Breaking Benjamin, Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Turbonegro, Guns 'n Roses, Rise Against, Evanescence, Disturbed, etc.
ALL good examples of rock and metal bands that kick arse and are still writing and playing today! Stop this bullshit about rock music being dead, it isn't; the people's brains are.
love it when bands accually play at the same tempo as the record, nobody wants to hear you blast through all the songs at ripneck speed, although i've seen other versions of this song where they do it, not cool.
Quick note to WayneM70, Billy is the greatest song writer of our time. Kurt wrote out of pain, but Billy writes out of pain, love, joy, and so many other things that are nameless. I've loved Nirvana for years, but they're no Pumpkins, make no mistake, Billy is one of the greatest poets of our time, and he has the chops and guitar skills to back it.
Oh yeah, back in the day when MTV actually supported and made money from MUSIC. Whoever was big at the time, would always have an MTV live, or MTV UNPLUGGED devoted to them. Back in the days of the greatest music known to man!
I've been looking for a Cherub Rock video that's really similar to this one for hours and I can't find it.
It was the best one I had ever seen. Billy still has his hair and I believe he was playing his silver strat that says something like, "honk if you hate people too". Absolute classic Pumpkins...it's a shame I can't find it anymore.
dude this is my fave band and I love all the songs, I just wish he would try to sound more like the studio recordings live, I think I know the words better than him sometimes. Best band ever just don't like the missing words and the random screaming
@charliegray12212 and not to many ppl want or will admit that....but its kinda of inevitable....all the bands you named are prolly the best to make music....AIC NIRVANA......and Soundgarden....best songwriters ever.....and the music is mind blowing
Nice. This SP just after Siamese Dream was released.
There are still good bands out there making good albums. They just don't get the platform bands of this nature had in the early 90's. I was 21 when Siamese Dream came out. It was a fantastic time in music.
i agree this band was so full of life back in the 90's i mean that had some thing no other band had and they still did until chamberlin left and now its just billy which dont get me wrong is an amazing song writer and musician but its just not the same with our iha chamberline or darcy. still great band though
Enjoy it on You Tube because you will never see this song played this way with this lineup live. This reminds me of when I was young and John Bonham of Led Zep died. I lost interest in them knowing I would never see them play live. Good to know some of my favs from the 70's still play live and loud!
Music became terminally Ill in 2001-2002 ish then Lady Gaga and all those pieces of shit that produce so called music then decided to quicken the process and stab music multiple times RIP music (Beginning of time-2001) we got where we are today, no truly epic rock, to many radio stations playing this hip hop, pop and rap shit that u cant call music wheres the dam emotion? there all in it for money and what better example if the biggest killer of music............. Lady Gaga
I think there's worse culprits than Lady Gaga. Her music may not be great but at least she writes her own music and lyrics because I think she originally started off writing songs for other artists until she was spotted singing a melody to one of the singers she'd written a song for.
Katy Perry's worse, Kings of Leon sold out to the PR devil something awful and the Killers think theie music will be remembered more than Nirvanas or Led Zeppelins. These are the people who have cheapened music.
I think it became ill in 2001 2002, but I think it pretty much died after 2006. Tool's 10,000 Days and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Archadium were the last 2 CDs that I know of that were actually GOOD from beginning to end.
yeah i would agree with you... i love the smashing pumpkins and i also love muse and my chemical romance... though they sound way too modern i feel there is still hope for music to be reborn.. i mean if you listen MCR and MUSE create their OWN music WRITE their own music and basically PRODUCE their own music. when they play live they play every little bit in their songs... they dont play the over dubbed crap like jonas bros... like muse he drops the guitar to play the piano parts and jumps in.
@jackosmithy What a fucking crap. Music didn't die, there's a lot of good musicians and a lot of bad, totally like in 90's, 80's and other. And Lady Gaga is good, sorry, If you think that SP is good.
first time i've seen billy with hair that actually looks cool, love this band:)
there the only band that has never let me down with a single album, there all awsome imo, sure all the songs on mellon collie and siamese dream are amazing but the other albums have there gems too:)
lol Zeitgeist kinda sucked though... I love the Pumpkins, but I think their first four albums are the only truly good ones. Gish, SIamese Dream, Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and Pisces Iscariot. If you listen to those you can feel a certain vibe that remains consistent, as though Billy was going through a point in his life... Then comes Adore and Machina.... adore was okay but everything afterward just sucked honestly. Just my opinion, don't hate, perhaps constructive comments?
