  • freakin amazing! Black Thought is awesome.

  • Want to see Dave do more rap. Like this.

  • Look into my daughter's eyes, wonder how can I provide

Got to get from A to B but how can I afford to drive?

Messed around, tried to get a job and wasn't qualified

Had to see a pal of mine, got to get the lightning rod

Now I'm in the black Impala looking for the dollar sign

Palms get the itching man I got to get the calamine

Before I fall behind, guess the grind will be my 9 to 5

I will not be conquered by, I will not apologize

  • Yo, a revolution's what it's smelling like, it ain't going be televised

Governments is hellified, taking cake and selling pies

I ain't got a crust or crumb, to get some I'd be well obliged

Murder is comodified, felon for the second time

Never was I into chasing trouble I was followed by

Facing trouble with no alibi, had to swallow pride

    Vilified, victimized, penalized, criticized

Ran into some people that's surprised I was still alive

  • wow. thanks for posting. now this is what i call serious ass quality rapping. holy shit!

  • man howd you transcribe this??!

  • this rap wasn't actually a spontaneous free style of any sort.."I Will Not Apologize" was on the Root's 2008 album, Rising Down..the beat is similar to eh hee so I'm guessing Black Thought figured it would work

  • best verse of any rapper ever.

  • "Eh Hee" the remix. lol

  • now i must change my underwear

  • That's pretty sick

  • top 10 performances of DMB's career

  • Anyone who can't appreciate the fusion and power of these two genres coming together is stuck in their own sad pool of ignorance... wake up haters!

  • Word!...

  • Unbelievable. It's the ROOTS. It says in the name.

    RIP Roi.

  • grunting? dumbass

  • part 3:

  • you're a fucking idiot. i saw this shit live and they killed it. this just shows how dave can take his style music and mix it modern style rap , or just about anything for that matter. that's talent.

  • Saw it live too, damn they need to come out with a CD... Like Jay-Z and Linkin Park except it would completely own that shit like nothin'.

Anyone have the lines to this with the Roots' singer, and Dave interlocking? Not entirely clear to me

  • "I will not apologize, won't apologize, won't apologize, look

  • thats by far my favorite verse of any rap song i have ever heard

  • Listen,

    And I'm still the one

Am i a poet or a prophet or a stone to build upon?

And whats the reason i still perform?

feed children or, be on the hustle from dusk 'til dawn

When all the love and the trust is gone

My eyes open like a baby that just was born

can't really make out the rest sorry

  • Sick combination....

  • i wanna go to alpine so badly

  • Wow thank you for posting this video! I was at both shows at Alpine. We had Lawn Seats both nights any of you who were there do you remember how muddy it was? It was so sloppy! People falling all over the place it was a great time. This song brings back great memories of that wknd

  • this is amazing. i don't like much rap. but the roots make this version sound really good.

  • Bad-ass!!!!!! Tight!!!

  • smokin blunts in the 2nd row

  • How could this not be on one of the bonus discs given for pre-ordering like piedmont park or something??? I was front row at this show at Alpine. It was amazing!!

  • I can't believe the combo, fuckin' sick!

Roots crew and DMB.....life is good

  • fuckin badasses

  • Ya this concert was at Alpine VAlley in Wisconsin. This was my 7th dave mathews band concert, and by far the best.

  • One of the best guest performances with DMB in recent memory.

  • there is nothing wrong with rap if it is used in the right way. For instance, this is good rap because it means something.

I absolutelly can't stand that mainstream rap shit. They repeat the same gay ass shit over and over again. This however is scrumtrulecent!!! -will ferrell-

  • that's what makes you an idiot if you can't appreciate good lyricism.

  • In the words of Peter Griffin, I disagree with your response, but I will defend with my life the right to say it...

  • you can defend all you want but that doesn't make you less of an idiot.

  • Call me all the names you want - I still disagree. Anyone can get up there and throw a bunch of words together to the rhythm of the song.

  • ifs thats so than go do it, tape it and post it.

  • All I have to do is stand behind someone playing a guitar, look clueless, and say "I won't apologize, no I won't apologize"

  • so what are you waiting for. tape it, post it, prove it. unless you're a chump.

  • if you can't get into this song then you don't have a pulse.

  • honestly, throwing words together?? dude, do you NOT listen to some of dave's lyrics? go take a listen to "drive in, drive out". DMB has some of the best lyrics (some songs dont make much sense but hey, he was prolly high while writin it lol) but its still THE absolute shit. the roots is also a VERY respectable hip hop group. a LOT better than 50 Cent and soulja boy. DMB is the best, no doubt! i wasnt at this show but in nc they did a VERY nice version. i wish i was there to see this one

  • Wasn't talking about DMB... Dave is one of the best lyricists in the world. Dave and the band have talent.

  • i kno youre not talkin about dave. im saying that daves lyrics seem to be thrown together. so really if its that easy, why is he hailed to be one of the best musicians lyrically? to some it may seem like lyrics are thrown together (u say the roots) but theyre not. im sure that theres a reason why the roots were asked to perform with such a prestigious group of people. apparently dmb saw somethin in em that you dont. but id go with their opinion about music over yours any day. but thats just me

  • Thats whats so great about America - I'm entitled to my opinion just like you are entitled to yours.

  • drive in drive out is a nonsense song, he has said that publicly. He wrote it as a song for Carter to go nuts on, and just mess around. He doesn't just throw his lyrics together because it seems like it in one song, c'mon now chet.

  • i was front row for this concert, if you appreciate music then you will accept this as one of the best colaborations ever.....

  • I envy you =)

  • You think Black Thought RUINED this song? Don't dismiss him just because he raps! Read some of his lyrics and listen how he encorporates the words effortlessly into the beats. He's jaw-droppingly good! Dave Matthews (musical genius) and Black Thought is an ASTOUNDING collaboration.

  • they just dropped a classic right there. any one know where i could get this track ??

  • OMG!!! This guys are just insane.

  • I was super lucky. Was 7th row dead center for this. It was ridiculous and disgusting. Especially the last half of the song. One of the top moments of the entire tour.

  • i dont get how you can not like this song. its amazing. hes so smart to add the roots also. dave is a genius

  • This was amazing. They absolutely blew this up, wish I could have been there! DMB again showing their versatility and how they can cross over to so many genres of music -- best band in show business, for sure!

  • Oh thank you so much for posting this ! Takes me back!!! I just can't believe I missed Rage the night before. Two nights of DAVE was bliss tho! Just linked it pop pow !

  • all of you where were here were so fricken LUCKY biotches!

  • This rap is better than the time G. Love guested on Smooth Rider. Black Thought killed it.

  • i was there when G Love guested on Smooth and you are right...this is WAY better.

  • this was absolutely insane! unprecedented! the best song of the weekend.. Black Thought and Dave Matthews on the same stage, wow!

  • not the first time, they did a live mash up on the NAACP awards a few years ago. sick.

  • saw DMB only 3 times this year but was at both nights at Alpine, I thought nothing could beat last year's Alpine concert, I was wrong.....Alpine was the absolute best ever (been to 13 DMB concerts total)

  • Seen them 6 times this year, and hence seen Eh Hee 6 times. This version was far and away the best.

  • Instant classic.

  • what a great version of this song.... i wish i was there.
