I have built 2 old girls from scratch..the Triumph is great Britains bike, there may have been better IE Manx Norton , Matchless G50 and so and so but the Triumph held up as the long standing good old british bike..I love em. RIP Hughie Hancox
Ah yes. My thumb is a dial-indicator. Perfect. Looks like every single one of these bike were assembled completely by hand - had they never heard of Henry Ford? I own a 67 - I'm going t ride it slower.
Thanks for posting this, it means a lot to so many! Don't own one but I have a few mates who do....great bike ;-)
I'd also like to say a big thank-you to all of those who saved the company way back in the 70's; also reading Ted Simon's book & how he took a 500cc single round the world. 1973, I was 5 & the world was a very different place indeed!
Thank God their still around but I confess, I love the old bikes more; cheers.
Well, these same machines turned out parts for Spads during the first war and we used those to beat the Hun. Why should they not be used today for these exquisite precison marvels of engineering, controlled seepage and all that. Cheerio. Pip Pip.
Thanks for these Triumph films I restored a 1952 speedtwin and won loads of awards for the work, I sold it to a guy in Hitchin and he sends me Christmas cards every year, he loves the bike..Triumphs were great..I might get another ????
At 2pm on Sunday 25th October 2009, a Blue Plaque will be unveiled at 8 Philip Walk , Peckham, London SE15 to commemorate Edward Turner, the MD of Triumph motorcycles, who lived and worked there- ALL INVITED !
Like my 65 T120R, they built all of them that way until the OIF 750cc models. The 750cc 5speed were better motors so I put in a TR7RV motor. Watta hot rod it turned out to be. A true 'they don't build 'em like that any more'!!
Im 57 now, when I was 16/9months & 1 day I bought a second hand 67 T120, It was purple & white. I dont know if this bike was a freak or I was but it was fast, it would burn of every other Triumph i raced Thunderbolts lightnings and an Atlas and beat them no problems, the first motorcycle that blew me away was a Norton Commando witch made me think I was somehow in reverse, Great times from a time when motorcycles did not go like the bullits of today but they sounded good....Brian.

avril2 - The reason you haven’t seen a torque wrench is because those settings needed to be spot on. These were craftsmen I’ll have you know. lol

So far I haven't spotted a single torque wrench.

any idea when this film was made ? mid-late 50's maybe ?
anyone have the similar film they made at bsa in armoury road ?
TIGER908 2 years ago
I'd put it at around 1955-6 as the bike looks like a Thunderbird with pre unit engine / gearbox and swinging arm rear end.

My first bike was a '61 T120, double down tubes, last year for non-units. I must have been crazy to let that one go.
