My grandma couldn't because she's dead, well, both are tbh. And you'd have to be pretty thick not to know how to hold a stick because in my experience any way which feels natural will get the job done. Furthermore, this channel is called "Expert Village" not "Noob Village".
@lolocaustism An experienced musican won't have any big problems but people are pretty thick when it comes to drum sticks. They think that just hitting the cymbals with the sticks is all there is to it and then complain of the bad sound, that's why there's a ton of videos on "how to hold the drum sticks" and even when they do, it still takes time to master even quarter note patterns.
Also, I still stand by my opinion. I don't think a beginner drummer would turn to jazz music.
sabian and zildjian are made from the same family lol, i forget the whole story but like someone ran off n made their own cymbals or w.e...(probly way off), its just the sound u prefer, sabians got some realllllly nice cymbals, zildjians just more expensive

this is actually a good video for beginners because for alot of people starting out, its difficult to do the four things at once. so practicing this helps with the coordination.

Some of you guys posting here are idiots... Its a lesson on a very basic swing pattern... and any professional drummer has to know how to use it IN TIME and consistently on a session... You can study all the fancy stuff you want (which is what your teachers are teaching you at the corner music shop) but unless you can stuff like this like the man is explaining, you're not going to be able to play REAL sessions as a professional drummer.

@lolocaustism Most ppl don't even know how to hold the drum sticks and I doubt your grandma could either. Jazz takes skill and even a good drummer needs to be shown the basics of it.

My grandma couldn't because she's dead, well, both are tbh. And you'd have to be pretty thick not to know how to hold a stick because in my experience any way which feels natural will get the job done. Furthermore, this channel is called "Expert Village" not "Noob Village".

@lolocaustism An experienced musican won't have any big problems but people are pretty thick when it comes to drum sticks. They think that just hitting the cymbals with the sticks is all there is to it and then complain of the bad sound, that's why there's a ton of videos on "how to hold the drum sticks" and even when they do, it still takes time to master even quarter note patterns.
Also, I still stand by my opinion. I don't think a beginner drummer would turn to jazz music.

sabian and zildjian are made from the same family lol, i forget the whole story but like someone ran off n made their own cymbals or w.e...(probly way off), its just the sound u prefer, sabians got some realllllly nice cymbals, zildjians just more expensive

this is actually a good video for beginners because for alot of people starting out, its difficult to do the four things at once. so practicing this helps with the coordination.

you mean two the 17" a custom cymbals and the ping ride you have? seriously, i doubt it cost's more than my kit all by itself man, im NOT saying my kit is better by the money... i use 4 aax cymbals AND sabian compared to zildjian are pretty much the same, i just prefer sabian

I have 18", 19" Crashes, 22" Ping ride, 13" K/Z hats and a 8" Splash..they hardly sound like shit and I have seen that kit..they cost more

Some of you guys posting here are idiots... Its a lesson on a very basic swing pattern... and any professional drummer has to know how to use it IN TIME and consistently on a session... You can study all the fancy stuff you want (which is what your teachers are teaching you at the corner music shop) but unless you can stuff like this like the man is explaining, you're not going to be able to play REAL sessions as a professional drummer.
