Looks like a test flight and IF I am not mistaken that's Boeing airfield (BFI) ,also the landing doors opened is not standard procedure, probably some tests pre-delivery flight at the factory
I was driving on 95 by Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood Intl when a 737 aborted a landing because of extremely bad weather like less than 20ft visibility, for those who don't know that airports approach goes like 50ft above a freeway, the wheels almost touch your hood :D
the problem is clearly the fron landing gear was illuminating a non-locked position.. meaning it wasn't in the locked position ,, the front landing gear has two doors, the front one should have closed after they put the gear down.. they were to diagnose the problem and come in for another approach.
I'm really into planes and I just find it remarkable that you noticed the problem with the doors, I wouldn't have seen it myself if you had not mentioned that ;)
@xVerteXx hehe, Me too! i was, am and will be into planes,, that's why i decided to become a pilot.. and thanks to GOD, I AM! If you want to become a pilot,, go for it.. especially when you are into it,, you will ace everything.. at first i wa scared i wouldnt pass the exams,, but to be honest,, everything was even easier than school haha.. LOVE AIR! ;)
I really want to become a pilot and the exams are not the thing which scares me. I have already teached myself many things in flight simulator, but my eyes may get in the way of becoming a real pilot, because I have a slight green deficiency. I'm going to have that deficiency checked out by taking a beyne lantern test in some weeks, if I pass the lantern test I will definitely apply to Lufthansa.
@xVerteXx OMG, I had the exacy same story as you.. trained myself in FS2004 and FSX.. with a help of my dad who is a cheif pilot in a Dubai based airline.. I accomplished my goal.. and dont worry, almost everything is curable nowadays.. try doing the "ishihara" tests on google or something, see if you can pass them, P.S. for the first class med certificato.. you don't have to be 100% perfect.. also if you dont get a first,, with a second , you can always be a first officer,, GOOD LUCK
Really people? Look, his landing gear doors were open and if you pause at 0:08 you see a little door behind the main gear. It was a test flight and he was supposed to abort it.
Why was it aborted? That was a textbook landing he was about to have. Was there priority traffic that had to land or maybe two planes going for the same runway a bit too close?
@woodymmbbrr Yeah, but I wouldnt want to get on one with the Trent 800 engines. The GEs are so much more reliable. Plus how many airplanes can say they have never had a single fatality. Accidents yes, deaths no. I love the Boeing 777!
Its amazing that planes theese days have the power to abort landings such as this one, i myself have been on a plane when it has aborted a landing and its not fun. The piolet was given the wrong runway to land on at sydney airport and had to abort the landing because another plane was pulling out onto the runway, luckily we were at about 200 feet when the piolet aborted so we were ok, but a little lower and i think it could have been much worse.
@gentkvm In theory it would not be landed. He madea low pass on the track. How can you 'note had problems with the cart, it was lowered to 9 / 10 and the roof of the truck had stopped. He madethe move to show your authority (fire servizioni airport) as was the situation, that showed people who were on the ground if he could land in that state or the cart was put in a bad situation. Got it?
Sorry to be precise but this technically isn't an aborted landing. This is a low-approach go around, it's a procedure they use on test flights of the new aircraft.
You know I was thinking why those people bother standing there looking at planes landing. How boring. But then I am sitting here watching it on youtube and I'm sure it's better to watching it there instead of on youtube.
In the first 5 seconds or so of this video, the 777 sounded like a 707 with JT3C engines approaching before it punched the throttle and started to climb.
@Aviationnation10 even if he was doing a training exercise, the gear has to be down below a certain altitude for safety...and the computer starts to yell at you!
@osjcag good point, that was odd indeed. those main doors are only open during transistion of the gear. Also I am pretty sure that is not something that is even NORMALLY controlled from within the flightdeck. I imagine you could pull a curcuit breaker though. Don't see why ya would...
@futurepilot2394 Boeing Assembly Factory is located at this spot, this is where their production line is etc so this would of been a test flight. On the 787's first ever flight, she landed with the gear doors down. Planes have an "alternative gear configuration" setting and it doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong with the aircraft.
