Hi - thanks for your comment we have had 4 dogue's - 2 we paid £1,500 the other 2 we paid about £1,200 but if you go to google and put in dogue de bordeaux for sale you can get them for around £600 as long as they are Kennel Club registered and had the usual checks done, ie hip score ect., and have a fairly good pedigree history. We have been very unlucky with ours and we went to apparently good breeders. Next time I will buy from a one off litter. Good Luck
Hi - I really sorry to hear about your dogue, I have also just lost my last dogue, after Freddie and Kane we had brother & sister - Doc & Daisy we lost Doc at 10 months old and Daisy was 14 months old both with kidney disease, we knew a long while ago they were very ill and would not be with us for long. My vet informs me that there life span now, is 3 years. I'm desperate for another but cannot take the heartbreak and more than that I cannot see another dogue suffer from illness. Very sad.
My dogue had a lot of problems like jaw cancer, heart diesease and a stomach cancer and i am never getting another one again. They are the best dogs ever!
Kane was an amazing dog, I know that just from watching your videos of him. I'm sorry for your loss, but you have been blessed to have such a wonderful companion!
I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean by chock - if you mean does it tighten when pulled hense chocking them - then most defiently not - it you mean does it have a studded inside or whatever - things like that are illegal in England - thankfully. It is a dark brown leather collar with a tan leather inerlining and in between the leather's are raised oblong and round gold studs. We got it from an American dog collar site
what a beautiful dogue mines getting to be around 4 she has heart murmors the doc says i hope its nothing worse but the short lives they live sometimes are at leas full of all the love the happy owners of this breed give them they are such wonderful animals.
Hi - thanks for your e.mail, unfortunately dogues seem to have health issues, we,ve been told their high on list for health issues, only my opinion, I think its to much interbreeding!!!!!! All I know, I can,t imagine having any other dog, there loyal, loving and your best friend, wherever you go your dogue is sure to follow, I personally would not breed unless I had full history, blood lines ect., I've also been told they only live about 6 years, I've only seen red /tan coats. Good Luck
Man I'm so in love with these dogs and I wish I could have one myself but unfortunately I cannot because I live alone and don't have much time to dedicate to... I feel very sorry for you and I can understand what you feel. I had a german shepard when I was a kid and he died too..we were living in symbiosis...
Ignore the ignorant comments from these people. I think you're doing an awesome job. You're teaching your dog and child mutual respect for one another. The dog needs to not think the world revolves around them and everyone in the family must walk on eggshells in their presence and the child needs to learn how to be gentle and respect the dog. My Dogues grew up with my now 8 yr old son and I did the SAME things - and my Dogues are happy and healthy!!! Ignorant people.
I'm very sorry , I understand your big loss. I have 3 years old ddb named Paco. He confirms the hole oppinion about their medical problems. He has got a big problem atopiv dermatitis. The latest therapy with dog interferon is promising. I would everything for him. He was the biggest love of my passed away wife. He misses her and still waits for her......
Thanks for your comments, and I totally agree with you about their medical problems and they make the best friends - I still miss him. Sorry about your dogue.
@mydogcane1 Sorry about ur loss - it can be hard losing such a valued pet but wanted a little advice, my friend has a Dogue and she is rather worried about her lifespan, everywhere she reads it says they last til age 6, is this true?? And also she is wanting to breed her but she isnt sure about the bloodlines as she wants a brown dogue puppy but was told this is a defect is this true?? Any advice would be appreciated :)
@lelabee11 Dogues can make it past 10, 12 in our case. This all depends on the breeder you got them from. There a lot of irresponsible breeders in the UK who are just selling inbred DDB's for profit without any concern for the breed or the individual dogs or the owners.
Lovely dog...Reminds me of my girl Nina.Sadly we lost her as well at 4 years due to a bad heart. Its unfortunate that Dogues have alot of health problems because they make wonderful companions.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Kane was just gorgeous, I'm actually going thru watching all of your videos right now because he's just such an awesome DDB. I hated to read that you lost him. I have 2 DDBs and hope I don't feel that pain for a long time. Its terrible that such wonderful dogs are plagued with these conditions. Again, I am truly sorry for your loss.
good vid these dogs r great i have 1 of these melanoma heads myself they love kids 2 much no prom 4 who ever wants 1 they grow alot 2 yrs 2 get full size 161lbs mine is
Ahh Bordeaux's are so sweet! Especially with children. They would never harm them and have a very soft charachter around the house. I have one too and he's also adorable. I love the way yours is so peaceful with your baby. I'm sorry he past away... Such a lovely dog!
I am sorry to hear of your loss. He is beautiful. We are expecting our daughter the end of this month and I was just browsing to watch videos of Dogue with babies. We have a year and a half old male Dogue> Thank You for sharing videos of your Kane.
Hi - I hate to tell you this but we lost Kane about 4 months ago he was not quite 3 years old - he had heart disease - just cannot delete the videos yet as I miss him so much - the answer to your question is no he never had skin problems. Thanks for looking at the video - I still get exited when someone comments about him - he was my baby and such a good dog - he was my best mate.
@mydogcane1 Im very sorry for your loss. I felt the same way about my BJ, he was a Pittbull that when i was little i would ride on his back and he would pull me around on my wagon. When we lost him i was very heart broken, but thinking back on it and knowing what kind of dog he was. I know he went out fighting like a champ. And from the look of it, your dog was a champ as well, lot of heart.
hi, does your dog have any skin problems??? i'be being fighting a skin problem from "miko" my french mastiff for 3 years and there is nothing i can do
Your dog's like, "Um, hello? do I get OT for this? Where's my union rep?"
