  • thanks worked the first time. did not even need to turn static ip off, but i did

  • When i did this it connects and says theres no interent

  • @orangespriteman make sure you entered the gateway IP address and the DNS servers addresses correctly.

  • Thanks mate had no wifi for 3 months with one of my Dad's routers, now it's fixed :)

  • thank you so much i have tried so many othere options nothing has worked my wifi would obtain but not connect doing this WORKED thanks again

  • Doesn't work for me. 'Obtaining IP address' changes to 'Connected', but can't do anything with it. I've tried changing to google's DNS, doesn't work either. If it disable the use static IP - 'Obtaining IP address' occures again. :< Can't even get to my SD card either from android and pc (can't turn on the USB storage). I have android installed for like 2 days and I hate it because of that

  • I have this error but I have the Galaxy Nexus which doesn't have those options.

  • @Kr4zi4ur0mg in ICS you can set a static ip address for each connection, long press on the network name then chose modify, tick show advanced options then change IP settings to static and you'll get the form

  • i had an different issue, this worked for me.. thanks mann and great presence of mind..

  • I'm no android expert, but if you insist, you can leave the links on my blog post in the comments section. But first, make sure you try the AllShare method.

  • Connected, but no internet access :(

  • @saiki143 you probably didn't enter correct DNS server IP addresses, which is why when it tries to go to a website, tried to connect to a DNS server to get website IP address, but doesnt find it, so you end up not being able to connect to websites.

In the settings window, set the DNS servers to 8.8.4.4 and/or 8.8.8.8 which are provided by google.

Hope this fixes your issue! :/

  • @AnxiousNut thanks for the reply sir,but still not working.

just a have look at following screen shot

  • @saiki143 :/

btw, other workarounds has been discussed for the same issue on my blog in the comment section. (Link is in the description box)

  • @AnxiousNut i checked in your blog too sir,but no go!

plz plz provide me some solution.

i can't post any links here, i will send you screen shot of my system's details sir, how?

  • Thankyou so much this worked when i did it now im running my internet off my wifi. i think il still be frustrated browsing through youtube trying to find a way to fix the problem but anyways thankyou heaps for your video helped alot.

  • Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately that work round didn't work for me. I noticed initially however my issue changed from "obtaining ip" blabla. To"connecting",,, "not connected". But now its reverted back to the "ip" issue. I wish to tether preferably from my gs2, but can't connect to any wifi.

  • @shlllong Hmmm, Im sorry that these didn't work for you, but this is all I know about this lame bug! ... well, I also know that a factory reset would fix it, but that's a destructive workaround (deleting all data might not be worth it)!

I've never tried tethering so I have no clue. Sorry, but there's nothing more I can help you with, pal. :/

  • @shlllong

every time you need to connect just restart your router then your mobile will connect for like a couple of hours ,i do this all time with my samsung galaxy but its a REAL pain in the ass .

i was once a preacher for android and i advised everyone around me to embrace the android and ditch everything else but now i'm the laugh of everyone because all devices have no issues connecting to wifi .man i didn't see it coming

    good luck 4 u

  • Thanks for vid. No fix is working for me at the moment. How do you know what numbers to put in those fields? Where do I get the from

    Thanks

  • @shlllong In order to put correct numbers, you must know networking basics - which is why this workaround is a bit complicated. However, a guy posted another workaround on my blog for Galaxy users and it works and as easy as 2 touches and requires no networking knowledge!

All you have to do is launching "all share" application while disconnected, it will ask you to choose a wifi network to connect and will launch the default menu, just choose your connection and wait, it connects in the end! :D

  • Thank you! my friend!

  • @henrylio You're most welcome!
