  • does not work. i get a scene.sqs script not found and I am sure I am doing exactly what the video says.

  • how do i make so the person can look around during the cutscene

  • i have used the mthod you mentioned about setting the save as type, but i still gets the message:script scene not found.. what`s wrong?

  • Stupid music choice. So-so tutorial.

  • 1:41 what is the camera position , i can't find anywhere , sorry for my english

  • I have arma 1 combat operations. can't find a good tutorial for it so i'm forced to fill in the blanks with arma 2 stuff lol. so far everything seems close enough to figure out except where I should put the camera.sqs script. i followed exactly everything but it gives me the same error message every time. "can't find "IntroCam.sqs." when i try to test it. any help would be very nice thanks.

  • THX SOLDIER

  • What If you don't have a numpad? :/ im using a laptop.

  • One person doens't like country

  • the cinema effect wont go, whatever i do it stays on the screen! how do i remove it?

  • THX for the the Tutorial.. veyr help full

  • How can you get the players point of view when in a vehicle(helicopter), because when in intro the point of view is the pilot not the passanger(player)?

  • What if I want to have multiple cameras? How do I tell it to delete the current one while switching over to a second one?

  • @randomperson11111123 u would probably put a switch trigger and have it so what ur looking at, when they go into a certain area. it switches

  • Open the script again and select saveAs.

Name the script with the .sqs extension and set save as type: all files.

If save as type is not set to all files then the script will save with a .txt extension for eg:

    scene.sqs.txt

You can also call the script using "this exec "camera.sqs.txt;" but using the saveAs type is the prefered method.

  • @keefygeorge01 I followed all of the steps like you did but when I type in "This exec "scene.sqs" to open it, it says it can't find the script. I also tried "This exec "Scene.sqs.txt". It still can't find it. I don't know what to do. -_-

  • I saved the script as scene.sqs but when i try to run it it says "Script scene.sqs not found."

How can I get it to be found? I have it in the right spot and am sure the script is right.

  • where do i get the position of the camera from? Please help.

  • @SoulDalto

When you left click in camera view it copies the camera location to clipboard. Then all you need to do is paste it into a text editor.

  • @keefygeorge01 Where is clipboard?

  • @theharester911 Hahaha. Oh brother... Perhaps you should take some computer classes before attempting to work with the creation of game content. Just saying. :-)

  • yeah you never replied to any of my comments and then you reply to that one thanks alot

  • @willins12

    My bad :s

What did you want to know. I must have missed a comment or few :(

  • @keefygeorge01 im haveing a terribly hard time trying to make respawns and i watched your video on it and i couldnt understand it

  • @willins12

What type of respawn. I dont remmember doing a respawn video. Do you mean respawn units and players or something else?

  • @keefygeorge01 i need to do a player respawn

  • @willins12 You need to create a Description.ext in your mission file. All you need to do then is add this line in the description.ext: respawn = respawn_West; You also need to make sure you choose the correct side for eg: respawn = respawn_east respawn = respawn_guerrila respawn = respawn_civilian Once you have created the file with that line all you need to do is place a marker on the map where you want to be respawned and name it the same as the side you chose foe eg: respawn_east
  • thank god some good music not that 'let the bodies hit the ground' bullshit

  • When I try playing locally with my friend it starts right on the mission instead of the intro. How do I launch it from the beginning?

  • @LeninGuy

To do a scene im MP you must do it from the mission editor not the intro section. Its best to use scripting to create the scene then delete the characters when its finnished.

So create the scene in the mission then call the script from the init.sqf

This way the scene will play on every machine. But be aware that you will need to set a checking variable for JIPs (join in players) who join mid game. Otherwise they will only see an empty scene as the units have been deleted.

  • Nice song who is it could you please tell me thanks good tut fella

  • @left4james

Bit of a delay but the song is called "Your Winter" by Sister Hazel

  • SCENE NOT FOUND! FUCK!

