  • I can't help but cry whenever I hear this piece. It's... I don't even have words to describe.

  • The pianist here is so very gentle. What a combination of sensitivity and grace.

  • im playing this as a solo at our schools next concert (:

  • He came to the U.S. in the 1970's with other kids from a Shanghai music school. He walked very quickly onto the stage to solo, wearing pants a little short and shoes a little big, a sign of China's economic condition then. He played Sicilienne by Maria T. von Paradis. I was thoroughly impressed. Yes, Issac Stern discovered him and may have nurtured him along the way, too. Thanks, Mr. Stern.

  • I was taken here by Yujia Wang's video. What a nice surprise. It is so beautiful. Thanks for posting it.

  • hermoso... :) perfecto

  • Superb! A beautifully played cello! Bravo! Thank you yinyue8888 for uploading this outstanding performance!

  • This is just so good !!! Amazing.

  • Isaac Stern was right when he went to China and pick out the next great cellist.

But little did he know that he picked someone who later turned out to be the greatest.

  • The best cellist out there right now not even YYM can match him

  • A breathtaking performance! Bravo!

  • i love this rendition, but what happens on the part where the words would be "oh mutter"? don't think schubert wrote it that way :D

    anyway brilliant work

  • So heart breakingly beautiful....

  • I thought I will never like anybody as musc as Maisky, but I was so wrong.. It is so honest, sincere, intrinsic..

  • @Jekatherina Please...please listen to Truls Mork and his suites before you ever consider Maisky to be your epitome of music making. His Schumann is on youtube, and is excellent

  • @jwunschie14 I have heard him. I have even been to his concert in Tallinn. It is just not my style, my understanding of music...

  • Thank you Mr. Wang, for making my 3 friends and i weep with joy over this wonderful music......

  • Thumbs up if you thought he was just sitting really still for the first 20 seconds of this video.

  • yes, just great !!!

  • wonderful !!!!! thank you !!!!

  • Wish I knew how to purchase this piece!

  • @rbrower9 It's in the Cellist's Favorite Contest Album published by Carl Fischer.

  • wonderful music and execution!

  • @vitosideb I know what you are trying to say, but I wouldn't think of it as execution. I would say wonderful 'expression' of the music. He clearly played it well :)

  • @jwunschie14 I speak better in Italian Language and in Italian we say "magnifica esecuzione" for a piece played by a musician, and it 's a compliment as "Wonderful performance": the musical expression is something a little different: anyway He clearly is a good performer with an excellent expression of this music!-)

  • @vitosideb Ah, well if that is what you meant...indeed

  • Hitman Blood Money used this beautiful music.

Thanks to the game I know this music. Awesome.

  • Instant goosebumps ,

    BRAVO

  • very sensitive response, and a masterly ability to fill the sound vibration and touch the bow to string, a special musical thinking Bravo! Thank you for this video =-)

  • Beautiful phrasing

  • He is the best. Every time I listen to his play, I am captivated by his inspiring and emotional, his gentle yet muscular play. Speechless.
