I like this movie very much. David Cain is very beautiful and the love scenes between him and Laura Gemser are very poetic. It's a pity that the version that I watched wasn't the hardcore version.

well the UK release on electric video was absolutely butchered and didnt have the hardcore porn inserts. This is easily available in Sweden and Finland.

The full 125 minute version (which draaaaaaaaags) is also availible in Germany... I find the softcore 109 minute version the "best one," but that's not saying much. It makes the bastardized 1979 film look pitch perfect in comparison!

I mean, most of the stereo-types about the bastardized Tinto Brass film (long story, which you can read on wikipedia) are actually stemming from this film. In actuality, the REAL "Caligula" film is gorgeously photographed, has breath taking art design and amazing perfomances. The only tragedy is that Penthouse re-edited the entire film into a jumbled mess.
