Anyway, I've never seen a true WC guy extend his arm that straight (and there are reasons why you'd not do that) even if he's doing a couple of other things properly. He's missing out on a lot of key things here.

I go and watch the fight and never once has there ever been a single instance of a guy actually doing Wing Chun. If people believe whatever the fighter "claims", then no wonder they believe WC won't work. Those that know WC will quickly see it's not WC and dismiss it. Let's see real WC, not just people that "claim" to know it when they don't!
all those fighters who lost claiming WT were not trained by Emin. I have trained with both guys in this clip and i assure you the blonde guy is NOT shitting his pants, he is a bad as.
The striking power of Boztepe looks impressive, until you notice that his assistant is standing completely square and indeed any push will send him stumbling and falling. Judokas, karatekas, boxers, anyone can replicate this feat.
Well, to be fair, I think Boztepe is able to *PUSH* relatively well with this technique. When you do what he does - drop down your sholders, flex your spine muscles to make shoulder blades parallel - then moving an arm forward is done not with the deltoids, but rather with more stronger pecs. The movement becomes something not unlike a one-handed dumbbell press. In that sense, wing chun punch is very similar biomechanically to a tsuki of karate - and not very effective as a punch.
@kenderesster a couple of months ago i saw a martial arts science documentary on national geographic channel.
A chinese monk trained in wing chun delivered a punch on a punchbag, some scientists attached all kind of equipment
to it and could not believe what they saw on their monitors, his punch equaled (in pounds measured) the punch of a heavy weight boxer though the chinese guy was not build as a heavyweight boxer and was not very muscled. Wing chun punch is proven VERY effective.
I am sceptical both to the effectivity of wing-chun type of punch and to the credibility of documentary series, whatever they say. And if I recall properly, Fight Science did an episode about punching and the punch of wushu master (similar to wing-chun) came last in terms of power. So there.
And really, the power is not the fatal flaw of wing-chun punch. Have you considered that doing it properly - standing square and dropping shoulders - dramatically lowers reach and defense?
@kenderesster The wushu master in Fight Science did the one inch punch. Even so it had enough power to cause an concussion. Had a wing chunner done the punch full strenght it wouldve been higher. The nice thing about the WC punch is that its fast and effective and you can throw 3 punches before you're opponent can throw 1. Also what ever you may say - you don't want to feel a full forced WC punch thrusting through you're face.
@kenderesster What you forgotten in your arguments is that in wing chun you generate the most power through the hip (like boxers do). That together with the technique you described makes a powerful inpact, and not alone punches but also open palmstrikes/deflects and pushes.
(Of course, if you need to shove somebody, like in judo, there are still better ways to push, like using your whole body instead of one muscle, for a start).
@q0x Sounds like something similar to legit traditional Bak Mei. But Bak Mei more concaves their chest in, like a kind of hunching their upper back, then straightening it out for another strike. A rising sinking motion for rising and sinking strikes.
what a punk si-fu...no offence but when you show somebody you dont have to actually hit him...Thats disrespect for your student or whatever....Ithink his got behaviour problems...He has to "lower" his nose if he wants to be really good
@diegos781 To let you know, this assistant is actually another si- fu, I think his name is Sean Casey. That said, I do remember Emin sending me back 2 metres with just a simple push at one of his seminars. I don't think its disrespect to the student, the amount of force generated by Emin's body and his velocity, however fast or slow, is the principle of wing tzun. This art was designed to fend off stronger opponents, and Im sure even a beginner could harness considerable force. No pain, no gain
@realsoundtracks LOL that would be even worse for your wing chun guy! how could your wing chun perform with a full on kimora armbreak or waking up with your eye balls plucked out after being put to sleep by a full on rear naked choke!!
@realsoundtracks I Bet you would like that huh faag! Well No thanks Im not gay sorry, and lets just finish this conversation now because your starting to get immature for the fact that you realize im probably right.
