props 2 who put this vid 2gether.. v nice editing/music collab. also props 2 Brodie Smith. amazing player. and wat passion and heart 4 the game/soon 2 b 'SPORT'. ;) LOVE wat he's doing 4 Ultimate now..
@SotonSkunk00 i might have agreed with u if he hadnt been like two feet higher than the other guy who looked like he wasnt even trying to get the disc, no foul :)
Easily, he was the most talented and gifted player in College Ultimate in 2010. Its just a shame he also happened to be the biggest win-at-all-costs douche in Ultimate too.
This is probably the greatest individual ultimate highlight reel I have seen. Brodie Smith is a monster on the field. He can do it all, handle, sky, lay out, you name it. He's possibly the best player in college ultimate...however, he does not have the attitude to win the Callahan. The award is about athleticism and sportsmanship, and sadly Smith lacks the latter. I know people who have met and played with him, and I even watched him at Nationals on TV this year...and he is not a good sport.
@Manson9837 sorry you feel that way...people sometimes look at my competitive nature as too much...but all i want to do is win. Can't fault me for my fire and passion.
@brodiesmith21 "all i want to do is win. Can't fault me for my fire and passion." Actually I think that's exactly the thing people take issue with, Brodie. Some people feel that sportsmanship means caring about more than just winning at all costs.
@lmrickford If winning isn't everything then why would you even keep score? Why would you get trophies or prizes? Winning is the whole point of sports. Do you know what it's like to make huge plays? You don't want to have to just smile and take pats on the back from people, you want to express yourself. A person on the field is completely different than off the field.
@brodiesmith21 what place did you end up with for callahan? most people here probably play rec ultimate and have never played college open where "spirit" is totally different. I have no problem with spiked discs or celebrations at that level

Ultimate frisbee is gay and no one gives a shit. I make fun of the faggots that play frisbee on the reg. Gettin fucked up on the reg, gettin bitches on the reg
@spicymike417 I imagine the only thing gayer would be someone taking the time to comment on an ultimate frisbee video. Better switch tabs, those "bitches" are waiting for you to type in your credit card information to talk to them.
@spicymike417 You are a lazy shit who has never played the sport before. This is an absolutely amazing show of human ability. Btw that hammer at :54 is ridiculous.
Not to be a complainer, but his spirit seems pretty terrible, and he doesn't catch on D, which when he is playing club is going to bite him in the ass.
Not to be a complainer, but his spirit seems pretty terrible, and he doesn't catch on D, which when he is playing club is going to bite im in the ass.
@andrewlotto When you think about it though, would you rather win the Callahan and NOT win the national championship, or would you rather have it the other way around? Food for thought. He could have had both if he wasn't such a ginormous douche though.
@asciiguy283 I can say with absolute certainty that winning a championship was everything to Brodie. On the other hand we knew he probably wasn't going to get the Callahan because it is a popularity contest. We were all taking bets on where he would fall and as it went 5th to 4th to 3rd... we were all smiling thinking "There's no way he wins this thing".
@asciiguy283 The fact is that the Callahan did not and often doesn't go to the best player in college ultimate. The last 5 Callahan awards could arguably have belonged to a Florida player. If ultimate had sports writers that voted for it, Brodie would have gotten 399 out of 400 votes. Hard to change a reputation once it is made, and intensity and confidence are polarizing, but he is in all honesty a great person and friend. Gonna have to take my word on that one unless you know him personally.
@feldmang I'm definitely not doubting him personally. I'm sure he's a great dude. I think its just that SOTG is such a big part of Ultimate, and a lot of players see his competitiveness and grit as lack of spirit, you know? It seems like Ultimate players want the Callahan award winner to embody physical talent and some on-field humility. Either way, haters gon' hate. You guys won the championship, and I'd say that's the bigger prize.
Actually, there was a section in the latest UPA magazine about how Brodie actually quit frisbee for a while because he didn't like the team's or his attitude. And after a couple months, he came back and said that he'd play frisbee again if his team would start having respect for opponents, team mates, and there would be no more cursing on the team. It's true, look it up if you have a magazine.
I have to disagree with Onwisconsin18. Brodie has great hucks and is great at making plays with his legs and height. I haven't seen him make many great breakside throws, but that could be because with his height and speed he's filling other roles. I agree with the UF foul stuff too, but haven't really seen it from him.
Brodie has amazing throws and I would give him my vote for the Callahan this year, but if this highlight reel were accurate then half of it would be him standing for 5 seconds then calling a foul to get more time to look for a huck.
Insta-smile :)

Anyone who saw the final at 2010 nationals knows three things for certain.
1. Brodie Smith was the best playmaker.
2. He won't win spirit awards
3. He couldn't care less.
That said, kid shows in this video
