Great videos! You are a stud for doing that, plus you were way upfront, so must be a really good rider. Our group, the Grippers, is way older and slower but we like the ride, too. Probably most picturesque combo of terrain on a century in the country. Did you mention it's also one of the hardest, lol?
damn........I was 3 minutes behind you guys--funny you can never tell how close you are till the end. I wish I could of hung with you guys and not have been so alone-- this was my 3rd year also. are you gonna do it again next year? I am most likely--I live on Maui so it is a bit more difficult (I used to live in Humboldt)
well perhaps we can get in touch before the ride and ride together--let somebody else film and both break 6 hours ; ) aloha
@seatrill man you were close! Being in a group really helps, and fortunately I found a group of Portland riders this year. I plan on doing it next year, and breaking 6 would be a great goal! Best bet is sticking with a group similar to this year, and power through the endless hills. (that's where a lot of time can be made up.)
ok Anthony--thanks for the noting the landmark barn--I'll know for next year. What was your time--with the ability to talk and film.....Have you done the TUC before? Nice riding--have you thought of the GgPro HD helmet mount video camera?
@seatrill I haven't really given much tought of mounted cameras, but the idea sounds great. I rode the TUC this year in 6:26, and this was my third year. The barn is a great sight, and if I'm not mistaken there is another barn on the left right before you begin the final descent into Ferndale. Both to me mean the climbing is done!
@ride4lifeaf07 Hell, even after the 2nd barn on the turn down into Wildcat you still have a little climb left in there during the descent on Wildcat. Those last 20 miles are just relentless...
@ride4lifeaf07 I'm actually looking at getting a Felt within a few weeks, a 2009 F95 Team Issue, will be my first road bike. What kind of tires do you recommend for centuries?
@eosnspace nice, that sounds like a great bike. As for the wheels, you can use any road wheels, I was just suggesting that using a $1000 carbon fiber wheel might not be best for a ride like the TUC since the roads were not that good, and you could possibly mess them up? but other than that, anything is great! Now if you were meaning the tires themselves, it probably wouldn't matter a whole lot what type they were. hopefully that helps..
@eosnspace I'm a huge fan of 700x25 if your frame/forks will fit them. I ran Continental GP4000 700x25 this year and just loved the extra cushion. I've always run 700x23 in the past on my previous 7 TUC's. I really noticed a difference this year in a much more comfortable ride though some of the crappy sections...
Enjoyed the series, great work! I would like to do it next year, BTW 25c tires are great for this kind of thing.

Nice job. My friend was also riding in this, he said that it was fun. I was wondering, what kind of bike were you using?

@eosnspace I was on a 2009 Felt AR 4. I saved my race wheels for the races.. This century has some rough roads, but it sure is fun!

@WheeliePete really? I could fit that, and that sounds smart considering this course.

Thanks, and I used the video mode of a Canon PowerShot A1100 IS.
I'mglad you all enjoyed the videos!

The barn - Dave Phillips' favorite part! I would be glad to see that too after all that climbing and know that the toughest part is over! :)

You are an incredible cyclist - to film most of the ride - especially the hills is just unbelievable! Props.

Congratulations, Anthony! You deserve a special patch for recording the whole TUC! Awesome job! What kind of camera did you use?
