I can't open Rainbow, and i can't open Jack, whenever i run ANY of the .exe's, consoles just come up for a second and they close right after that.

@ChocoPocoToffee Delete Norton. It's a bad AV to begin with... but any antivirus is going to detect JTR as a hack.tool or variant.

I'd look towards Kaspersky, ESET, or Avira for an antivirus... Norton is just... bleh. I'd ultimately consider making a switch towards Linux, where no AV is requires (maybe a HIPS in certain instances).

download .zip or download winRAR. .zip compressor pretty much decompresses zipped downloads zip downloads just secure them winRAR lets you download many secured files from .RAR to .ZIPS alot of things hoped this helped

cd doesn't actually stand for "drop", that's just technical slang. ../ we'd be dropping up a dir, cd C:\anydir we'd be dropping to anydir.

But yes, cd does stand for change dir.

Ugh THANK you for this tutorial. I've been ripping my hair out trying to figure this thing out. I got stuck when I kept trying different ways to exploit the showimages.PHP script. -_-' I never thought about starting it off with images/***.

I figured, since it was already pulling things out of the IMAGES directory, it should automatically change to another directory, right?

so I kept trying things like "showimages.php?file=admin/.ht­passwd" and so on.

Oh ok, and does Camtasia allow you to edit videos once they are done capturing? So that I would be able to darken the screen to focus on one point, such as you did with the address bar (and the zoom function as well).

Unless you know how to setup rainbowtables, no. You can't old-school bruteforce it, way too complicated.

Cain and Abel uses bruteforcing methods, UNLESS, you specify it RTABLES.

Rainbow Tables are MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE. Cain and Abel is a great tool, but it won't get what you want done for more advanced cracking; be realistic when doing realistic missions buddy.

JTR is perfectly fine. Sometimes AVG and other antivirus companies mislabel things so you don't use them.