@realsoundtracks Bullshit. You must have missed early MMA bouts with "sifus" Scott Baker, Steve Faulkner, and Asbel Cancio, all Wing Chun fighters, all lost. Don't believe me; look it up.
@southtxguitarist, a lot of people call themselves a "sifu", an expert/master and claim they fight with a certain style, but they usually aren't what they claim. This isn't just the case for WC, but for any style in existence. A few guys making the claim and losing is just those guys losing. Plenty of people claim to be a kickboxer, boxer, BJJ, etc. and completely suck at it and lose the match. Not to mention it's a sport. It only means something about those fighters,
It is amazing to me how many people will trash talk another system to try to build theirs up and make themselves feel superior. If you have something that works for you, then go with it. Own it and say it "fits" you. I have studied various arts for almost 30 years and took my first Ebmas class yesterday. It has a lot to offer. Is it the best? Who knows! Is grappling behind a chain link octagon the best? No idea. Who cares...we should all be supporting one another and not finding division.
@noformstyle He challenged the Gracies back in 94 and called the UFC a staged event. Rorion sent him invitation after invitation to fight exclusively one of the Gracies in a sigle match on UFC. Boztepe never accepted and had a million excuses not to fight. Dude was a bully, not a fighter.
@TheDiseaseDevil Unlike Boztepe, the Gracies FOUGHT, won some, lost some, but they friggin DIT IT. The Wing Chun folks still owe the public a fight in an NHB event. Boztepe had many poprtunities to prove his skills. But instead he simply continued to brag about his beating up Willie Cheung back in 1986 in Germany. A fight that quickly went to the ground and looked a lot more like MMA today, than Wing Chun.
@jbravo41 un huh, u no wut, i just bought a pair "protective" gloves thats thin enough (the kind thats slightly thinner than a mma glove, and quite light), and i went to a local gym to ask for a friendly spar around 2 weeks ago, and they refused when i insisted to use my gloves, becuz their low mass! wut u trying to prove?
I remember going to a seminar years ago with Boztepe & he was demonstrating an entrance/punch where the leg moves from a neutral stance & punch. I looked at him with the straightest face said "I've seen the videos, can I just lay on the ground and grovel in pain?" He looked at me & said "No" and punched me in the chest. I kept my hands behind my back. He said "Do you see?" and I said "Yes" and he said "Good watch again" & hit me again. He ended up hitting me 6 times. Worst pain I'd been in ever.
MMA practitioners know that in the street, no one will use rules. MMA fans don't know that because they have never been in a fight. Wing Tsun would be useless in the cage because the MMA rules would prohibit half of the moves. On the other hand, MMA is useless against someone that attacks you in the neck.
What the hell? Is he saying that is arm is stretching? Because he is extending his shoulder when he punches, something a moment before he said he would not do!
lol @utube warriors like lordslayer who definitely never trained any fighting system but commenting about things they have no clou about. You guys are really entertaining. :D
@jomushin7 my WingTsun teacher is a little out too :)) check him out : Maxim Valentin ......he's the only one in the world with one arm practicing this kung fu :D respect to all martial arts!
@lordslayer22 Of course you think that, you're so stupid you don't even end your sentences with a period. I bet even getting to this video was hard for you.
You didn't even start your sentence with a capital letter.
@lordslayer22 Haa, cute. Still no period, and now you start the sentence with.. 14 capital letters? Too much dude.. I'll just keep laughing at you and your silly attempts to seem smart. You think that you can fight your way through life with your little MMA techniques and your cocky attitude. That's EXACTLY what's wrong with the majority of the fans of MMA. No thought processes.
@DatajProductions Thats right, i train in MMA and most of the guys think its the unstoppable system, and its not...No knife defense, gun disarm, just ways to win a competitional fight.
@minasz Hmm, I wouldn't try that move against Emin. You'd get your left cross swatted out of the way and find yourself waking up with a concerned crowd around you long before you could think about blinking.
