  • ...........(Speechless :P)

  • Mr. Peterson's style gives me that... wonderful, inspired and happy state of mind that i had in my childhood. Reminds me of Tom&Jerry. The one where Jerry runs to the a big city from a quiet village house at night, and then comes back. Same feeling, warm and easy, your troubles don't seem to matter anymore, and life seems so interesting. It's like really living the life, not just observing it. Amazing, words can't tell how amazing.

  • The dream continues! thanks

  • This is what I call incredible! What fine musicians and what lovely faces! Their music exudes warmth and genuine skill! Outstanding!

  • (Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of joujii99 at twitter)

  • Those 9 people who hit dislike must have completely missed their train

  • @rubenverweij Love it! Well done! I find it incredible! Two of the greatest!

  • timing come true

  • elegant touch of the blues....

  • Muchas gracias, señor Peterson.

  • video mezzo tagliato -.-

  • I like it! *____*

  • es fantástico ♪ ♪ ♪

  • está bueno ver los gestos de Oscar... pero estaría más bueno ver como toca las teclas más tiempo

  • This is definately one of the best jazz performances I have ever heard. Plain incredible.

  • He's got to be American!

  • How sweet to see or hear him singing wihle he plays. Like Glenn Gould. =)

  • @blacksk4 haha I was gonna post the same comment. One of the best parts of pianists lol I love hearing them sing.

  • No manners, No class, No style...those are the one who don't like this.

  • Who the F disliked this?

  • Great picture quality man!

  • Music so beautifully play, there is simply nothing to say. Just beautiful.

  • @ConsumerOfNothing That's the wrong train man!

  • What about Oscar and NHOP playing " Take the A Train --- " at their Russian Concert ?

    BAZWIL

  • i swear he says "fu*k off" at 2:33........

But such a light touch, i could live off this playing

  • i swear he says "fu*k off" at 2:33........

  • nothing like cutting off the video right before it resolves.... :(

  • I do believe this song is by Billy Strayhorn, not Duke Ellington.

  • If you like this, check out his duo work with Diz. It sounds like three people are playing the piano. I've never heard such amazing skills. Oscar is truly amazing

  • What can you say? It's Oscar. The absolute greatest ever. If you like this. Chr

  • @Dantej24 My friend, you said what is absoul lutely true!!!!!

  • have heard them all play duke ell take the a train but oscar peterson rendition is the best i have ever heard so soomh he was greatest BR

  • is this a recorded album? I want to buy this

  • Wow! Very moving ...

  • it is an unique trio !! Just a word of tribute to Martin Drew on drums, an critical support at the ensemble...

  • Great playing

  • Wonderful new Dick Hyman master class now on youtube. Dick discusses his career and musical concepts, plays two beautiful tunes, and plays duo pianos with NYC jazz piano monster Dave Frank. You will enjoy this! Type in "Dave Frank" Dick Hyman into youtube search.

  • I do not even sweat like he use to do, so play the piano... just in dreams !

  • so tasty

  • @mhemmer039 I can't believe your dissing NHOP. How ignorant can you be. NHOP's bass tone is one of the prime tones of a jazz bass anybody who plays jazz bass strives to achieve..

  • Is it just me, or is that the worst bass sound?

  • @mhemmer039 just you

  • @mhemmer039 Do you not know what bass is supposed to sound like?!

  • @mhemmer039 It's just you. Totally.

  • @mhemmer039 it's the best bass sound I've ever heard.

  • This composition is by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington's arranger, composer, and friend. Strayhorn also composed "After All" and arranged the 1950s version of "Prelude to a Kiss" that featured Johnny Hodges on alto saxophone.

  • is it possible to find these recordings on cd or mp3... or anywhere for that matter?

  • OP's fingers are loyal servants to his great mind. The Duke and Stray were Giants. Not too many better could've payed a greater tribute to them than OP and this crew with him!

  • Speechless!!! And rightly so; my tongue should be cut out if I attempted to describe what I'm feeling because it requires a far far greater command of words and the language than I could muster in doing so.

What genius, imagination, and talent this man possessed, not to even mention the other musicians - they're awesome. The sweet, quiet complement of the drums...and that bass - opening and holding the door open for OP to come and go as he pleases. That whole set-up is just plain nasty.

  • @ADFONT I thought you were speechless :3

  • Why the heck is Dove For Men Body Wash a related video?

  • I could tell it was NHOP on bass just by his right hand technique haha. What a masterpiece. R.I.P. OP and NHOP

  • Oscar, a true Canadian Legend.........

  • truly the best of the best!!!!

  • Para mim, o piano era um antes dele e passou a ser outro depois dele.

  • ...zostały tylko pamięć i nagrania wspaniałe,niepowtarzalne

  • What year was this recorded? Was this after his stroke?

  • @SteinwayMan13 I think it's the Munich piano festival of 1994 (check out "There Will Never be another You" also on youtube)

  • too awesome

  • perhaps the nicest thing i have ever heard oscar do --- magnificent bass line --- intonationally perfect --- wow wow wow --- where is the next Oscar gonna come from .

  • @mikey123422 It's the late great Dane Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson on bass. His tone is like liquid chocolate.

  • @TheJacoArmy His intonation is bafflingly perfect. It's freaking incredibly.

  • Take a look at the faces of these musicians. How much they enjoy doing what they do! Everyone should be playing jazz.

  • MAGNIFICIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oscar Peterson:Take the "A" Train /Duke Elling...

