  • Really nice man.

  • very nice good job

  • I get so sentimental when I hear the good old Christmas tunes played or sung in this way and with these delicious jazz chords .. Happy Christmas to you!

  • @filistro Thank you.

  • I have been stuck with soloing, but this video was ground braking for me. I see the 2-5-1 chord pregresions and the minor and major 6. playing arpeggioes over the chords being played and then notes from the scale in the middle. amazing vid, and tutorial for me. this vid overall if you watch closely can help a musician a whole lot if your like stuck on playing simple blues scale solo's.

  • @TheMusicianHelper I greatly appreciate your comment, thanks.

  • Thanks to your videos. You're an A+ player especially in improvising. I learn a lot by just listening to you. Looking forward for more vids

  • @denniseclipse I appreciate your comment, thanks.

  • Oh my - how'd I miss this one?!

Looks like you're getting a LOT more comfortable with the solo thing! Walking - striding (!) - LH tenths! Roger who? :) It's great how your videos seem to push things in all directions - including mine! :)

(now I need to record Giant Steps, or something) :)

    Way cool Roger!

  • Hehe, thanks Joe! Yeah, it is fun trying all different styles - including "Joe Holt" style. ;-)

  • Great! Very inspiring videos!

I just realized you've got big hands, easily reaching the 3rd above the octave in 0:43.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • I loved the whole rendition--thanks for sharing!

  • I appreciate your comment, thanks.

  • Thanks ! Really enjoyed that.

I love the flicking between straight, swing and waltzy rhythms.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • you are terrific man. . can't complain

    merry XMAS

  • I appreciate your comment, thanks.

  • wonderful as always, Roger) Happy New Year!

  • @fedalxis Thanks, happy new year!

  • Thankies!

Can we have the color keyboard display pretty please?

  • This is great as usual!

As someone who watches your videos for instructional purposes however, I prefer the cheap keyboard display with the colors to correspond to what keys you're playing rather than this new high tech one, as the cheaper display was easier to follow.

But otherwise I love your content, and I honestly feel like a jerk stating that criticism...Sorry!

But much love and Merry Christmas!

  • Nice to also hear your solo piano playin'

  • Excellent Roger! But can you tell me which program you use to display your recorded MIDI File as a virtual piano on the screen?

  • @phly23 it is the graphic piano keyboard that comes with the Pianoteq software piano.

  • Brubeckesque

  • Y'r sogood 5******

  • GREAT chords at the end, exquisite

  • You da man, Rog! I'll be getting my camcorder for Christmas and finally be putting some clips up.

  • Very nice, great way to learn.

  • Thank You, Roger, for helping us resonate with the true vibrations of Christ- mass!!!! sincerely Dr B

  • Thanks Roger and also "Happy Holidays 2009 to you"