@lordslayer22 ok, mma is karate and muay thai and bjj and kickboxing and wrestling and judo and and and, it´s the same as if you are saying 10 cars are better then one car, you are a joke
This chop suey shit has been tried and tested in real fighting, even in the early fighting days of no hold barred. its a joke and waste of life to even bother learning this crap. If you gonna learn anything, learn boxing and and grappling submissions.
@mysticpiggyx I watced one of your favorite vid.Good fight but..A wt fighter would hit the back side of the neck at first time when he had the opportunity(something which is forbidden!!)or a wt will never try to catch but hit in eyes neck, balls, everywhere(which also is forbidden). So ...life is not only ring
@BringerOfTheTruth thats true, BAS RUTTEN went to him and EBoztepe was so scared and said ,, hey guys im just doin my business i dont fight with anyone and its all about making money, so he left without hurting miss boztepe lmao
@BringerOfTheTruth isnt she ? lol .. bus rutten said .,, hey ur the guy who challenged gracies and now you claim to be the best chicken wings and shit ? cmon bring it on ,,, miss boztepe so scared said , nouuuuuuu im just a girlie man minding my own business .please dont hurt me . lmao
@pornpan96 You sould change anyway the name because i didnt anything about porn!!You said it so you probably think it!Secondly even emin is one of the best i am not his client. And i speak like client you idiot because there is no famous fighter who has no clients in every style. That is their work!!Tell me one who teaches for free.Aboyut bas rutten i dont know the story but thinking logically these kind of fights are for big money..Think
@dlvt79 listen kid ,first of all i know emin better than you and anyone else around him , second emin is not one of the best, he is one of the smartest and a businessman ,and yes as you mention its all about making living and thats what he is been doin but he made few short cuts along the way and thats what gave him the reputation of not being a martial artist but a thug with buncha people hating him ,a true martial artist no matter what would not attack a respected senior MAist ,NEVER
yah im 100% sure none of you would say that to Emin's face cuz it looks to me that guy could probably drop any one in the world in about .1 seconds. Badass!!!
@pornpan96 There is no only one real wt!Ip man the same fought different when he was younger and different when he was older. When you are strong you loose a bit of tecknik, when you become less stronger you must be more expert of the art. That is why many students of ip man train different. The oldest learned the hard style and the newest the soft style. The diferrence is that if you master the soft you master the hard..but not the opposite.
@dlvt79 now when it comes to wing chun its no different than any other martial arts con business, its all about seminars and making money, emin always claimed so many things but so far none to be true, none of his so called 300 fights, none of his except attacking william cheung behind in 1986 and not only being so disrespectful of such action but using that in youtube was disgusting and the funny thing he openly told me that he made that attack just to be heard ! just like his fake challanges !
@pornpan96 I have no doupt that most of your words are real about making money but i am sure that he is one of the best.I cant say about his character(maybe he is idiot) but i speak for his capabilities.Thats my opinion.I can learn the best from someone who can teach the best. Its not symbol or blind obey.My sifu also is known as bad character and thats true in some points but i wont marry him.He is top in what he does. The behavior limits are different for people.
@dlvt79 everyone is entitled to their own opinions, there are no best of anythin in life, there are only better and thats how we all improve and expand .life itself is just like that, we dont have 2011 model cars next year,. most people claims of BL to be the best martial artist. but to me BL was a kung fu movie actor with a limited wing chun knowledge and he was never a fighter, martial arts is not about being top or bottom or best or the worse . its all about behavior ! nothing else !
@dlvt79 there are no masters of anytthing but practitioners. some are seniors some jr, i dont know where that came from but there s no such term in wing chun as dai sifu , lol ..emin boztepe is a funny guy but i like him he is a smart businessman !
