man, u rock!!! very good technique, and i have to opine about triggers, well, the speed appear without interference is just this, are not a trick to be more fast, if you are not fast are not a trigger that will make you be fast, so my congratulations for the video very good !!!\o/
is it possoble to play this without triggers and still be heard? because ive heard George Kollias say if you dont have triggers you wont be able to play death metal...
@TOTALITARIO999 kolias relies a little but to much on triggers but he is still very good, anyway i would say no unless you really work out your muscles around that area
Well I don't normally do this but your statement lacks credence. George Kollias is actually a proponent of not just using taps to fire the triggers. Watch any videos where they showcase his feet and you'll see that the beaters come way back after striking the drum head . By the way, you'd never hear the individual notes playing at 250bpm, never. Thats precisely why they need to use triggers.
@puddynuts i know exactly what triggers do but ive never really seen any videos or anything saying that hes trying to move away from triggers and see what speed he can manage with sufficient sound. whether he does or not i couldnt care.
@HBDEMON in pretty much every video of him from clinics he's done he says that he tries to hit as hard as possible, doesnt like when people tap he says "this is not drumming", and he says he needs triggers so you can distinguish every individual hit so its not just a wall of noise
i would say it's more where on the snare he's playing that's giving him that tone - whetehr you like it or not is more subjective, though egnerally the bounce is better towards the hoop so it could be he's getting an easier ride from it - that is, if his playin method generally uses bounce or relies on rebound: some players, like paul bostaph (for better or worse) say they need the heads to be loose to get speed and power otherwise the sticks feel out of control. maybe review beater distance.
@M3G4G0TH Derek actually tunes his entire drum set low including the snare most people prefer it tight so the rebound of the stick is better for some people but its all preference when playing
NICE

@HBDEMON his hand strokes are kind of weak, that may be the reason too but yea, he sure is fast

@TOTALITARIO999 i can play without triggers but bass drum sound will make sound like 'Oooooooooooo"

wooow dude now thats some superfast, correct, and TIGHT drumming.
holding one foot at this speed is hard, your DB is locked and tight 90% and the only things i have to bitch about are:
-there are tempo switches in the song but it does not matter in that cover. :)
-you NEED more power in the blastbeats, try getting a bigger motion out of it
have a nice day! 4/5 !

@M3G4G0TH tune snare drum stonehard and compress it...... regular snares DOES sound horrible for things like this.....
ollecarlsson 2 years ago
derek's snare is a regular one. :)
dont tell me there is no way of getting a loud , powerful blast beat without a super tightened snare.
or did i miss your point? :/ sry if thats so.. explain again please.

if you like the hate eternal live dvd snare sound, do what i tell you, if you like a cannibal corpse "vile" snare, do not what i tell you.....