  • Always wanted to now how to do this - thanks! How did you get the slowmotion and film grain effects . I know there are film grain, night & day movie effect modules, but I don't know how they work yet. The sepia effect works easily enough.

  • I managed to get this to work, but when I export it to mission seniories it does not find the camera recording. How to do to get them work in the intro in seniories?

  • I managed to get this to work, but when I export it to mission seniories it does not find the camera recording. How to do to get them work in the intro in seniories?

  • now when you save it do you have to put scene or can you put anything and thats how its catagoried so you can use it again? sorry im new at makein vids in arma, also if ive already made a mission when i make the intro when i save it do i put it under the same save or a diffrent one?

  • setacctime 0.5;

The above command is for setting time. So tuse it like this for EG:

    this setacctime 0.5;

1 is normal time so anything under that will slow the time.- 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 etc

  • howd you get good slo mo

  • thannnnkkkkk you soo much

  • everyone with the ''Cant find the script'' problem, Here is this fix:

    1. Open notepad, type the entire script in it and stuff. also make sure you have saved the mission

    2. Click 'Save As' and name it Scene.sqs then at the tab below, you can see two things to chose from. 1 Says ''Document File .txt'' the other ''All files'' Click ''All files''

    3. Put it in the file with your mission in it. Arma2 otherprofiles/etc.

    4. Load up Arma Again

    6. Hit preview.

    Works for ArmA 1 too

  • @greenpeacekiller52 Umm Dude???? WTF are you talking about.... listen.... it dosent works for me... i did the EXACT same thing as you told me to do... and did it work????? NO! Jesus it writes the same thing again and agian!

  • @kasperum you just need the position. the others are extra

  • @greenpeacekiller52 IF you mean the Posiion of the Camera i've Got that pasted in there to! but if you mean the Position of the Txt. file then HELP!

  • @kasperum What exactly gone wrong? Cant you add me to steam, or actually let me add you

  • @greenpeacekiller52 OK i'll write a Personal Messege here on you tube!

  • ok i start and it shows black borders on the screen and my camera is stuck and it wont move at all

  • doesn't work can find the script... i pasted it into the mission folder didnt work...

  • uum i have no script folder why that?

  • Awesome thanks.

  • dude ! DUDE THANKS !!!

  • ok when i try to play after doing all the work it cant find scene.sqs

  • how do we know the position of the camera to paste into notepad....

  • If you have camera.sqs executed in the editer. When you preview and left click it saves the camera position. Then you paste it into the script.

  • now it cant find the scene.sqs, i saved it to scripts area like you did

  • Is there some way i can instruct it to look in that folder?

  • man its not working when i preview its just go back to mission choosing menu please help

  • Hey man, i thought I had it working but i dont.. :( keep getting "script not found". Don't understand what i've done wrong tbh. Followed your code, saved as a .sqs and put it in the mission folder. then put the code in the dudes field, but its not working still.. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

  • Are you sure you saved it as a .sqs

right click the script and check the properties. Make sure it doesn't have txt on the end.

  • This is a much simplier way to attach the camera to an object (rather than playing around with complex scripts I have). The only issue I have is that I cannot switch from one fixed camera (when in a loop) to another. It's fine when just switching from one cam to another (whilst not in a loop i.e. ~8) but when I try to switch from one loop to another it just flickers from the 1st cam pos to the other :(

Do you know of any good cam scripting resources by any chance?

    thx

  • ah lol never mind mate...I found a tutorial on Armaholic...if anyone wants it just let us know.

  • link please

  • Me. Please.

  • @29Gixxer

    i need that link

  • @keefygeorge01 I keep getting the same problem, and I tried changing the name so there was no .txt. at the end. I tried it again when that didnt work and saved it as scene.sqs with the "all files" option and it still didnt work! no idea what im doing wrong. I tried using the sample in the description and it stil said "scrpit not found" or something like that. im gonna go try making it again and hope for the best. anyone nkow what I could be doing wrong? I need some help.....