Emin boztepe is not a wing chun man and most of his actions are connected to shotokan karate, fist of his german teacher the fatso kern and his teacher mental leung ting who named wing chun as wing tsun lmao
so emin boztepe dont realize that he never learned the actual wing chun
but using his thug mind combined with shotokan karate
he can fool all of you but not me cuz we faced eachother face TO FACE ! but hey its all about the MA seminar con biz so we must wish the guy the best ! lol
@dlvt79 no need to search for clients ,pornpan is a thai name not the porn u love to jerk off to ,lol.,,emin boztepe got stupid clients like you to fool and thats all you can get lmao
what he is saying is not that he doesnt use shoulder, but he doesnt rotate shoulder and waist like a boxer would, he keeps shoulders square and uses a fwd motion on punch and also a backward motion behind the shoulder to generate his force
I trained with Boztepe several times (back in the late '90s and early '00s)... He's a massively talented and powerful athlete (beyond belief, really) with quite a poor technique. Had he been more humble and willing to learn from different masters (not only Wing Chun masters), he would now be one of the greatest martial art legends, respected and feared by everybody.
@bordereye I can't say I have personally trained with Sifu Emin, but I have trained with his students, and I can tell you, athletically inclined or not, the technique is there. Whatever your views are on what the man is teaching, it works.
@TheHibernator It would be too long to explain how I know Emin doesn't know much about Wing Chun. I'm not telling you what he teaches never works... all fighting techniques work to some degree as long as you are fit and aggressive enough. I know guys who are dangerous fighters and never trained. But take my word for it, Emin is an exceptionally gifted athlete (he was my hero for years) with quite poor technique - in particular, his (anti) ground fighting system is a joke.
@bordereye I have to agree with hibernator, I have a good friend who trained WC with Sifu Emin for 3 years and now teaches on his own. Boztefe has a valid training method which has translated well into a whole branch of street oriented WC. However, my friend also admits that Emin is a gifted athlete who breaks the orthodoxy of WC at various points, this however, is not a bad thing. These are innovations that work.
@tomchaudoin0one I know him pretty well and some of his students as well. His 'unorthodoxy' is mainly due to actual lack of knowledge rather than spirit of innovation. That said, I repeat he's a great athlete and a dangerous fighter who won't become a legend of kung fu only because he hasn't been humble enough to ask other masters with deeper knowledge to teach him.
@bordereye the fact is he is passing on some good training which I have felt firsthand. However, if I was going to study WC formally anywhere I could choose I would more than likely study with Gary Lam. Which lines of WC do you approve?
@tomchaudoin0one I respect anyone of any line (traditional and non-traditional) as long as they are humble, honest and open-minded (that is they don't think WC is the ultimate art of fighting, because it's not). Among them are not Leung Ting/Kerspecht and William Cheung. I don't know Gary Lam personally, but I find his videos interesting.
@tomchaudoin0one i been around wc circles for many years, i gotta say i met guys from every branch that are great. I would love to train with emin, he seems to have an internal understanding of mechanics that most chinese teachers do not openly share. For structure im most impressed with him, gary lam, and hawkins, and even augustine fong has very solid structure. Of course all their systems vary but key is body structure and they all have it.
@shifudan All the guys you just mentioned Hawkins Cheung, Gary Lam, Emin Boztepe, and Augustine Fong have lineague to Yip Man, Gary Lam, and Boztepe trained under students of Yip man and i dont know about Sifu Fong and as for Hawkings Cheung? HE IS A STUDENT OF YIP MAN He sparred with Bruce Lee at seventy years old he still moves unbelivably fast.
@Mider999 i am familiar with all those guys, none is really overall better than another,(no way to prove it) all have their own way. we had hawklins out to ny for seminars in early 90's i been a fan of his for a while. Doesnt mater who trained directly under yip or not, most those guys under yip all learned at early ages and many were missing pieces. also yip taught different people different things. All the guys i mentioned have something great, also duncan leung, etc.
@shifudan There all pretty good from what ive heard. Hawkins Cheung and Gary Lam modify the wing chun a bit to suit todays standards i think for sure Hawkins Cheung does. But Emin Boztepe adds Escrima ive also heard that Yip Man never taught the entire system to anyone student but even in his old age gave a black eye to Bruce Lee is what Ive heard.
