I still can't believe someone posted this particular, beloved scene. I am constantly thinking of this dialog..."What was in those boxes??!!!" Heh, heh.
One of my favorite scenes in all of the old horror films. Lugosi apparently took great pleasure in this role and it shows throughout the film. This was perhaps his greatest performance, too, as he actually stole the show from his rival, Karloff, who was forced to perform as the monster with no dialog, a dumb move, after the success of "Bride of Frankenstein"! Thanks for posting this!
Actually, Bela is an amazing, er, was an amazing actor. I don't think that there is anyone still to this day, that can act like him, Karloff, Rathbone, Jack Benny, Percy Killbride, Lionel Atwill, poor Mr. Colin Clive, & Vincent Price.
Those guys were the greatest! Christopher Lee is still kicking and it was to his credit that he did not participate in the terrible remake of "The Wicker Man". There is a remake coming up in 2009 of "The Wolf Man" starring Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Sir John Talbot, and Geraldine Chaplin as Maleva (cool). IMDB has someone listed as playing the "Gypsy Man", so that must be "Bela". In so many films, it seems that Lugosi really was just playing himself!
@LesbianVampireLover yeah, i agree. i was thankful to the director of this film to include the character of Ygor and made it one of Lugosi's finest roles ever played
He's even better in this role than he was in Dracula, if you ask me.

I can't say how much I love the old Universal Horrors and Ygor was the best of the best - always scared me when I was little.
