Veal's fine as long as the calf was raised free and not in a crate denying movement and iron to the animal to make sure no muscles develop. Veal in Europe and Australia are from free calves, its time for farmers in the US to fucking move on.
Free raised veal is one of the most prefered farmed veal these days. The cruel method of growing them in a tight cage is actually the least popular and is practically banned in many countries. Capturing and eating of young animals is actually prefered by predator animals. A young animal getting eaten alive while watching its own limbs getting shredded apart is brutal too but that's also nature. We will never be an exception to nature.

I'm all for eating meat. My problem with veal isn't the fact that it's meat; nor that it came from baby cows. The issue is the extremely cruel conditions in which the calves are forced to live. For their entire short lives, they are kept in cages so small that they can't move, deprived of any type of interaction, and fed intentionally insufficient food. Killing for meat is a necessity. Making the animal's life an absolute, utter, isolated, constricted hell is not. That's why I don't eat veal.
@maxinpains "Marsala" is a type of cooking wine. You can find cheap dollar stuff in your local grocery store - however I'd recommend getting some good quality stuff. Makes a huge difference.
Defenseless? Yes domesticated animals are defenseless, that's why we give them the best possible lives, raise them well, feed them well, give them space to enjoy life, make sure they are slaughtered in their prime, quickly and ethically, not from some horrid disease, or being mauled by a wolf, or drowning. The meat is so tender because the cows are fed a deficient diet (lacking especially in iron). Also, they are kept in cages slightly larger than their bodies, so that they never have room to move. This is to keep them from exercising and hardening their muscles, which allows for the meat to be so tender. It's inhumane no matter where you live.

If there was a way to obtain the meat without killing an animal I would be all for it, but since we currently don't have that kind of technology, boycotting the meat industry by becoming a vegan, or vegetarian won't stop animals from getting slaughtered. He had turkey, lamb, veal calves and pigs to be served at the end of the season. He showed footage of animals being mistreated in commercial slaughter houses, and was staunch that animals shouldn't be treated that way. Watch the entire show, not just a clip. The pigs were crammed into too small cages and began chewing on the bars to escape, breaking their teeth as a result. A boycott of Smithfield has been called for as a result. Capturing and eating of young animals is actually prefered by predator animals. A young animal getting eaten alive while watching its own limbs getting shredded apart is brutal too but that's also nature. We will never be an exception to nature.

I'm all for eating meat. My problem with veal isn't the fact that it's meat; nor that it came from baby cows. The issue is the extremely cruel conditions in which the calves are forced to live. For their entire short lives, they are kept in cages so small that they can't move, deprived of any type of interaction, and fed intentionally insufficient food. Killing for meat is a necessity. Making the animal's life an absolute, utter, isolated, constricted hell is not. That's why I don't eat veal.

Defenseless? Yes domesticated animals are defenseless, that's why we give them the best possible lives, raise them well, feed them well, give them space to enjoy life, make sure they are slaughtered in their prime, quickly and ethically, not from some horrid disease, or being mauled by a wolf, or drowning. Then we enjoy their succulent meat. I can't see a problem with this.

The meat is so tender because the cows are fed a deficient diet (lacking especially in iron). Also, they are kept in cages slightly larger than their bodies, so that they never have room to move. This is to keep them from exercising and hardening their muscles, which allows for the meat to be so tender. It's inhumane no matter where you live.

If there was a way to obtain the meat without killing an animal I would be all for it, but since we currently don't have that kind of technology, boycotting the meat industry by becoming a vegan, or vegetarian won't stop animals from getting slaughtered. The meat will be there and continue to be there whether I eat it or not.
I eat meat because it's good and contains protein among other important supplements in much higher quantities than other foods. Why eat 15 yogurts? Eat one filet steak.

He had turkey, lamb, veal calves and pigs to be served at the end of the season. He showed footage of animals being mistreated in commercial slaughter houses, and was staunch that animals shouldn't be treated that way. Watch the entire show, not just a clip. He then raises pigs in his backyard cruelty free. He raises veal allowing them to run free to show that they don't need to be locked in a box for their meat to be tender. Beef is no longer branded. The pigs were crammed into too small cages and began chewing on the bars to escape, breaking their teeth as a result. A boycott of Smithfield has been called for as a result. There are farmers that raise their livestock in cruelty free environments. That is if you're willing to look for them, instead of taking the easy way out and branding all meat eaters as barbarians.

I think there are several reasons why meat-eating continues; amongst these reasons are:
1. Lack of knowledge of what REALLY happens.
2. Not even thinking about it.
3. Knowing it but putting it out of one's mind because it would otherwise cause mental discomfort and guilt.
4. Believing that eating animal products is necessary. It's not. Many people have never eaten them and live perfectly healthy.
5. A belief that animals don't have the same experience of suffering.

What you wanna do, is try to think, yeah, lets start with that, do some research and then realise that eg. athletes are vegetarian, bodybuilders also are vegetarians (not all of them ofcourse, this example is only to show you meat doesnt mean healthy).