@bordereye i dont see how that can be said as he never loses structure of leung ting version, to say he has poor technique, im unsure what you mean, what about his technique is poor
The most people don`t understand how WT works! When I did meet Wt at 1st time Ididn`t understand it,too.I saw it with Kickboxers eyes and the soul of a TaeKwonDo-Fighter. But what Emin shows works much better, specially in fightingsituations, than boxing punch or Budopower! You don`t believe?Dig it!
One should try to not be confused by what he/she perceives the instructor to be doing; I'm an Aikido student and often my instructor will do something that I think will be easy because of how I think he's moving; but when it's my turn to try it out I find that it wasn't what it looked like at all, there are many hidden, subtle movements that are the driving force behind a given technique, you have to be open to learning and not dismiss things/people before you try yourself. This guy is good.
I use to do Wing Tsun and now practice Bagua...very similarities on how to distribute power. Nevertheless...Emin is AWESOME. U can do nothing but give immediate respect.
@supperdupperman1 Sorry, it's not gr8 stuff at all. Do you think he's telling the truth when he says he's not using his shoulder to punch and it's all about the flexibility of the tendons in the arm? To quote him "just from the elbow...because of stretching". You don't have to watch the video that carefully to see it's from his shoulder coming forward. It's complete bullshit.
@llionpride Tendons do not stretch longitudinally from the inertia of a fist! Don't be a retard! How many milimeters do you think they will stretch in such a matter?
@wikichris Dude, dont call me a retard ok..its not appropriate. All im saying is that tendons stretch..which is in fact dangerous as they are attached to the bone. Dont forget he is turkish so his explanations might not be accurate. Im not saying I agree with him, i just thought you misunderstood what he said. When he executes the punch his shoulder actually moves forward from what i saw.
@llionpride I apologise. They do not stretch anywhere NEAR what would be required by his explanation. If you watch the video he does exactly what he says he doesn't do and that's use his shoulder as you have noticed. Most people refuse to notice that since they are blinded by his BS. He IS a fraud. It's nothing to do with second-language english.
@wikichris i didn't know who emin boztepe is before watching this video, so im no fanboy. however, even i understand what he means. with any punch, of COURSE your shoulder is gonna move. however, what he means is that, instead of his power coming from body momentum and administered through his shoulder, the wing tsun punch gets it's power from compression and therefore originates from the elbow area. also, when he refers to the tendon stretching, he means extending by using tendon movement.
@Muzishan2 "of course your shoulder is gonna move" - So why does he insist his doesn't? Please talk sense. "when he refers to the tendon stretching, he means extending by using tendon movement" - No. That's not what he demonstrates. He shows that with his arm stretched he cannot reach his target. You claim not to be a fanboy but I have no idea why you are defending this shite. Read the history of this man.
The amount of things you can pick up in this video to prove my point is hilarious. 1. He uses a smaller partner with short arms. 2. He gets the partner to stand square on with his feet together!!! Jesus Christ...my grandma could take me down if I stood with my feet together. 3. You don't even need to watch carefully that he does exactly what he tells you he isn't doing and that's using his shoulder. It clearly jumps out. 4. The explanation of longitudally elastic tendons is just priceless.
Guys, you only have to listen to a couple of sentences of this video to know Emin is a fraud who talks a lot of shit. There's a lot of debate about who did/said what with WC and Royce Gracie etc. etc. but it's pretty clear from his descriptions of being able to punch people just from the stretching of tendons...BULL...SHIT. The guy is clearly quite athletic and a good salesman make a living from this crap.
