Year .. music like Procol Harum - A whiter shade of pale. And in modern time, the Talk Talk song - LIFE'S WHAT YOU MAKE IT - 1986 use of both piano and organ 70. (Hammond style) One of my own favorite, if that´s ok !
Jimmy McGriff..."I gotta woman," on Sue label, about 1964. No one sounds exactly like Brother Jack. Saw him live at Pythodd Jazz Festival in Rochester, New York...late 90's. Hard to beat his mastery of the B3!
Gatemouth Brown ? Who was the organ player with Gatemouth? ( Who's Gatemouth Brown? mmmh, you won, son) Jon Lord & Keith emerson, are you really serious?
Folks, I greatly appreciate the comments. This video montage is only a taste. If you'd like more info about who's in the project, please email me at matt@hammondheroes.com.
One player that should have been featured on this documentary is the legendary Mike Finnigan, of CS&N, Etta James, Taj Mahal, and countless other recordings, plus an incredible artist in his own right. His prowress on the Hammond B-3 is known by just about every blues artist and producer in the business. Otherwise, this is a great clip.
holy hannah! About time someone honoured this instrument and these players..ain't nothing like the real thing baby and a B-3 with a Leslie is a piece of heaven right here on earth..
can't get tired of it .......

Have to agree, very nice, but yes, where's Keith Emerson or Barbara Dennerlein?
Jack McDuff is playing the soundtrack - forgotton the title
minben1959 5 years ago
McDuff did do a version of the song, but this is McGriff's version.
Also, this is just a teaser of a trailer. Emerson and Dennerlein will be in it. If you'd like to know who is involved, please email
Thank you.
