They ask for 10% because that is the law of tithing, as taught in the bible. Mormons have made that a requirement to get in the temple because thats an indicator of good fellowship and following God's commandments. If you want to knock down Mormonism for that, you may as well knock down most of Christianity itself. I wonder why, when people talk bad about the LDS faith, people don't also mention the other screwups of protestant pastors, preachers, priests' child molestation cases, etc.

Asking for ten percent of a person's gross income in modern times is a far cry form asking for a tenth of their incresae in biblical times. LDS Inc does it because they are blood sucking parasites that can get away with it.

Tithing is paid on the INCREASE of the size of your flock, not on evey lamb that comes along to replace those that were sold /consumed for your living. Its on the increase of the spread size of your field, not on every stalk of wheat that comes along year after year. BIG DIFFERENCE!

i completly agree!! the latter day saints dont practice polygamy! some fundementalists do but they are not mormon. the makers of this film have used a lds church to make out that it is all mormons that act in this way but that is a false accusation, the makers of the film should really do their research before making these accusations. that or they knew all along and have twisted the truth with misconceptions to create negative attitudes towards the mormon church

But please, do not confuse the LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) with the FLDS Church. It is a misrepresentation. The FLDS church is actually closer to Joseph Smith and Brigham Young's LDS than today's mainstream LDS.

Everything was changed just before the 20th century when the US ordered that the Mormons cease any and all polygamous activity. Many Mormons were prosecuted for having multiple wives that mainstream LDS decided to halt polygamy.

Read the book "One Nation Under Gods" for a full history of the Mormon church.

Just for those watching. Those shown in this video are from the FLDS church, not the LDS or mainstream "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints"- commonly known as Mormons, of which I am one. We do not practice polygamy- in fact, one is excommunicated for doing so, which is why we broke off ties with the FLDS so long ago. I, being a Mormon, have never heard of a blood oath/atonement (other than that of Jesus Christ), but maybe the have something like that in the FLDS community.

I was just going to post the same info, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints only got a 'revelation' to cease its polygamist ways when the US govt cracked down on them.

A central doctrine of Mormon theology, however, is still that only a polygamist will attain the highest heaven, become a god, and spend eternity making spirit babies with all his goddess wives.

As I heard it, those were trumped up charges, and not the first time the Mormon church ex-communicated those who willingly left the church, and trumping up charges as well.
