  • Parallax scrolling on the 2600!!! :)

  • Thank you!

Still i would love to see the "bonus level" which starts when you "rescue" the mothership I guess.

Have lost that game decades ago and never found it again. But it burned into my memory!

  • Enduro is also another atari game that has day/night settings. But I guess he's just talking about flying games.

  • 2:54 lol

  • 2:52

  • check out 2:51 for proof of bad hit detection

  • @pugfan1976 why do you have to comment 3 times to say 1 thing? its annoying as hell

  • This game has the worst hit detection ever. Ruins the fun

  • ou baby

  • you got gta 4, 2 weeks early, and gt5 about 3 years early? WOW

  • i'm already bored of this game just by the end of the review.

  • lol .

  • Neat looking game. I like that you can actually see your ship's shadow on the surface of the planet during the daytime. A very nice graphical touch for a 2600 title. Oh, and the cartridge looks interesting, too. Reminds me of the quasi-legal 'game paks' that Tengen produced for the NES, back in the day :)

  • and BTW @ 1:01 - that's a 'tunnel' - you need to try and fly through that

  • Right on.

One of the MOST underrated games for the VCS.

Nothing outrageous -- just scroll & shoot. But well programmed, kept throwing curves - (i.e. flying to left) - never too frantic, but it sucked you right in.

Wish they were this playable today.

  • this reminds me of nokia 3310 :D

  • My Best Friend Plays This When He And I Are In My Room Watching Him Play with my other friends?

    he is kinda adicted

  • my god, so many flashbacks, thanks for post.......

I pretty sure enduro racer did the day and night thing

  • man that thumb grip sure is gonna help after all those sticks of butter......

  • This game ruled i used to play it for hours!!!

  • Damn... i used to pwn this game. I loved it SO much. Thnx for reminding me m8.

  • No way, this game is fun (not the absolute best but still fun) and even though yes it was released in 83 it doesnt mean it's one of the carbon copy games.

And he actually has reviewed Enduro already.

  • I love this game. I'm better at right to left scrollers than left to right being right handed naturally easier for me.

  • I played Planet Patrol to death back in the 80s. It was great for its time.

  • You're not supposed to shoot the black ship. You're supposed to rescue it.

  • Quite true.

    Loved this game.

  • @crvandme LOL indeed

  • @crvandme That's right I had that game myself and when you hear the beep of fat black ship that's your rescue and extra points.

  • Intestring you mention Battlestar Galactica. Mattel actually released a BSG themed console game, a first person space shooter with an overworld. (a bit like Star Raiders or Space Spartan)

But at the last minute they couldn't get the license for the name, so it was instead called Space Battle (Intellivision) and Space Attack (Atari; M-Network) the latter of which I have and find pretty fun. (FP Space shooters being one of my favorite generes)

  • Atari 2600 - for the kids with no cable and not enough money to buy an NES growing up. I know because that was my siblings and I.

    Great video.

  • I've killed way too many braincells in college.

  • i will be making dreamcast reviews soon

  • Yeah! Awesome game indeed!

And this is probably the only right-to-left horizontal shoot'em up I've ever seen. Does anybody know of another one?

  • sky kid for the nes

  • I had never heard about Sky Kid, now it's in my shmup want list.

    Thanks for the hint!

  • COOL

  • hmmm pretty cool game, I never heard of it. Looks like fun and it has a lot of good detail for a 2600 game.

  • This game is very well detailed for a system with a limit like the 2600. Good review, looks like a good time killer.

  • The perspective on this game is 'mind-blowing, dude.' It is impressive--look at the shadow with respect to the sun. But isn't this a top-down view? Wait, then why is that gas truck like that? Oh, my brain. Great video.

  • is this game really that obscure? because i actually own it and had no clue

  • Dammit! I hate it when I can not grip my Atari games after putting butter on my toast! Way cool video! Did not see that one coming. I liked this game. Good video!

  • nice vid again guys