@Daggerworda ...every punch comes from the legs up....the elbow is only the 5th point ;-) .... and all those points combine as one,one movement ive you know how...or if they would teach it correctly right away.....and whu ever is stronger or faster has the powerful punch and not any kind of system or fightingsport.....
i dont get it. why is punching in a particular way so important? in a fight, you would probably fight just like in the "martial arts gone wrong" video. and even more suprisingly you would survive :)
@Antimortem wrong. any time ive needed this stuff its been there with out a thought. Why else would we throw thousands of chain punches. it is our most fundamentally effective and reliable tool. i just need a punch that gets there first and never lets them off the hook.
i LOVE it when people say that this guy was AMAZING and had over 300 fights but he didnt need to be caught on camera since they were street fights and why would he need to do it in the ring if he was on the street
ahahahahahahahahaahah
this is fucking hilarious. This guy is no fighter and you guys are just to fucking stupid to see that, i bet you think bruce lee could take mike tyson too
@schulleee we use the back leg for many reasons. we favor stability in our stance over power. and it gives us a 3rd striking tool available at all times. if you have mor questions id be happy to answer
@jjhaywood Karate is not as effective as WT. Even if the punch is more powerful, it means nothing if a WT guy is already kicking your ass before you've landed a punch.
@xxxGrahamMitchellxxx That's why karate fighters have defeated WC guys over and over again in challenges. That's why great fighters the likes of Andy Hug, Bas Rutten and even GSP started out in karate. That's why of all the pro fighters there are no elites that use WC.
@Emperordante most wing tsun dudes are former kickboxers or karate fighters..wt is real..forget the ufc shit or any ring art..roid heads with tattoos rolling around for 5 rounds is a street fight for u???? The ring cant be compared with the street..but i have no time explaining it here to people who never had a fight in their life..for people who are scared to go out on a saturday night and for people who fantasise about ufc fighters.
@GenghisKhanization I was replying to the guy who said that wing tsun is "more effective than karate" which is totally untrue. I never once said that wing tsun "isnt real", it just isn't as utilitarian karate. Some of the top fighters in the world are former karatekas, where as NONE are gung fu guys.
The way in which you malign MMA as just some gay sport where guys roll around on each other leads me to believe that it is you who doesn't respect martial arts.
I trained with both. Si-Fu Michael is incredible, and he has many awards (you seem to care about ring for more than the real thing, so I say it). He's also a great guy. He teaches in LA area (last time I checked) so you may wanna try yourself. As for Si-Fu Emin, I wouldn't even talk about the great contributions he has to the world of martial arts, not only WT. Stop being a fake copy/paste, stop comparing, go to a WT class, and learn. Knowledge beats bitching. Good day.
I'm not a boztepe fan, but I just wanted to share my opinion. lots of people think he is fake and he would get his ass kicked if he had fought in UFC etc. how retarded is that? all those beloved fighters of yours had probably learned how to fight from instructors like emin. besides, people fight in the UFC and alikes because of two things: money and title. he has the money, and he is already one of the highest ranked guys in martial arts. I mean why would he fight?
I was at a seminar with Emin the other day. Believe me when I say there is lots of power in his hits. I know he was holding back, yet my body is still aching. It was a great experience training with him. 1 2 3 EBMAS Denmark :-)

And all the time his rear hand is down, asking for his opponent to land one on his chin.
I like certain techniques from wing chun but I think the punches and stance are its weak point.
I would much prefer to use boxing for my stance and strikes.

Exactly!!! Its a trick I used to use to impress stupid people LOL
I would have them stand square on to me, and do a one inch punch to their chest. They would go flying and everyone would be impressed LOL!
Try it when they stand side-on(a typical fighting stance, by the way) and they barely move.
I think a lot of traditional martial arts rely on trickery to fool its audiences and students. I still love certain aspects of them though.

@jbravo41 right, what do u call someone who doesnt dare to step out of the protection of UFC fans?
TheDiseaseDevil 8 months ago

On the other hand, MMA is useless against someone that attacks you in the neck.

