This game sucks.. lol to people who spent $150 on CE.. aha i was hyped for this since day 1 and ever since beta, Bioware trolled the community with this BS gameplay. $200 million for this garbage is a joke.
I've done some math a week ago. The EU servers: 80% of them are standard load between 8 PM and 12 PM, the rest are light. If a standard server holds around 2.5k players, even with the added light ones, you get around 60k players.
The US is doing a bit better, with a result of just over 95k.
@Vire70 Congratulations! You've made it to the bonus round:
Answer me these questions:
1. Did you comprehensively read my 2 posts? Specifically: "That's assuming every player plays an entire hour, then is replaced by a different account.".
2. Do you play SWToR for more than an hour per day?
@Vire70 Actually, scratch that, I'll assume you DO play more than an hour every day. In that case, the total number of players would drop and be less than 1.7 million.
I was being extremely generous. Some SWToR players, on the official forums, say that Standard load doesn't even approach 1k players, and I gave Standard 2.5k.
Then, I assumed that every hour, 60k and 95k NEW players join the servers, with the old ones disconnecting.
So, yeah, way to go willfully ignoring all I've said!
I didn't ignore anything. I fail to see how your statements (which I generally agree with) prove the point you were trying to make. How is 1.7 million players a day "dead"? Moreover, half that number to 850k a day... and still how is that "dead"?
Seems like plenty to me. Indeed, I never find myself struggling to find groups or people to play with; there's tons of players on all the time. Even using your own figures you cant prove your point, that's a pretty big fail.
@Vire70 It's not 1.7 million active players per day. That's the point.
It would be under ridiculous circumstances, like those that I've mentioned: Every hour of every day is played by different players and no player is allowed to play the game for more than an hour.
And yes, that 850k per day I agree with. I never said SWToR is "dead", so that's not what I'm trying to prove. I'm using these numbers to show how most people defending this game are LIARS.
So you don't think the game is dead, but you think those who say it isn't are lying? Again... I am totally befuddled by your statements.
Anyway, those who leave the game now are simply impatient and foolish. It genuinely is too new to possibly meet the ludicrous expectations people have. They want to compare it to WoW and see it as inferior (in terms of features/content amount) and then act surprised. It's pitiably naive on their part.
@Vire70 /facepalm. You people who are defending it throw around "1.7m subs" as if it holds any water.
.
"It genuinely is too new to possibly meet the ludicrous expectations people have" - Wrong. Even free MMOs have the basic functionality WoW has. What about the group finder? Why do GW2 and TERA have it implemented in Beta?
Um, no. It isn't that hard to talk in genchat. You might even talk to people that way. Most group finders have utterly failed in mmo's. Seriously, I care so little about a group finder that I didn't even realize it wasn't implemented.
Besides, I can say 850k. And that isn't dead, you agreed. So you're holding a contrary argument. You said 850k isn't dead, but that those who say that many people play are liars. It can't be both.
@Vire70 "You said 850k isn't dead, but that those who say that many people play are liars. It can't be both." - No! Point me to a post where YOU said "Many people are playing... yup, it's dead.". I said people who claim SWToR has 1.7 mil subs are liars, without realizing that sub numbers =/= active players.
What about those that payed for a year thinking this game will be good and got bored after a month? Do they get a refund for the remaining 11 months? No, result: false sub count.
Well subscriber numbers are significant for several reasons;
1) They're paying, so the game will still be updated so long as people subscribe (whether they play is irrelevant)
2) They will likely start playing again later. I suspect there's going to be a population spike when patch 1.2 is released as it's fixing a lot.
3) I'm pretty sure there are more than 1.7m subscribers, and there's at least half that who are active playing. Once again all talk of 'dead' is nonsense to me.
I can assure you that SWTOR has not got 1.7m active players anymore. Half that number, then deduct a little more, and you might be close to the actual number of active people. Just check the server status yourself. Server status is nothing like what it was 1½ month ago.
Thank you SO MUCH. I've felt like I've been stumbling about, not able to get my UI in a place I like it. (I'm a WoWUI style junkie I admit it.) The "you can move it around" had me hooked on the video. Many <3's.
Is it not possible to move the party members panels about at all? I've only been in one brief party but the name panel was stuck under my chat window, do you have to put the chat window back into the top left to be able to see your party members properly?
I saw that when beta testing but couldn't figure out how to get companions to show up (which was crucial as often I did instances with a companion or 2 and they weren't the brightest at getting out of aoe damage etc. Any ideas? Thanks
I must ask, what is your opinion on healers? I've healed through raids on WoW, Rift, and even DCUO. I've heard a very hit and miss and I'd like an opinion from someone with experience as well. I'm very interested in the Sith Inquisitor. Thanks in advance if you reply.
@IronJesus I personally am loving the healing model in SWTOR. Its not to different from other games but does add the need to manage our resources a bit more than others. This makes healing a lot more exciting than whack a mole.
A great source for SWTOR healing info is over at forceheal com
@TORHangout Fantastic, thanks for the reply. :) I'm really hoping I get a chance to get into the beta. I really wanna start the game, and the Collector's Edition is looking sexy, but I'm afraid it'll lose my interest like the other recent MMO'.s I'll check out that site. Thanks again.
Really handy stuff. I've been playing a healer in WoW for the last couple of years and was really not liking my options in the weekend-beta I just tried, but this actually helps a bit. Thanks a lot :)
@Raptor8762 I have not had a chance to test the frames in a operation yet, but a few builds back I remember the ability to change the height of the overall container frame.
If you look when I unlock the frame you will see a little indicator on the bottom right of the container that indicates it can be stretched and changed. It will take some testing but I believe that will do the trick.
At the bottom of your party frame there is a "size adjust" thingy when you click and drag it it will reshape the frame just make it a long rectangle (horizontal) instead of up and down (vertical)

@darthvader7888 Now, let's assume that every hour, those 60k, 95k players, respectively are replaced with another 60k and 95k.
Since there are no Asian servers, we'll presume EU has 8 hours of playtime and the US has 12.
EU (over 8 hours) = 480k players.
US (over 12 hours) = 1140k players.
For a grand total of 1620k players, 1.7 million, roughly.
That's assuming every player plays an entire hour, then is replaced by a different account. So I've been more than generous.

@TheKainMan
So 1.7 million active players per day is... "dead' ? What fantasy land are you living in?