  • So does it only film it slowmo?

  • Just to let everyone know the other way is to put the script in your arma 2 root folder i.e. programfiles/steam/common/arma2.

    Hope this helps!

  • This is correct but if you export the mission to PBO make sure to place the script in the mission file first or it will export without it.

  • where do you find camera.sqs?

  • @PCgam3r14

Its in the game, you rly dont need to add it anywhere :P

  • THNX m8!

    worked fine ;)

    grtz

  • didn't work form e neither, untill i started messin around. i putted this exec "scene.sqs"; and it kept on saying script not found, BUT when i saved it as a sqs. file in notepad i saw it still used the extension of .txt !... so i placed this exec "scene.sqs.txt": and it worked!

  • @DELITRIXX

    Hey mate,

when you finnish the script go to file and click saveAs rather then save. Then call it scene.sqs and the extension should save as .sqs

    Hope this helps.

  • Hmm, i can get my intro to work fine in the editor and the single player mission but it wont work in the multiplayer, it doesnt say "scene.sqs" not found, it just egnores it and goes right to the briefing. ive got the scene file in missions scripts and MPmissions but it just wont load. :S

  • Great thanks ! but have you got a camera's effect list like the black and white effect at the end of the video?

  • Just search the Arma2 wiki. There is a huge list of effects that can be used.

  • can u put a link

  • when i try and preview it says script scene.sqs not found i cant seem to solve this ?

  • 2 things you may have to change.

1.First try to right click the script and saveAs scene.sqs or you prefered name.

    2. lace the script inside the mission folder.

    hope this helps

  • thanks but how do you lace the script and what is it???

  • Thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Was hoping at last for a way to do intros :) followed your instructions to the letter

put the scene.sqs in the mission folder (checked the mission script & intro at the bottom has units etc etc) the intro will run in editor "intro" but not in mission or when saved as single or multi. just starts mission??? do we need init.sqf or description.sqf to activate?

talking on TS there are a lot of people with same prob are we missing something basic here or Editor addon/update?

  • 1.

create your mission and intro in the same mission file for example:

Set the drop down box to intro and create the scene.

Once your scene is complete change the drop down box to mission and create the mission.

  • 2.

Once the mission and intro are complete save the mission.

Now go to the mission folder you just saved and place scene.sqs in the folder with the mission.sqm

  • 3.

Go back into the editor and load your mission.

Now save and export to single or multiplayer mission.

Now go and launch the new mission from scenarios or multiplayer missions.

    Everything should work.

  • Would be super helpful if you psted the script in the descritpion so i know what im doing wrong...good vid though

  • nice...i'm looking forward to your next tutorial..finally some explanation...i've been searching for this for ages...you got yourself a subscriber

  • This is awsome... I realy injoy this vid. Very educational. I did not know that it worked like that. Thx....

When is the nex movie comming. I am looking forward to the tracking and moving part. realy need this, so thx once again. 10/10

  • Thats a great idea. Ill have a look into it and put it to the community and see what happens. Thanks for your input :D

  • i have this problem...i have my script all set up and named...but i don't have a folder named scripts...can you help please?

  • Go to

    Documents/ArmA2

and create a folder called scripts

    or

you can place the script directly in your mission folder for example-

    documents/ArmA2/missions/YourMissionName

  • ok i did both and i still get the error "can't find script 'example.sqs' " i did it as well as in the intro in the editor as in the mission.

  • I'm glad I watched this. I can cam script quite well but now I understand ouw to terminate the camera instead of having to click on skip within the ecp option menu.

What would really be nice is if someone could develop an more GUI based editor as this would be handy for developing scripts which act like a running camera - as in Saving Private Ryan - the beach taking scene with Tom Hanks running up the beach.

  • awsome i love you <3 make more tuts :D
