There is a high chance he will be in because he's the most requested character and since snake is in it's not only nintendo anymore. There are also other reasons but i don't feel like typing them. Personally i wouldn't care if he was in or not unless he brings knuckles with him. Knuckles pwns sonic. Sonic was meant for running/racing games, not fighting games. All he can do is run, jump and headbutt people. If they did actually put him in, i would like to see what moves they give him.
