I make my tornadoes by tapping 2 water bottles together that are slightly filled with water and then spin it around upside down. It's a really great effect!

lol, its not generaly a flat spray that comes out, its swirling dust cloud and the bottom isnt ever sharp point in a tornado. its sort of cut off and a narrow transparrent one comes up to meet it from that dust cloud
