I understand certain images are inappropriate at school. But how does this hairstyle have any negative affect on the school/students?

The school is just being selfish - worrying about their own image more than the students themselves. They're also taking away the students' self-expression & individuality (although following the SAME hairstyle isn't really "individuality" but nonetheless, still different).

Anyhow all I know is, I (or my future children) definitely won't go to THAT school =]

What I dont understand is, why is the school focusing so much on their students' IMAGES?? Shouldn't the school be focusing/working on improving the students' grades/abilities/skills? What difference does a HAIRSTYLE make on a student's ability to function properly at school? The students are generally really stressed out by the amount of studying they have to do. If having a hairstyle makes them a little happy, can't the school accept that??
