice that Dale Earnhardt mentioned it. I ha the same feeling watching his accident as I did Senna's.

  • i always respected The Intimidator, now even more so

  • I love that: "We'll take a couple of silent laps in memory of Ayrton Senna." There really quite isn't another sport like motor racing.

And now, sadly, this amazing NASCAR champion has passed away as well.

  • The two best drivers of the world, now they are racing in heaven. R.I.P Ayrton Senna and Dale Earnhardt.

  • @igon2893 probably racing each other, Ayrton teaching open wheel & Dale teaching stock car

  • i was born on 30 december 1993

    i never really knew him

my dad is a F1 fan like crazy , he was always convinced i was a gift from senna to him

he spoke to senna like 3 times with a total of like 30 seconds, i would do anything to give my father another 30 seconds

this gave me goosebumps and i know that the fans of F1 will never forget this legend

  • I'm not much of a NASCAR fan at all, but I'll never forget turning on ESPN and seeing the announcement of Earnhardt's death. I thought to myself that NASCAR fans must be going through the same thing that F1 folks did on the day Senna died. Both very sad losses to motorsport and the world.

  • class

  • Two legends that are no longer with us. R.I.P. both of you.

  • We F1 fans mourned the loss of Dale Earnhardt in much the same way.

  • rip sr and senna

  • Superb video quality considering its from 1994

  • @Monthagny It's not, it's a repeat on Classic ESPN.

  • great to see this amount of respect between drivers...even in totally differant scenes...brothers in arms for ever

  • Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Ayrton Senna Are The 2 Greatest Drivers Ever!!!!!

  • very emotional video for me...

now both them are racing in heaven...

  • @greatassistant their dead there not racing anywhere idiot

  • @greatassistant Pretty spooky isn't it, although Dale lived another 7 years after this video...RIP to two wonderful racers in their respective classes from an Aussie!!

  • @greatassistant thats very disrespectful to both of them for mentioning a fictional place in a fairytale you piece of shit

  • @BlueBlazer89 ha 89 , how many funerals have you been to of an actual loved one and not prayed or talked to god ? I'd say none if you were born in 89 please live ten more years and come back and read your shit comment and punch yourself in the face . wait no ... go on and do it now , old you will appreciate it .

  • @toob247 89 is my favorite players number not my birth year stupid, stfu with god and just hang yourself virgin

  • @BlueBlazer89 thats exactly what i thought 0

  • @toob247 whatever troll, keep disrespecting people who we've lost

  • :( thats really upsetting to see. I like the way the NASCAR world acknowledged it

  • @maxipads1441 Thats because nascar fans have more class than f1 fans

  • @sohcsarewicked more class?

is that something that comes from living in texas & alabama?

  • @flipsidedogchop No, it comes from giving a shit about anybody other than yourself. By the way, most NASCAR drivers are from North Carolina, and California.

  • @TwerpBassMan unfortunately a form of racing that makes left & right turns can never fully respect a form that makes only left.

to think otherwise is known as burying ones head in an ostrich!

  • @flipsidedogchop What many people can not comprehend, is that NASCAR does have races that turn both left and right. Now, be it, there are not a lot, but all of the main series of NASCAR have them.

  • @maxipads1441 I agree..as a Senna and F-1 nut, I'm really surprised and touched by how they announced and honoured Ayrton's passing..full credit to the US racing fraternity for doing so from Down Under!!!
