@kiribati111 That's not true, getting permission is easy enough when a bottle of vino is offered. Sometimes people are just amazed and pleased at seeing something so interesting and different.
Great Video. Which beach is that and who do I get permission to land there of please? I wanted to land at Newborough on Anglesea but couldn't get permission.
Looks like an amazing sense of freedom to fly a toy like this without being surrounded by so much fuselage that you feel you are shielded from the experience. One thing...how does this come to £26k new? Unless I am missing something a barebones flying machine like this with a few wheels, engine, a basic dashboard, fuel tank and a wing looks like it 'should' cost about £8K - £12K to me. What am I missing?
I'm absolutely sure I will smile alot after flying one but an engine costing $17,000...you have to ask the question...why? An engine on a motorcycle or car will cost roughly $4-6,000 and they are bigger and put out more power so what's with £17k? I've got no idea about the wing though so I'll take your number as given.
Bigger and heavier isn't better. Lighter and reliable. An aircraft engine like the 912 is generating 65 to 85% power continuously whereas car engines only generally are using 10 to 15% of their power and have no weight limit worth mentioning that poses a big challenge. Imagine running your Toyota at 5000 revs all the time. How long do you think it will keep up?
Thanks. Good point about the high output requirements, I hadn't considered that. However you could argue that a low capacity scooter (50cc or so) engine is almost constantly working flat out but why would this add so much to the cost? If it's operating at high revs then it must be well cooled and lubricated but that doesn't explain $17k
The Pegasus quik 912s is capable of cruising at 100mph, mine the 912 does 80mph. I reacon the fuel consuption is about 11 ltrs per hour so 35 MPG approx. To buy a new one costs £26,000
Thanks candid, looks awesome,I just did some research, there are a few regulations which differ from a light-aircraft,your not allowed to fly at night for example, but it looks like total true freedom,seat-of-your-pants flying like the Wright brothers.
dont ask for permissions -you wont get it do it simply!

Rosilli beach near Swansea Airport. You don't need permission to land as long as you are below the high tide mark.

Ive always wanted a microlight after flying in one.
FuriousKnight 2 years ago
Do you need a license to fly these?
RyanPridgeon 3 years ago
Depending on where you are in the world, yes and no.
In the UK, yes, you need a microlight license, in the US a bird that small wouldn't need one.

You are missing -a lot-
The engine alone costs USD 17000, wing USD 8500 and so on but your smile after flying a quality trike = PRICELESS

Yes 50 cc is working so hard and it quits all the time too. Can't have that easily up there. You can't pull to the curb.

Now that looks like what I would like to do!
How fast and how far can one fly?
What would the mileage be configured at? mpg
What is the gallon/liter per hour usage?
By the way, Thanks for the great video!
What is cost (aprox) to buy.

no gliding is much better.
you can soar with only the sound of the wind etc..
badtothebone8888 2 years ago
@badtothebone8888 You can do just that in a microlight in the right weather.
