  • lol...on a serious note, arik air is the way then aero...dont understand whats going on at virgin nigeria yet. my smoothest flight(s) have been on chanchangi though! i think they have great pilots there (as at 2009)

  • @ goldenismonica: chanchangi curiously has one of the highest safety records in nigeria. no accident recorded!

  • When you depart Lagos airport you have to give dash to self proclaimed airport officials. Whats the normal bribe you have to give to the man in the Army General's Uniform, the man in the Police Inspector Uniform, the man in the Air Force Uniform, the man in the Nigerian Navy Officer's uniform, the man in the Customs Uniform, the man in the Other Assorted Officials uniforms? I think they all got the uniforms from some serving officer they shot, and promptly took up positions at the airport.

  • That's the best view of Lagos - leaving it. Shell did a survey of all internal airlines in Nigeria, and Chan Changi was "the only one with any disernable form of routine maintenance." So in MTN we were all instructed to fly with them.

  • nice video' that was a phone' i dont encourage such,it is very dangerous,he could actually be fined, and persecuted

  • This wasnt a phone... twas a camera!

  • I tot they told you to stow your electronics for take-off... lol

  • good video well done.

  • also...

i was looking online and i saw that the nigerian actresses and actors had a party or some kind of event being held in imo state owerri.

so a lot of the actresses and actors boarded one aircraft sponsored by chan changi.

i already dont like that airline and its not safe. its had a couple of fatal crashes in the past and i was thinking...if that plane crashes all those proudecers, directors, actors and actresses will be dead.

thats a horrible chance to take!

    virgin nigeria!

  • Ethiopian air my be one of the best in africa but it definetely does not have the largest fleet in the world. No african airline does!!!!!!

  • Ethipian air just has so many destinations...

  • i flew with chan changi and never again am i flying with them. i didnt really like the flight.the seats were old and uncomfortable and the aircraft was kinda old itself.

i flew with aerocontractor and i really liked it especially compared to chan changi. and out pilot was a woman. she was so pretty.

i have yet to fly with virgin nigeria but i looked online and their prices are kinda high.

wait i can fly with arik air. thats a new airline. i left before it became an airline.

    i heard its good.

  • Is Okada or Triax still around?

  • lol nooo that's like ancient history...

  • The 727 and those slow climbs! Love that old Girl though. one of my favorite AC.

  • I did not like flying with Chan Changi, coming from europe, the planes are diffrent. However it was nice to fly in an older aircraft. 727-200 5N-Ben. Unfortunalty 2days after flying with Chan Changi, the same plane crashed in Lagos.

  • i wouldnt fly with any africn airline ever chances are you wont make it home , you should check the statistics man scary shit.

  • you can fly with South African airways, or Kenyan airways they r one of the best african airlines, so is Virgin Nigeria...

  • Thats not true. Ethiopian airlines has one of the best records on earth. One of the largest fleet in the worls as well and has won lots of prices. Even the last place crash in the US where the pilot diched the plane into the see he said he learnt a lot from the Ethiopian Pilot (Leul) who first ditched the plan into the see soe years earlier. Dont be negative. Nigerian airlines reflect our attitude towards life. Other countries are doing ok,

  • virgin nigeria is pretty good...i guess..:"P

EMIRATES, DELTA, AEROFLOT and AMERICAN AIRLINES ARE THE BEST!!

(talkin bout what air company is the best really is some lame shit:PP))

  • @av8r007 statistics say that flying is very safe even with airlines with worst recordss.

  • You're an idiot. Normally I would elaborate but you're just too stupid to understand. (Sorry for all of the big words I used)

  • 44 years later, the 727 is still the sportiest commercial airliner around.

  • Guys, I don't think the poster want you to engage in the aerodynamics discussion. The poster simply want to give you another opportunity to re-live your experience leaving a great Country like Nigeria.Flying out of Nigeria is usually a crucial moment for me. I'd rather see landing @ Murtala version. Thanks.

  • ya i understand what u mean .... I have not been home in almost 2 years .... I cant wait to land back at home during summer ... I just cant wait

  • iv got landing in Port Harcourt thats were im from. nd u?

  • one of my faverit parts of flying is the takeoff

you are pulling up to 3 to 4 gees when the jet races

    down the runway exrteamy fun.

  • The leading edge slats' deployed configuration still allows the wing to have a greater distance for air to travel over the top than the bottom, and the pressure difference causes lift. A slight curve is the result; however, with the flaps extended out there is greater drag than in a "clean" configuration.

  • What you really mean is the camber is increased to cause more lift. Also i think youll find that the leading edge is powered hydraulically rather than pneumatically. 747s krugers are pneumatic.

  • Maybe hydraulically on the 747, but on many aircraft, 727, 737, 757, 767, 777, they are pneumatic, because when they are deployed, they are much quieter than the hydraulic jack screwws powering the flaps, and when they (leading edge slats) are stowed, you can hear the air bleed off. I've worked on em' they're powered pneumatically.

  • Your talking crap mow because they are powered by hydraulics. The leading edge slats are driven via hydraulics motors to tubes which turn the slats. 747s are friven pneumatically.

  • Do you work on commercial aircraft for a living?

  • Im a licenced aircraft engineer!

  • O.K., leading edge slats are powered by hydraulics.

  • Excellent take-off. Lagos is a great city.

  • Great clip! Mind you, rather you than me flying on those deathtraps!

  • Deathtraps?

    Surely ye jest.

  • are those planes quantas?

  • no they are Virgin Nigeria

  • forward flap down shows its most probably a large business jet. e.g falconer

  • Actually it is a Boeing 727.

  • lol thats how diseases get from one country to another. throught the flies.

  • what?

  • they ALWAYS use flaps for takeoff !!!

  • flaps down for take off? that's a 1st

  • Actually those flaps on the front of the wing are called leading edge slats.

  • You retarded fool flaps are always down in every aircraft during take off!

  • Yeah, the flaps are always down in every aircraft during takeoff due to the greater wing area; therefore, lift needed. But those flaps on the front are actually called leading edge slats, which don't use hydraulic jack screws to deploy, but use pneumatic ones.

  • If they increase wing area why dont they come out straight?

  • They don't need to come out straight. The leading edge slats are designed to fit tightly against the wing when retracted, if they came straight out, the resulting drag forces could cause structural damage, or may even tear it off.

  • hey its you thnx for commenting!

  • Hehe ...brings back some memories! excellent!
