  • My bike shifts nicely to a larger gear, but when I want to go faster, it doesn't shift to a smaller gear. I have to shift two up, and then back one down to get the gear I want. As you can imagine, this is not ideal. Any suggestions as to why it is doing this?

  • Thank you, was going to pay someone to fix it.

  • Thank you so much!

  • thanks :D

  • MY BIKE IS SHIFTING GOOD A PART FROM WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHEST GEAR GEAR 1 AND BACK PEDEL I DROP A FEW GEARS TO GEAR 4 OR 5 WHY IS THIS...... NAY HELP WOULD BE NICE

  • @dbw16d Don't back pedal when you shift

  • @WarPigRS i was not back pedaling while shifting i was back pedaling when i was in the gear for a while...

dose not matter i fixed the gears...

  • My gears are drooping what should I do?

  • I love you!! Thank you for this video!!

  • thnx really helped me out to fix my gears

  • The transcript is obscuring the pictures!

  • okay

    mine shifts sometimes by itself

but the gearing is usualy like this

    1st handlebars - 1st cog

    2nd - 3rd cog

    3rd - 4th then changes to 5th cog

    4th - if on 4th changes to 5th

    5th - no need

please help do i tighten or loosen the cable

  • @nath0987 It sounds like you could have a worn out Cassette or Chain. If they are fine, first you need to find out if your derailer is a "high normal" (cable pulls derailer towards lower ratio (larger) gears) or "low normal" (cable pulls it towards the higher ratio (smaller) gears). If yours is "high normal", increase the tension, if your is "low normal", then you need to loosen the cable. Try tightening the cable first by using the little adjusters on the handlebars.

  • @j4ck50n93 thanks but this bike is now history. i craned it into a ditch and the frame bent and sheared :(

  • @nath0987 Owch, either way, it helps to know :)

  • @j4ck50n93 yes definately and yes it did hurt quite a bit!!!

  • ok

my bike shifts twice and sometimes on its own without me shifting it

what should i do tighten or loosen the cable

    please help

  • single speed is for park fags

  • No. Single speed are for people who want a clean looking bike. And for cruising around town.

  • lets see you go uphill than downhill on single gear bike ^^

  • It's called Coaster Hub and brakes. ^^

  • that will help you downhill,

but uphill your legs will hurt so much and you will loose lot of stamina on single gear bike

thats why professional cyclists use gears - if single gear bike was better they would use it

  • Agreed that professional cyclists use gears. Once more, single gear bikes are mostly for cruising and towning around. Not racing or going up and down hills.

  • i need major help i have tried all of this and it just dont shift right and wont go into 4th or 5th gear

  • oh thanks for that I needed to know trhis, I thought I was having to replace my bike.

  • Excellent...thank you!!

  • very helpful. thanks a ton

  • my gear thing fell of on the way to school i managed to get it back on but nothing is holding it on and it only works on one gear.

  • Me Too....
