Mr. Peterson's style gives me that... wonderful, inspired and happy state of mind that i had in my childhood. Reminds me of Tom&Jerry. The one where Jerry runs to the a big city from a quiet village house at night, and then comes back. Same feeling, warm and easy, your troubles don't seem to matter anymore, and life seems so interesting. It's like really living the life, not just observing it. Amazing, words can't tell how amazing.
If you like this, check out his duo work with Diz. It sounds like three people are playing the piano. I've never heard such amazing skills. Oscar is truly amazing

@mhemmer039 I can't believe your dissing NHOP. How ignorant can you be. NHOP's bass tone is one of the prime tones of a jazz bass anybody who plays jazz bass strives to achieve..
This composition is by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington's arranger, composer, and friend. Strayhorn also composed "After All" and arranged the 1950s version of "Prelude to a Kiss" that featured Johnny Hodges on alto saxophone.
OP's fingers are loyal servants to his great mind. The Duke and Stray were Giants. Not too many better could've payed a greater tribute to them than OP and this crew with him!
Speechless!!! And rightly so; my tongue should be cut out if I attempted to describe what I'm feeling because it requires a far far greater command of words and the language than I could muster in doing so.
What genius, imagination, and talent this man possessed, not to even mention the other musicians - they're awesome. The sweet, quiet complement of the drums...and that bass - opening and holding the door open for OP to come and go as he pleases. That whole set-up is just plain nasty.
perhaps the nicest thing i have ever heard oscar do --- magnificent bass line --- intonationally perfect --- wow wow wow --- where is the next Oscar gonna come from .
oh my god. just incredible. Oscar Peterson lived just up the street from me.. in mississauga, wish i knew him and appreciated his music while he was still alive
The exquisiteness that emits from such finger movement can only be described as being derived from the highest potential..one that only raw talent can produce.
@coosoorlog Couldn't agree more. This is quite beautiful music and a complete spectrum of Oscar Peterson. In some places very few notes, in others many - as he likes to do.
