  • Pfff.. I can do that...haha no..no i can't

  • 1:05-1:16 = most frightening thing I've ever seen. I'm going to have nightmares....

  • Eric Miyashiro is muh NIGGA!!!

  • @VagueTheory Come on, do you really have to post stuff with such language, this is jazz not rap, yes he is an amazing lead player.

  • @selector111 Oh sorry man. That was my bad. I just got hyped because Eric is one of my favorite trumpeters.

  • @VagueTheory Its all right but the influence of hip hop is very annoying. Yeah he is one of my favorite trumpet players as well, very consistent and has a clean sound and his articulation in the upper register is just amazing, and he is damn good at improv.

  • @selector111 hippacritte

    how ever u spell it

  • @MrDr143 and how is that? and its hypocrite

  • @selector111 u were saying dont post stuff with language and u post ed language with damn

  • @MrDr143 I wasn't talking about swearing, I don't give a shit about that, I was talking about he that guy referred to Eric Miyashiro as "muh NIGGA!!!" I hate when people talk like that, that is how uneducated wanna be musicians talk, like "rappers"

  • @selector111 oh gotcha

  • @selector111

Because "killin' cats" were educated terms to use in the 50's?

  • @jazzbuckeye Im sure it was, even if it wasn't, its not vulgar, no one would be offended by that.

  • @selector111 No, you're digressing from the point. You said the way he spoke was how uneducated people spoke, implying that uneducated people can't be good musicians. You have no idea where jazz came from.

  • Did I say uneducated people can't be good musicians? No, I didn't. You said that, I said that what he said was talking like uneducated people ( in music) like people you see on mtv who want to be musicians. I don't care about how people talk but saying "nigguh" is offensive to certain people, I don't want to see that on a video I know young people will probably watch.

  • Damn Eric sounds awesome even at that age. Who's the bone player?

  • @Polishjazzman The great Al Grey!!!!

  • Looks like he's playing a 3C. LOL!

  • he looks like doraemon.. joke..^^

  • I write any sheet music

  • wheww he was pretty good young, too.

  • The tune is called "Okay with Jay" written by Buddy Rich's baritone player Jay Craig. It can be heard on the album "At Stadshalle Leonberg, Germany 10th July 1986". Great playing from Eric Miyashiro!

  • Lol, this is a song lol, wat planet are you from singing is not the only form a song can be formatted in, besides do you only hear a voice in a song, most of the time no

  • Thats like me saying all singing is not a song, its an archipela. No its a song, deal with it

  • Holy! Hiro Nakamura can play high!

  • i wanna hear the whole song!!!!!!!!!

  • is that lou blackburn on bone at the start of the clip?

  • That's Al Grey

  • Was this arrangement by Buddy;s band ever released commercially? If so, where can I find it? Also, can anybody tell me what CDs feature Eric with Buddy's band?

  • Oh man, you gotta upload the full song. D:

  • Tang is nice, but I like real orange juice the best (Maynard).

  • I personally like the trumpet soloist from wind machine more but it might have just been the song style

  • 血管切れるよ

  • where can i get the entire copy of this performance?

  • I did see this gig,it was awesome! It is Al Grey who plays the trb solo.

  • Matt Harris on piano!!

  • oh man, eric is awesome. the guy's from hawaii (me too), and i got to see him and this big band of local guys in this tiny venue. man did those guys amp it up. blew my ears out. that guy is amazing.

  • sure looks like Al. He's the best!

  • Was that Al Grey at the beginning on the trombone?

  • the guy is another Maynard !!!

  • Eric is a monster...I had the pleasure of listening to him two nights in a row this weekend and then I got to meet him and he's also a genuinely nice guy. Thanks for posting the video of him...not to mention Buddy.

  • Not true at all. That is a demonstration of pure power and control to be able to slur all around the range like that and come back to pitch. I'd like to see you play exactly what he did every single night of the week with Buddy's band. I didn't think so...

  • I do play that way, he is a verty good player, but theres only one Maynard.Erick will be the first ti say that. Maynard was askes by Miles Davis to teach him to play like Maynard, and he told him that he should not copy him, to be his self , and to stay that way. Pluss Maynard told him that he was not built for it. Read his Autobiagraphy MF HORN....

  • Eric does not copy. What he does by playing alot of Maynard covers is just keeping Maynard's music alive. I agree there is only one Maynard, but that does not mean that other players can't be as good or better than him at playing the horn. Maynard was a great human being. I met him and can't possibly say enough about how kind of a person he was. He was an inspiration to all. As far as not being built to play that way, that's incorrect. Anyone can play the upper register. They

  • just have to find what works for them. I've been tiny all my life. 5'6 120 pounds and can completely cover up an entire 50 piece band with a double C if I'd like. Its all about efficient playing. Just find the method that works.

  • Ya, just try playing a set for 3 hrs for 60 years...

  • Back in college I practiced 4 hours a day as an undergrad. After that I'd play my concert band and jazz ensemble rehearsals, one one hour and one almost two. 1st chair in both. I'm not saying I don't respect you and all of the older generation. Maynard is by far one of the greatest who has lived and an amazing person. I'm just saying its not impossible for someone else to play at his level. They won't be the same person or have the same aura, but they could very possibly play at his level.

  • Yes, theres always been High Note Players out there for 100 years, but Maynard has had that special something that seperated him from the rest.Just listenen to hin all through the years starting from the 1940's till 2006,he had a a true gift.I think his way of just note phrasing that made him special, and that quick range, and power with his aura...he loved to hear somany other Horn players, and respected them.He alwas features them in front of the Bandstand.

  • both of you guys need to get over yourselves and enjoy the music man.

  • you play like that?...mmhmm, bullshit.

  • how old is he there?

  • i think buddy probably yelled at Miyashiro after the show for trying steal it lol

  • Why dont you keep your comments to your pathetic self. YOU COMPLETE FAILURE!!!

  • shut up douche bag!!

  • Jazztenor71, Who cares about appearance? It's the playing that really matters.

  • He makes you look like a piece of used toilet paper musically. You should keep your mouth shut.

  • This comment, the one about making someone look like toilet paper, was directed towards the guy who made the weight comment awhile back but somehow got posted here. People who make horrible comments like that just shouldn't speak.

  • no he did not. i have the entire performance on DVD.