  • oh my god. just incredible. Oscar Peterson lived just up the street from me.. in mississauga, wish i knew him and appreciated his music while he was still alive

  • God must have loved Oscar Peterson,

    such a remarkable talent.

To only a few is such genius given.

It is our storehouse of a true pillar of jazz.

  • Fraseado perfeito, suave, quase instintivo!

  • it`s like, any girl that gets touched by him would probably die.

  • @ItachisOnly1

I think Mrs. Peterson wouldn't allow such to happen, would she ?

  • You can hear him sing along during the faster passages!

  • The exquisiteness that emits from such finger movement can only be described as being derived from the highest potential..one that only raw talent can produce.

  • such elegance...

  • Ah yes so Fantastic :)

  • Oacar Peterson was simply amazing!

  • Que espetáculo! muito bom!

  • Is that Dave Holland on bass?

  • @diegoxx4 No it´s NHØP on bass

  • great tune \\m//

  • OMG Incredible!!! Genius!!!

  • i love the fact that you can hear him scat the solo

  • .. awesome.. i love this playing

  • The four people that gave this thumbs down need help.

  • @coosoorlog Couldn't agree more. This is quite beautiful music and a complete spectrum of Oscar Peterson. In some places very few notes, in others many - as he likes to do. But so truly beautiful that I used it during my wedding ceremony a few months ago to keep guests entertained while we signed the Register.

  • what a great interpetion i loved it!

  • Were can I download the complete video?? Whats the video's name?

  • @XicoFlavio

Também acho o mesmo, amigo!!! Muito bom!

  • Love the way they get both in the video!

  • there is no one who sings with the piano like oscar!he is the real keymasta!

  • 2:33 - 3:25 is incredible! I could listen to this all day...

  • I love the fact that he has to wipe his forehead every now and then. It means he is too busy playing and perfecting his music performances that he has no time left to watch his diet.

    How's that for devotion ;)

  • @Saxement

hOW ABOUT YOU ARE BEING A REAL JERK?

  • @Saxement

If this is a joke, my dog nows better ones about you, sir.

  • God, this is so awesome. I like how he includes quotes from other Ellington tunes...0:54 sounds like "Reflections in D", and 2:05 sounds like "Things Ain't What They Used To Be".

  • This is wonderful. I love this tune at this tempo.

  • It's sooo hard to play this tune, or any tune that's not a ballad for that matter, at this tempo! Not only does he make it swing so hard and allow his solo to develop so creatively, but it sounds so...full. There is almost a swirlyness of sound in the background that he creates to prevent the piece drying up and sounding empty - no idea how he does that. Yet another thing he does that makes me want to kill myself.

  • @BlueinGreen2 well its definitely got something to do with neil's amazing skils, that fo sho

  • Love it how they transition from playing full time to playing double time with a 2 feel! So flawless!

  • What an interpretation, cool wow! ,man it just does not come any cooler how lucky we are to e able to re-visit such great talents, Hey Jordie824, thanks for giving the credit where it was due, nice to know that people care enough about our beautiful

  • The Maharaja of the Keyboard

  • @MrKeyboardman1 Agree with you. So easy for him. As for us. HA! Yep! o/

  • He always made it look so easy - I've tried and it's not.

Those runs, block chords, the relaxing and swinging style will never be seen live again. I had the pleasure of meeting him after a show at the old Winter Gardens in Bournemouth many years ago - we shook hands and exchanged a few words.......WILL NEVER FORGET IT!!

  • It's fabulous, but the video isn't the same as the recording!! Wonder why?! Watch from 3'08 and you;ll see what I mean. Hmph.

  • Who cares from whom it is. Its wonderfull.

  • fantastic....simply amazing

  • things don't get any cooler than jazz....

  • take the a train is written by Billy Strayhorn

  • wasn't it a collaboration between strayhorn and ellington ?

  • @ilikemusicverymuch Written by Streyhorn, Arranged For Ellington. A Train was used as a theme for Ellington for several years and just may be his must well known track.

  • I Know. I`m danish....But thanks

  • Oscar was a phenomenon, years ago he had a programme series on BBC, he appeared to be such a nice guy, and extremely knowledgeable. the piano is an extension to his body, he could make it talk.

    Brilliant.

  • Exquisite. Sublime.

But ,Take The A Train is not a Duke Ellington composition. It is 100% Billy Strayhorn.

  • @Jordii824

    WORD~

  • @Jordii824 Correct. Strayhorn wrote it from the directions Duke gave him to get to Sugar Hill in Harlem.

  • @Jordii824 Correct. Strayhorn wrote it from the directions Duke gave him to get to Sugar Hill in Harlem.

  • @Jordii824 100%? not 99? lol

  • @Jordii824 haha very true!

but Duke made the song happen!

  • @Jordii824 hahaha very true!! Billy Strayhorn is an amazing composer. But, this song came possible, at its best, through Duke Ellington! haha

  • Oscar is marvellous, as always!

  • Wow, I've just been learning about jazz in one of my courses, we just heard this song (several different versions) and I was just blown away by this rendition!

  • are you in Julia Andrews class?

  • Why yes I am. Small world, innit? I'm assuming you have her class as well.

  • he's got it under the wraps so well that he can take the time from his playing to wipe sweat and still play to perfection. Wow. That's OP the Maharaja for you!

  • mischinu com'è sudatu....

  • i just love the way that Mr Peterson plays ellington.. speachless

  • I miss Oscar...his music yet lives on....