dlvt79 11 months ago
@dlvt79 now when it comes to wing chun its no different than any other martial arts con business, its all about seminars and making money, emin always claimed so many things but so far none to be true, none of his so called 300 fights, none of his except attacking william cheung behind in 1986 and not only being so disrespectful of such action but using that in youtube was disgusting and the funny thing he openly told me that he made that attack just to be heard ! just like his fake challanges !
pornpan96 11 months ago
@pornpan96 I have no doupt that most of your words are real about making money but i am sure that he is one of the best.I cant say about his character(maybe he is idiot) but i speak for his capabilities.Thats my opinion.I can learn the best from someone who can teach the best. Its not symbol or blind obey.My sifu also is known as bad character and thats true in some points but i wont marry him.He is top in what he does. The behavior limits are different for people.
dlvt79 11 months ago
@dlvt79 everyone is entitled to their own opinions, there are no best of anythin in life, there are only better and thats how we all improve and expand .life itself is just like that, we dont have 2011 model cars next year,. most people claims of BL to be the best martial artist. but to me BL was a kung fu movie actor with a limited wing chun knowledge and he was never a fighter, martial arts is not about being top or bottom or best or the worse . its all about behavior ! nothing else !

I trained with Boztepe several times (back in the late '90s and early '00s)... He's a massively talented and powerful athlete (beyond belief, really) with quite a poor technique. Had he been more humble and willing to learn from different masters (not only Wing Chun masters), he would now be one of the greatest martial art legends, respected and feared by everybody.
bordereye 1 year ago
@bordereye "quite a poor technique"? you sure he didn't knock you out in a second, and you're not evaluating a pink rabbit dancing around your head?
YTDRUMS 1 year ago
@bordereye I can't say I have personally trained with Sifu Emin, but I have trained with his students, and I can tell you, athletically inclined or not, the technique is there. Whatever your views are on what the man is teaching, it works.
TheHibernator 1 year ago
@TheHibernator It would be too long to explain how I know Emin doesn't know much about Wing Chun. I'm not telling you what he teaches never works... all fighting techniques work to some degree as long as you are fit and aggressive enough. I know guys who are dangerous fighters and never trained. But take my word for it, Emin is an exceptionally gifted athlete (he was my hero for years) with quite poor technique - in particular, his (anti) ground fighting system is a joke.
bordereye 1 year ago
@bordereye I have to agree with hibernator, I have a good friend who trained WC with Sifu Emin for 3 years and now teaches on his own. Boztefe has a valid training method which has translated well into a whole branch of street oriented WC. However, my friend also admits that Emin is a gifted athlete who breaks the orthodoxy of WC at various points, this however, is not a bad thing. These are innovations that work.
tomchaudoin0one 1 year ago
@tomchaudoin0one I know him pretty well and some of his students as well. His 'unorthodoxy' is mainly due to actual lack of knowledge rather than spirit of innovation. That said, I repeat he's a great athlete and a dangerous fighter who won't become a legend of kung fu only because he hasn't been humble enough to ask other masters with deeper knowledge to teach him.
bordereye 1 year ago
@bordereye the fact is he is passing on some good training which I have felt firsthand. However, if I was going to study WC formally anywhere I could choose I would more than likely study with Gary Lam. Which lines of WC do you approve?
tomchaudoin0one 1 year ago
@tomchaudoin0one I respect anyone of any line (traditional and non-traditional) as long as they are humble, honest and open-minded (that is they don't think WC is the ultimate art of fighting, because it's not). Among them are not Leung Ting/Kerspecht and William Cheung. I don't know Gary Lam personally, but I find his videos interesting.
bordereye 1 year ago
@tomchaudoin0one i been around wc circles for many years, i gotta say i met guys from every branch that are great. I would love to train with emin, he seems to have an internal understanding of mechanics that most chinese teachers do not openly share. For structure im most impressed with him, gary lam, and hawkins, and even augustine fong has very solid structure. Of course all their systems vary but key is body structure and they all have it.
shifudan 1 year ago
@shifudan All the guys you just mentioned Hawkins Cheung, Gary Lam, Emin Boztepe, and Augustine Fong have lineague to Yip Man, Gary Lam, and Boztepe trained under students of Yip man and i dont know about Sifu Fong and as for Hawkings Cheung? HE IS A STUDENT OF YIP MAN He sparred with Bruce Lee at seventy years old he still moves unbelivably fast.
