No kenpo or taedwondo here, Sparring like this means nothing in your pursuit of who is best in your mind..Wait till you have been there for 45 years, then you can spew from it or try to prove anything.
You can't really say that there was no Taekwondo there; he was a yellow belt. I can't really speak for Kenpo because I've never studied it. You really shouldn't frown upon sparring though; there's nothing wrong with it and I think that it its a good thing. I know that no one who has ever studied a martial art for 45 years didn't spar until they were 45 years in.
@Ozarka741 I don't frown upon it, I my many years I still look for the tradition, tech and style, all three can be portrayed in any sparring, I just didn't see it here, a few kicks and one two combinations..Where is all the tech taught on top of punches and kicks. I judged for many years and it got to where people gave points or a score for something that would never work. In other words it got real political if you know what I mean. Everyone that would limit one art to prove another.
Hi im a black belt at tae-kwon-do and I have expanded to also do Aikido - I have made a chanel for martial arts like aikido and Tae-kwon-do (i only have 1 video at the moment but more are coming) - check it out.....
@Ozarka741 yeah i know that but the fact that there are so many black belts out there shows that there's something wrong with this system because many black belts get their butt kicked by their juniors. its the reason why i said that belts really mean nothing if you cant stand up to your ranking. you know what i mean?
I agree, there are too many McDojos out there. If you're from a good school, though, your belt should show how good you are. Otherwise, it could be misleading.
fijate en las cintas!! el de kenpo es cinta roja y tkd cinta amarrilla si pones un cinta verde con uno de kenpo roja le hace frente no como la cinta marilla
That Kenpo guy is no good. Kenpo is not a sport like Taekwon do is. You'll have to visit the two schools to understand what I mean. You have to "dumb up" Kenpo in order to make it into tournament style fighting.
WoW really? Full yellow belt? Thats the third belt of tae kwon do (white, then white/yellow, then yellow, and then a shitload of belts until black belt
And i dont know how advanced red belt is in kenpo so it might be a fair fight, dont really know much about kenpo
This is clearly an open rank/style tournament... if yellow wanted to fight someone he's own level he shouldn't have entered, still a good match. always fun to watch real people doing martial arts. keep at it guys! :)
The fact that a red belt is getting his head kicked by a taekwondo yellow belt does not speak well for this particular place of kenpo karate instruction.
@llGaarall1 no sabe nada de nada, porque apenas va empesando, es amarilla, es segundo grado, bueno tercero : blanco, blanco avanzado, y despues amarilla
At my TaeKwonDo Club, belts mean nothing. While practicing, the kids fight adults, and the girls fight the guys. Belts for most clubs need no tournament experience at all, mainly just techniques and Taegueks,
That is because this is a point-stop competition. Every time a referee notices a point, the match is paused, until the points are recognised. Then the match continues.
@Turok676 MMA is a whole different game. Point Stop sparring is good for beginners, but in the end it becomes more and more like a 'tag' game, and it loses the martial value.
In Taekwon-do after Point Stop sparring, we maintain a Continue Sparring system. With points, but the game is only paused after a warning or when a player steps outside the ring. The martial value is much bigger then.
@Silencer116 yeah but it still takes away from the whole point of martial arts. i mean what would you prefer, fighting and pushing through a whole match without pads and going to your max? or just getting tagged each time and losing just because some guy sticks his leg out everytime you go in for a strike? i mean thats why i really dislike because it takes away from the whole purpose. martial arts is for fighting, not a game of tag. yeah its great to help with technique but still
@Turok676 well I guess thats why there are many different martial arts. Each has its own values. I agree, MMA is the closest to real battle. I like Taekwon-do because there are a lot of other things involved, like etiquette, tradition and I like the style is based on kicking techniques. I like the game. In the end, its just a matter of taste and personality. I think a martial art should match your personality. Did you know there are two styles of taekwon-do?
@Silencer116 yes, one is more combat oriented and the other is more for sports right? i mean like when i did this i had to do katas, forms and stuff like that to test but in the end it just didnt really matter to me, i just dont like the point sparring because there's too many loop holes to get easy wins, and ppl win cheaply
@Turok676 I agree. But I also think that the patterns, step-sparring, self defence and breaking is all part of your sparring system too. I agree that point stop sparring has many loopholes, especially in Allstyle tournaments. I've participated in some of these tournaments and it really looks like a tag game. No martial value at all. But I can say that in Taekwon-do the judges are more strict in giving points for correct techniques, instead of just tagging with no defence or whatsoever after that
@Silencer116 I see. And TKD is mainly kicking right? so if you have proper technique, its gonna be full contact if your being judged on technique as well. I give massive respect for that and to you, but like I said, I'm a mixed martial artist and what I do and the type of point sparring you described to me just now, have massive respect from me and all other forms are just too cheap
@Turok676 Haha, the respect is likewise. I understand you just like the MMA rules. Guess that fits your personality best. Anyways Taekwon-do is indeed a lot of kicking, but there is also punching involved. I guess thats why there are so many different martial arts, everyone has his own ideas about it. I wish you good luck on your training and stay cool.
@RichardArendsen point sparring..... pretty much because of laws i think. and so their wont be any blood/guts or hard feelings. lol i think its pretty much bull....
WTF is not better. Im a red belt ITF and during open tournament wtf fighters come in they hardley ever win. always leaving there hands down like idiots. thinking its just kicking.
@ChrisWindyBoy there is no martial art superior to another...there is only a superior fighter. whoever wants to win the match the most will be better prepared than the other.
@ChrisWindyBoy unfortunately these days you'll be awarded the belt even if you're not competent, i remember when i started Judo (i had done BJJ before that) and i was throwing around even the "good" black belts!!!!!!!!! if you do it long enough and you know the "theory" then you're promoted! im not sure if its goodwill or simply business
What the fuck is this ? the yellow belt sucks ( Im yellow belt, but damn, don't do kicks that you don't control .. ), his guard sucks ... and the red belt sucks too. He does useless kicks. He should have done some " twit tchagui " when the red belt was running toward him .. just to calm down the red belt. Change your moves ... the rhythm of your guard. Simple kicks are the best to use ...
i agree with masamune im a green belt in tkd and was in the icelantic championship for my weight i got 2nd place against my best friend in finals lolz
1 tip fight with the techniques you learn...don't turn it into kickboxing like in the video...it looks lame. Every Kenpo school it seems treat sparring like a game and all the techniques we learn become non-existent I hope to change this one day when i open my own school. American Kenpo can be used very effectively even in these dumb "fights" you just have to know how.
the problem in the first fight is just, there's no real attack intent when they perform their techniques. he's (yea especially the tkd fighter) just "throwing" his techniques.
Shit i got a yellow belt in tkd and i would do way better than that, then again i learned Combative TKD with jkd concepts and i am skilled in other arts..point being his fighting isn't practice its sport
If you notice the TKD fighter is only effective until the kenpo practitioner closes the distances, then it would be game over, sparring is just martial arts tag and has no real value on the street, pretty, but useless
Its because this was an allstyle tournament. There were no low-belt and high-belt classes, only weight divisions. So sometimes there were white belts fighting black belts too.
i hate that scoring system they are using, taekwondo takes the points because of the range, which is all good but if i was the other guy i would close in quick to take away that advantage, but he cant because all the other guy has to do is tap him and he gets a point. they shouldn't hold back, that way we can see what both fighters are worth
Actually @ ITF Taekwon-do they don't use point-stop systems. From Blue to Black belt they spar for points, but don't pause the match when a point is taken.
@Silencer116 That's a holy truth, I'm recently a black-belt tkd fighter. And I can say you that combats are really really different of what I did in yellow or green belt. Now are more brutal than ever. And I LOVE IT!!!! xD
I agree. One of the strengths of Kenpo is its use of rapid, sequential combination strikes, while a primary strength of Tae Kwon Do is its emphasis on distance striking. The format of this contest only permitted the Kenpo artist to throw one or two strikes before being distanced from his opponent, so he couldn't take full advantage of his art.
The "odd noises" have a very important purpose. It's so that when you strike, you're attacks become stronger, if you throw a strike and they throw a kick or some attack towards your stomach for example, when you Keeyai (Not sure how to spell it) it tenses up your stomach, you can do this or breathe out when you attack. Ever see Never Back Down? Same concept.
haha nah dude, no need to school me. .... haha i am well aware that most people online are ignorant. but hahah i was talking about the noises the CAMERAMAN was making. haaaaaahaha.

