@SomeGuyDrumming They're called Uilleann Pipes. A type of bagpipe from Ireland, "Uilleann" meaning elbow, i.e. that the bag is inflated by means of a bellows under the elbow instead of with the mouth. A lovely instrument, but very difficult to play.
if yr talking about me then you must have got it wrong coz i can ensure i can play music seeing as i am the british champion on the concertina so i think you should concider yr word a bit better
Paddy Glackin - walked into his class at Gaelic Roots festival in Boston.. There were 30people in the room.. He said 'Ive got 17people on my list and Im not teaching until everyone whos not on the list leaves!' this despite the fact that some of us came from across the continent to the festival.
instead of being honored that so many people would want to learn from him - he offends them..
Cheapskate! He came from across the Atlantic to teach a limited number of paying students. The ones that should be honoured are the ones on his list that got lessons from him.
What's your point ? The problem is not to be 'honored' or not, but to supply a high quality teaching. It is quite impossible with 30 students. He was perfectly right to say that he would not accept people off list. It's a question of respect for the students that have paid their booking in time. Period.
If the workshop organizers have sold more tickets, it's a problem to fix with them. Paddy is certainly not accountable for any overbooking policy ...
A lot of recordings by master players (you know, those big names like Willie Clancy and Seamus Tansey) are poor in quality, as they were made during those times, where archiving methods weren't very good, etc.. Many of these players are now dead, so budding Irish musicians make do with them to learn the music, no matter how poor the recording quality is. I've listened to recordings of worse quality, but I still find all (and this as well) very, very good in terms of their playing skill.
It'd be nice to see a cleaned up version of this some day, as such a close video can be very instructional for pipe learners in particular, where a player has technique as elaborate as this. It needs a much better ear to extract detail from the audio alone.

If I stole your fiddle would you be honored that I liked your fiddle so much? If you wanted it back should you be worried about offending me?

audio is off by so much that it's unwatchable. Try using virtualdub to fix it.