Mider999 1 year ago
@Mider999 i am familiar with all those guys, none is really overall better than another,(no way to prove it) all have their own way. we had hawklins out to ny for seminars in early 90's i been a fan of his for a while. Doesnt mater who trained directly under yip or not, most those guys under yip all learned at early ages and many were missing pieces. also yip taught different people different things. All the guys i mentioned have something great, also duncan leung, etc.
shifudan 1 year ago
@shifudan There all pretty good from what ive heard. Hawkins Cheung and Gary Lam modify the wing chun a bit to suit todays standards i think for sure Hawkins Cheung does. But Emin Boztepe adds Escrima ive also heard that Yip Man never taught the entire system to anyone student but even in his old age gave a black eye to Bruce Lee is what Ive heard.
Mider999 1 year ago
@bordereye i dont see how that can be said as he never loses structure of leung ting version, to say he has poor technique, im unsure what you mean, what about his technique is poor

It's complete bullshit.

wikichris 1 year ago
@wikichris He didnt say elbows stretch..he means the tendons stretch, which is fact.
llionpride 1 year ago
@llionpride Tendons do not stretch longitudinally from the inertia of a fist! Don't be a retard! How many milimeters do you think they will stretch in such a matter?
wikichris 1 year ago
@wikichris Dude, dont call me a retard ok..its not appropriate. All im saying is that tendons stretch..which is in fact dangerous as they are attached to the bone. Dont forget he is turkish so his explanations might not be accurate. Im not saying I agree with him, i just thought you misunderstood what he said. When he executes the punch his shoulder actually moves forward from what i saw.
llionpride 1 year ago
@llionpride I apologise. They do not stretch anywhere NEAR what would be required by his explanation. If you watch the video he does exactly what he says he doesn't do and that's use his shoulder as you have noticed. Most people refuse to notice that since they are blinded by his BS. He IS a fraud. It's nothing to do with second-language english.
wikichris 1 year ago
@wikichris i didn't know who emin boztepe is before watching this video, so im no fanboy. however, even i understand what he means. with any punch, of COURSE your shoulder is gonna move. however, what he means is that, instead of his power coming from body momentum and administered through his shoulder, the wing tsun punch gets it's power from compression and therefore originates from the elbow area. also, when he refers to the tendon stretching, he means extending by using tendon movement.
Muzishan2 1 year ago
@Muzishan2 "of course your shoulder is gonna move" - So why does he insist his doesn't? Please talk sense. "when he refers to the tendon stretching, he means extending by using tendon movement" - No. That's not what he demonstrates. He shows that with his arm stretched he cannot reach his target. You claim not to be a fanboy but I have no idea why you are defending this shite. Read the history of this man.
wikichris 1 year ago
@wikichris well i must agree with you, your right
supperdupperman1 1 year ago
The amount of things you can pick up in this video to prove my point is hilarious. 1. He uses a smaller partner with short arms. 2. He gets the partner to stand square on with his feet together!!! Jesus Christ...my grandma could take me down if I stood with my feet together. 3. You don't even need to watch carefully that he does exactly what he tells you he isn't doing and that's using his shoulder. It clearly jumps out. 4. The explanation of longitudally elastic tendons is just priceless.
wikichris 1 year ago
Guys, you only have to listen to a couple of sentences of this video to know Emin is a fraud who talks a lot of shit. There's a lot of debate about who did/said what with WC and Royce Gracie etc. etc. but it's pretty clear from his descriptions of being able to punch people just from the stretching of tendons...BULL...SHIT. The guy is clearly quite athletic and a good salesman make a living from this crap.

@GenghisKhanization I was replying to the guy who said that wing tsun is "more effective than karate" which is totally untrue.
