Nice video, but I think the 4runners offroad capabilities are better. You get it up on two wheels and you almost don't even know it because the 4WD system kicks in so fast and there's instant traction. Plus it can tow 7000 which is more than the old ones and it doesn't sag as much under tongue weight. Just my two cents.

Now when is Toyota going to put a 5.7 in a 4Runner?

Yeah the 4runners are great. The Sequoia has the same 4WD as the 03-06 Tundra and 4r - Low Range, locking center differential, ATRAC and electronic low for hill ascent/descent. I just got back from the high sierras for a week... had several instances locked in 4lo and feeling ATRAC shifting power to the opposite corners where I still had traction. Fun times!

It is actually a 4.0L and the tow rating is only 5k pounds. That's 2,000 less than mine! I guess it will be my last 4Runner as I bought it to tow my 5k boat. The whole reason I bought it was because my Pilot was over its towing capacity. Did you hear this TOYOTA!!!!!

I've done this and more in my 2007. I've been blown away by what I've gotten into and out of. Put it in 4lo and lock the center dif and you can get yourself, 3 friends and all your gear just about anywhere you want to go.

For many reasons, I think that Land Cruiser is better, but... the Sequoia is a very good vehicle too, but Land Cruiser was made for off road, Sequoia is more for the family who looks for adventure and versatility.

I would go with the sequoia. I think the landcruiser costs more and the sequoia is more rugged, the cruiser is more luxury.

The Sequoia interestingly is a car based SUV...albeit a kick ass one for what it is.

Land cruiser has the pedigree and the history where as teh Sequoia was originally just supposed to be a family cruiser aimed biased more towards highway travel but also with a taste of ruggedness for family's who seek adventure.

Why do you think the UN has always used Land cruisers and they're so often referred to when in Africa or Australia?

yep, especially with the stock locker! Very nice vehicle... but will it carry 7 people comfortably around town and 6 people with all their gear to Vegas or camping? AND, still do some significant offroading when you get there? The versitility is what I value most.

fuck that shit what do you think the tundra is built off of, Why do they offer a 4wd system. It has a fully welded fully boxed frame not to mention a v8 and a 6500 towing capacity. I guess you might need to tow 6000 pounds of diapers. Sure the numbers arent that high but they beat the shit out of any minivan or midsize suv

I highly doubt that... if i'm not mistaken Sequoia has the highest ground clearance in its class, and the ATRAC system is pretty darn good and has been proven on the Land Cruiser for years. The Tahoe with the locking rear differential might be better, but the Expedition and Durango surely are not.

Sequoia's have a system called ATRAC, which is basically having a limited slip differential on each axle. If a wheel loses traction on an axle, the wheel with more traction will gain more power. You can also lock the center differential in 4LO.
