I decided to keep stock 2" piping and go for flow 40 delta's with turndowns. has a nice deep rumble and a little burble after you rev it up. Not too much resonating either.
@SuperMan88Strong I'm not certain. Also I don't have a P71 so I'm probably not equipped to answer that question. My guess however is that anything you do with an X-Pipe is going to sound deeper and more aggressive by default since it's unlikely you'll be reusing the ultra-quiet stock mufflers.
Hey im trying to calculate my HP does anybody know how much HP a Crown Vic with High Flow Cats, Mufflers, X Pipe Crossover, and K & N CAI would have ? (a rough estimate)
Hey man, nice car and great sound! I had a question though if you could. I'm going to be getting duals on my 2000 Grand Marquis LS and was wondering, would you recommend 2.25' piping? Any noticeable power increases? 2.25' is what I was leaning towards but I'd just like to get a second opinion. Thanks!
@AdmiralAckbarFTW Thanks for the positive feedback. I don't believe 2.25" piping will add any additional power. The flow rates through the exhaust won't change much, and the dual exhaust itself won't inhibit airflow even at 2". Your major problem is increasing airflow before and just after combustion-- high-flow cats, long-tube headers, high-flow cylinder heads... That sort of thing.

I can't wait to get mine. I'm gonna get my buddy that does everyone's exhaust to run true dual straight pipe exhaust with an x-pipe. Loud the better, that's how we do it.
haha yea sadly, when california does something it is quickly adopted into a nationwide law. thank god the cops in maryland, at least around here, are kind of more leanient. i got an inspection ticket last month because my truck was too loud so i had to pay $200 to get my cats welded back on. and the shop did a shitty job so my welds are leaking.
Actually, it's a base Crown Victoria. The piping is 2.25" inch from the headers, stock cats in place. I know the tips are non-resonating; I'm not an expert in exhaust or piping, but I could swing by the shop it was done at and ask Dave exactly what he did. :)
If everything other than mufflers are stock then it will have the resonators by the tips. They look like bulges in the pipe just a few inches before the end at the rear.
Naw, the pipes are custom-bent. I believe the original pipes may actually have been 2.0", mine are definitely custom 2.25". I saw them go in, and there's no bulge where you said to look. :)
Nawp, haha, I had the pipes all changed. Looking back on it, I think I should've gone with 3" piping. I may take it back down to the shop and ask about material reclamation being factored into the price for upping to 3"s.
Yeah, you know what, now that I think about it you're absolutely correct. A pipe that's too large will reduce the amount of necessary backpressure to maintain a smooth torque curve. Plus, it'd probably sound too warbly without boost.
sweet sound man! i bet people in ur town double look your car because they dont believe that car actually sounds so good! i put a new exhaust on my grand marquis and i love the sound and the looks i get from everyone haha!
I love that sound. Some people have problems with Flowmasters, but I really think this sound is great for the Crown Victoria. A lot of people are scared of it around here because they're not sure what it's got, but I want to be able to back up that sound! I'm working on the mod list right now, as I just got this car. :)
Yeah, all I need now is a better engine...! Haha. I could just SC it, but, I think I'm gonna get a SC 4v Cobra engine. I could beat all the silly ricers around here, though. Ha.

Which Pipe is deeper sounding on a P71 stock H or X Crossover

Awesome! Just make sure to get an H-pipe, it deepens the sound and takes the tinny-sounding 'popopop' away.

Sounds very nice! Good looking Panther too!

Yeah, mine's a true dual with no connection between the two. I thought about doing an x-pipe, but you know how California is about anything fun.

I kept the cats on mine. Still a significant gain in flow and low-end power, but the drone is non-existant below 2300rpm.

Sounds good. It's an LX right? Do you still have the rearmost resonators installed?

no point in 3" unless you change it forced induction. i only have 2.5" pipe on my stock 318, you lose low end torque if you go any bigger

now go have a mustang for a midnight snack. The cool thing is, no one expects a grandpa car to sound like this. Total Sleeper.
