old git like me been there loads of times that stand was a death trap thank god for new stadiums. what modern health and safety people would have said about it if they could go back. but i suppose there was grounds like ours everywhere in them days
We were meant to be celebrating that is what is so hard to acept we had already got through we didn't even have to play the game. I am 18 and have lived in Bradford my entire life my mum worked at valley parade as a young girl. Every kid here knows what happened that day to ensure that it is never forgotton. Bradford has a bad reputation but the way we dealt with the fire and the way we conduct our selves at each aniversary shows what we are really like. We will never forget you. R.I.P
For fucking fuck's sake - is there an single video on Bradford football that doesn't reference the fucking fire? It's a bit annoying if that's all Bradford's known for. By the way, my swearing wasn't directed at anyone in particular - I was just annoyed.
People debate whether Yorkshire TV should allow the footage from that day to be released, IMO they're right not to release it, there's no need. People won't forget nor should they programmes like this will make sure of it.
I'm a Barnsley fan and there's always rivalry between the two clubs when we play, but because of the way the people of Bradford handled themselves with great dignity after the fire i've a great deal of respect for them too.
@jwood36 I have got the complete match, plus both BBC news and ITN reports from that day on Betamax (I was born 5 years after the fire but discovered these recordings while transferring the tapes to DVD for my dad). Unfortunately, our top-loading Betamax player is on its way out now (it is 31 years old now) and it seems to decide on its own when it wants to play them. I will try and upload them when it works. It seems like a dry joint on a circuit board so it's an easy fix with a soldering iron.
@jwood36 Aaaaaanyway, even though I personally don't like football very much, RIP all 56 people who died that day. I've only been a student in Bradford for 9 months now and already feel like part of the local community. Sad day. And die in hell those heartless dicks on the Yorkshire TV coverage who were smiling and cheering into the cameras around the edge of the pitch.
Very, very, very sad. From a Liverpool Fan. R.I.P. The 56.

@saintdracula so you think 56 poor innocent people being agonisingly burnt to death is a little thing that can be avoided by a video keyword??
