I always wondered how The Giants could be so dominating in 1986, and then be so awful in 1987 with, virtually, the same team (minus the replacement players obviously)

I have been a lifelong Giants fan, but when I look back at this I wonder whether they were really as good as the Bears or 49er's back then. Maybe they caught a break in 86' at the right time? I don't know...

they lost 2 tough games to start the season, then by the time the real team played another game the record was 0-5. They were actually 6-4 from that point on, but the season was pretty much lost by then