I agree, Zeitgeist is the weakest album but I still think it's awesome, if you've not heard Bleeding the Orchid, give it a listen. I think it's one of the strongest songs on the album. SD is by far my favourite album then MCIS, Gish then PI. Have you heard Machina II? It's great. Machinas a good album but if he'd mixed the best songs from M1+2, he'd have had a legendary album in my opinion. Listen to Dross, Let Me Give The World To You and Here's To The Atom Bomb on Machina II, awesome songs.
if the audio was 'there', this would be their best take of this song on YT..the perfect swinging groove version...like the studio take. (see the rehearsal clip to understand how Bill was trying to get Jimmy on target)
i think every band is different in their own way and that when you compare a band to another one your are hurting rock music...music shouldnt be compared..TSP is a great band in their own way. the same way Nirvana, AIC, and all the other ones that came up before them.
why does everyone compare nirvana and smashing pumpkins they are both my favorite bands i can recite any thing billy corgan or kurt cobain have ever written and i still cant decided whos better who the f cares..there both greet.
in some youtube video of a old MTV little news clip of kurt loader saing "people have said" they compered them to Janes Addiction, funny how they hit HUGE BIG after Janes Addiction Broke up..... the were a void filler band. not to say they wearnt around in the late 80?
Before Nirvana came out of nowhere, the bands that were poised to hit were "the next Janes Addiction." Janes was the big dog in the "underground" music scene. Gish came out before Nevermind. ('91 was a Great year for music, Badmotorfinger, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Ten, Trompe le Monde, and Blue Lines came out, too--sh!t like that will change your life, kid) Pumpkins were getting all the talk, then the video came out for "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The rest, they say, is history.
It's a matter of bad timing. 'Nevermind' changed everything. Once the alt rock movement hit the mainstream, the media latched on and call everyone 'grunge'. But the Pumpkins never fit into that category, thats what made/makes them so great.I believe 'Siamese Dream' would have been just as big as 'Nevermind' if it came out before it.
I hate the fact I was born 1990, I missed all this great music. I hate music the now, there are good bands but all you hear is Sex On Fire, Human, Arctic Monkeys. It does my head in. I'm glad SP are back, allthough alot of people are jipping them saying Zeitgesit is shit, it ain't the best but I think it kicks ass, it's full of awesome riffs and belting drums. I wish I was old enough in the 90's to appreciate the Alternative bands and not Indie music which is 75% of music nowadays.
new music is not shit is just a different time...you can expect music to stay static over the years...everything changes...i bet people that were born in the 80's said the same thing about the music that came out in their time...
I particulary like late 80's and 90's rocknroll but that doesnt mean that music today sucks...
Coming from someone who plays drums, i find grohls beats pretty boring and unoriginal to be quite honest. Chamberlins fills and beats are unique to every song whereas i see alot of the same patterns happening in nirvana and foo fighters songs
that comment dosnt really make sense. besides the pumpkins were their own band. and could you ever see Nirvana making an incredible album like Adore or even writing a song like 1979? i dont think so. Dont get me wrong Nirvana were an awesome band.
well they are both pretty different styles, I gotta say I love more the pumpkins but nirvana was good too, man I miss the 90's I mean : Pumpkins, Nirvana, Rage against the machine, Blind melon, Alice in chains, Tool, The pixies, Silverchair, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Hole.... Name them all, so sad I was born in 1990... Nowadays music isnt what it used to be (Soul-less) and pretty commercial... I love Explosions in the sky, I think its the only good stuff that came out since 2000 anyway.. loll
i hate todays music man, i was born in 1991 and i never realy listened to music till around 2001 as i though it sucked in all honesty but then i heard the likes of nirvana and ever since i've been a huge fan and a huge fan of, well the good stuff, Pumpkins, Placebo, Alice In Chains, Silverchair, Soundgarden, Pixies, NIN, the list goes on but if it wasn't for the likes of Nirvana and the Pumpkins i'd probably never listen to music as it all sucks now.
I still think Jimmy Chamberlain was arguably one of the best drummers in the entire business along with Dave Grohl. What a great band and killer performance.
I wonder if this is the alterate video of Cherub Rock. Cuz there was that one obscure video they made with flash cannons in the forest and destroyed film.
This is honestly the best performance of this song I've seen yet. That is why it never hurts to post new live vids. Even if there are 50 vids of the same song already. There are always going to be those performances that stand out. I think this is one of them. A real gem.
