The idea is that is moveable..So you can adjust the intonation correctly to the strings you use, maybe even slant it a bit. I use flat wounds on mine, and i had to move the bridge a bit compared to the standard strings.
the bridge is supposed to be like that. they're called floating bridges, like old school holowbodies. just make sure you tape up where the bridge is supposed to be before you take off the strings.