If you notice the TKD fighter is only effective until the kenpo practitioner closes the distances, then it would be game over, sparring is just martial arts tag and has no real value on the street, pretty, but useless

yellow belt guy is BS..i had a Korean World Champion Teacher..rest in peace, and the yellow belt guys could totally take the crap out of thoose guys.

cool vid, but why is a red belt fighting a beginner yellow belt?
masamune702 2 years ago
Hi,
Its because this was an allstyle tournament. There were no low-belt and high-belt classes, only weight divisions. So sometimes there were white belts fighting black belts too.
Silencer116 2 years ago
making them fight according to weight classes is silly, clearly one has more experience in his art than the other.
tkddiuryl 2 years ago
Yeah, but then that can create some serious imbalances like a 120KGer going up against a 70KGer.

@Silencer116 and because kenpo is so supperior to tkd that a yellow belt can take a redbelt

@Silencer116 its like a kindergärtner(white belt) fighting a college guy (black belt)

i hate that scoring system they are using, taekwondo takes the points because of the range, which is all good but if i was the other guy i would close in quick to take away that advantage, but he cant because all the other guy has to do is tap him and he gets a point. they shouldn't hold back, that way we can see what both fighters are worth

Actually @ ITF Taekwon-do they don't use point-stop systems. From Blue to Black belt they spar for points, but don't pause the match when a point is taken.
Silencer116 2 years ago
it just seemed that way, forgive me for any offence
ShinobiKunai 2 years ago
Your comment was right. At this video we are competiting at a Karate tournament. The rules were all-style based.
Silencer116 2 years ago
@Silencer116 That's a holy truth, I'm recently a black-belt tkd fighter. And I can say you that combats are really really different of what I did in yellow or green belt. Now are more brutal than ever. And I LOVE IT!!!! xD

I agree. One of the strengths of Kenpo is its use of rapid, sequential combination strikes, while a primary strength of Tae Kwon Do is its emphasis on distance striking. The format of this contest only permitted the Kenpo artist to throw one or two strikes before being distanced from his opponent, so he couldn't take full advantage of his art.

that a good tech that works 50% of the time because u may run into a kick or a punch while trying to close the distance with ur fist

wait why do you make odd noises?
auzio 2 years ago
The "odd noises" have a very important purpose. It's so that when you strike, you're attacks become stronger, if you throw a strike and they throw a kick or some attack towards your stomach for example, when you Keeyai (Not sure how to spell it) it tenses up your stomach, you can do this or breathe out when you attack. Ever see Never Back Down? Same concept.
