Thank you for this. I've watched a bunch of instructional videos on this tube, and virtually none of them have been useful. However, I found this one to be extremely helpful. Can't thank you enough.
You have been extemely helpful. You are the first to explain the guitar and make me not only see, but understand it as well. I have been writing down your instructions, and I can pause and rewind when needed. I just think that if I were an actual student of yours, you'd be patient with the my TERRIBLE skills!! Thanks a heap ;-)
I also wish this video had the finger placement chart like on your chord video so I can easily refer to it when i cant remember which string my finger goes on. I don't know all the names of the strings.
covertcognomen - electrics just feel that way... they're alot easier to play as the strings are lower to the fretboard. i love playing electrics as they're so easy, but the sound of the accoustic is more beautiful
ryan196 you can buy thumb picks which slide onto your thumb and stay there. it makes it easy to learn strumming patterns without the pick slipping out of your hand. they're kinda in the shape of a D so it fits really comfortably- just make sure you get the right size, some are really tiny...and try to get plastic ones-i bought a metal one and it changes the sound, it makes my accoustic sound bad.
MY FINGERS ARE BURNING! The strings feel like knives burning into my skin...
Do new strings on acoustic guitars tend to be more stiff? I tried my friend's electric guitar which was bought a few years ago and the strings were very flexible and easy to press. Am I doing something wrong?
well really i think it doesnt matter what strings u use becuase they will all hurt your fingers at first but you'll get used to it. though it think steel strings tend to hurt more
MY FINGERS HURT SO BAD! :( ive been playing for a couple days and i had my guitar tuned twice but for some reason none of my cords sound like yours. what could i be doing wrong?
Hi. I just started playing in January of this year. My instructor told me that the standard tuning is the 440 Hz tuning. Some people tune to anywhere they want between 430 and 450. Get yourself a digital tuner for 20 bucks if you haven't already. They work great and have presets to check tuning anywhere between 430 and 450 Hz. Maybe this guy's tuning is different from 440.
I started playing guitar a few months ago and ive been taking lesson so my teacher tunes it for us each time we come. Ive been trying to use the tuner built into my guitar but every time i go to my lesson its always off tune, even if i tune it right bofore i come....do you have any idea what im doing wrong?
Does your built-in tuner have a range from 1 to 7? If so, then one of those tunings, 1,2,3,4,5,6, or 7 must be 440. To find out which, be sure to thoroughly read your instructional manual if you haven't. By the way. . . ask your teacher to teach you how to tune your guitar with the built-in-tuner. If he or she does it for you all the time, then you'll never learn to do it for yourself. Learn how to do it for yorself and you will always be able to play in tune. Keep up the good work!
I started playing guitar 2 months ago and i had the same problem, I was not pressing down hard enough on the strings. Then I tried pressing down harder and i was pressing down too hard, I finally got it. So try either pressing harder or not pressing as hard.
Hey, Major thanks for the videos! keep them coming really really helpful and i am sure the rest of the youtube community appreciates your effort to put these videos up just as much as i do!
hey! excellent videos, good quality and very helpful tips!, but sometimes its hard to hear what your saying over the guitar. Try turning the volume down abit? :)
You do a excellent job of showing how to play the chords put i dont understand how to strum at all are you suppose to strum all the strings everytime or just certain ones i get lost.
i just started messing around wit the guittar and i started watchin your videos they were very helpful, excellent teacher! if you get a chance could you make a vid with a diagram of all the chords. it would be appreciated. thanks again!
You are an excellent teacher, everything is clear and well explained. The video quality is fine as well. Hope to see more lessons from you in the future, there's plenty to learn!

That you are left handed is a great help. In addition, of course to your knowledge, organization of information, and relaxed teaching style.
