This video is not scary and this place is not scary. We had a ghost that lived on our floor freshman year, she was friendly. If you yelled at her she'd throw shit of the vanity at you, though. But the Ridges aren't scary at all; in fact, it's a nice run up there in the morning!
Remember that one 'Twilight Zone' episode where the guard goes back to the internment camp and the inmates make him endure the pain he caused? This is like that, except with lo-fi jittery shots of scenery and a building, and an occasional six second montage which flash still images of people and x-rays and other spooky things, and with no writing, and it isn't scary.
The only really weird feeling I got is when I would finish studying at the main library at night. I would leave the library at 11:45pm when it closed and I would ride my moped up the hill via the back entrance to the AMHC campus....it was 12 midnight then when I arrived - that got to be kind of freaky to me and I would look over my shoulder several times after parking my bike before I entered the building.
Only a few people can actually say the lived as a volunteer student teacher there.
But as I walked around the campus, I never noticed anything strange or paranormal...just mentally retarded people in need of friendship and guidance. Yes some of them looked creepy and acted unusual but that is what happens when you live in an institution all your life. We had a wonderful program to provide entertainment and friendship to these people - yes everyone knew about the body in the upper room - that always make a creepy story. But in the spring and summer it was a beautiful place.
I was walking through the men's locked ward when the phone range...some girl was asking for Billy. I saw a man with a beard nearby and asked if he was Billy Milligan and he said yes and he took the call...I left through the locked door. I was also able to walk under the buildings through some creepy old areas - not quite tunnels - but areas that used to be for chaining patients to the brick walls. Some of my friends and I even walked around the unmarked graves - more
In the late 70s and early 80s, there was a vibrant volunteer program organized by a man named Larry Lankas. He was the volunteer coordinator for the Athens Mental Health Center (AMHC). In 1982, I was a music major at O.U.. I was also a ""resident volunteer at AMHC. I actually was given room and board there in a room near some geriatric patients in exchange for 20 hours a week work. I did group music therapy with the patients. I was given free access to the entire building - more...

I have a friend that goes to Ohio University and we went into the TB Ward, and wow...it is really ominous in there on a cloudy moonlit night. Not too mention when you go into the TB Ward with only one dying flashlight!!!! The graveyard just below the TB Ward is very creepy at night too!
i go to ohio university and the ridges is vacant and students go in all the time.... its illegal but they go in. ive been there and its creeepy trust me.
My gf and I just went to the TB Ward at the Ridges and got some pretty good pictures. Just go to my profile and find it in my videos here if you want to see the slideshow. I only have a few videos so its not hard to find.
Ya. My Aunt used to go their and then transfered. She stay in Bush Hall, then got an apartment. Bush hall scared the crap out of me, but i was only like 11. But just last year were drove up by the TB Ward. FREEKY!
i never have seen nething weird while up their taking pics fooling around when i was in highschool now in college just having fun. but when we develop them u can see some weird shit
It's certainly not vacant, but you can still get in. People have tore down portions of the chain link fence that surrounds The Ridges. It's normal to see groups of four or five break in (more like walk in), actually. I went there last weekend. I didn't have a ghostly encounter, but it was a real psychological thrill.
