  • can someone tell me what this song is about?

  • @legomyeggo123

Dreaming about being Lou Reed. That's the "you" in the song "with dark glasses and attitude". The "brownstone up three flights of stairs" line is directly lifted from Reed's "Waiting For The Man"

  • favorite death cab song. some of the stuff they play now, it takes some getting used to, but it just sounds like they their walking through the motions. they play this one like it matters to them. like its genuine music

  • @theaudiolettersmusic fucking exactly

I saw an interview of Ben that pissed me off. It was during the recording of narrow stairs. He was like "I used to wait for inspiration to write a song, but now im making it my job to just get up every day and write music"

hmmm narow stairs blows amirite? Bands need to stop turning writing music from a passion to an hourly wage.

    I went on a rant.

    I am drunk.

    Excuse me.

  • @EuReKaDeAdScOpE Actually, Narrow Stairs is my favorite (actually it's tied with Plans, but still). I think these are amazing too (it IS Death Cab), but I prefer listening to the others since those were the first ones I listened to

  • @EuReKaDeAdScOpE well, the only reason he said that is because he's so serious about improving. the more you write, the better you get, right? he's made it a day job so that he can become a better musician. that process was how songs like i will follow you into the dark were written

  • @hiphopsucks96 the thing you dont understand is that songs like I will follow you into the dark fucking blow when compared to anything off of this album and photo album. Like dont get me wrong, thats a pretty catchy song. but thats about it... Their new music is sterile as fuck. Making music a day job doesn't make the final product better. It just makes it more digestible for Radio goons who wouldnt know a heartfelt song if it punched them in the dick.

  • @EuReKaDeAdScOpE trust me, I'm a huge fan, and I understand its "mainstream" appeal. but plans was a very strong album...just as strong if not stronger lyrically than facts. the photo album is my favorite death cab album, besides this at least. sure, the music seems sterile, but in reality I'm gonna stand by ben cuz he's experimenting alot...was I disapointed about their last album? course! but he's trying to improve as a writer, and I respect him for that. and if you're a fan, you should too.

  • @hiphopsucks96 "well, the only reason he said that is because he's so serious about improving."

I think it's more likely he said that because he's running out of inspiration, and has to train himself to compensate. I agree that Plans is a near perfectly executed album, but when you have inspiration, you don't need to execute your ideas anywhere near perfectly to get your point across. Hopefully his breakup with Zooey will give him some real emotions to write about...

  • This is my favorite deaty cab song at the moment. Soo powerful. This and scientist studies are suchhhh a great last two songs to the album.
