@Christ4lifeJesus yeah that is true lets also let english die instead you racist it's a nice language and looks like your just jealous you can't speak it
Dublin has to be the most boring and morbid town in the world and people who live there just dont know life or there own self worth its like a prison because almost every bar and food store has arrogant polish security gaurds on them and everyone judges you for simple things like the way you dress act behave walk and talk its SICK get the fuck out and live your life . You cannot express your true self in Dublin because the culture is so extremely different to everywhere.
@OBAMAisHalfCaste HAHA! I'm not having this fight again. May I suggest that you make some friends in real life, so you don't have to fight with people on the internet because you're lonely? And THAT'S the end of it, you sad sad person. :)

yeah, there was humans living in ireland before the celts got there. if any of you guys have been to the newgrange site in meath, ( totally awsome, go if you get a chance!) it was made by the megaliths, not the irish
@ryanboyd72yahoo a megalith is a large stone, so i doubt newgrange was made by megaliths ;) i know why you are confused though....you have no doubt heard newgrange described as a "megalithic tomb" but a megalith is not a person, it means the tomb is constructed out of large stones. whether or not it was built by irish depends on what you define as irish i suppose.
@FayeKelly ya your right, but we don't know the name of the people that built it so we just call them megaliths, because of how they used big stones. and they arn't irish in the way that you and me are(Celtic). they were a whole different ethnicity. but are ancestors killed them all so its all good
What makes you say our ancestors (I assume you mean the Gaels) killed them all?
In the Irish epics, it'a made clear that some tribes are identified as Cruthin, or Fir Bolg, etc
One example is the Gaeiloin who are march to aid Queen Medb in the Tain.
I think it would be more accurate to say that they simply intermingled with the Gaels. On the others hand, genetic studies show the Irish people are overwhelmingly the original people. Therefore it may simply be a change of culture
@Cathain78 yeah, your right about that. exept the celts really did kill a lot of pre europeans becfore finally mixing cultures. and the poeple before the celts would have been completely different in language than the celts. thats what im trying to say.
I'm interested in why you claim that the Celts killed the "pre europeans" (I assume you mean pre Indo-European people). I'm not aware of any evidence to support this. In fact, those genetic studies I mentioned above show that the western atlantic fringe of Europe has the highest rates of a genetic marker which supposedly originated with the original post-Ice Age inhabitants, reaching almost saturation in western Ireland. It seems that the Irish are borne of the original people
@Cathain78 i don't think that the celts killed all of the pre europeans, im trying to tell you that. our irish dna is more non european that european, meaning that were less related to the celts and more related to the people there before the celts. i think your hearing me wrong. im just saying that we got conqured by the celts, and thats why our language is european
Gaeilge isn't the original Irish language - it comes from the Burgundy area, the home of the Celts who invaded Ireland (along with many parts of Northern France, England, Wales, and Scotland) and killed or amalgamated the native Irish. Nobody knows what language the native Irish spoke.

It would be nice to hear you read this ancient Druid poem in Gaelic. I think most born again Celtic Pagans on my page would love to memories this ancient Druid poem in Gaelic. Sincerely when you speak these ancients words in Gaelic, I believe you will experience a very special kind of magic that will reward your soul for ever with a special blessing.

I seem to be wrong because there are irish that dont speak irish that have accents when they speak english.
Well, Chucky, while I admire your love of Irish, your own figures are a wee bit off. Less than 40 million speak Spanish, but most can speak a passable English . I admire you for doing these videos. I only have Gaeilge bhriste myself and it is good just to hear it spoken on YouTube, but no one is perfect and you should really get someone to proofread your English and Irish subtitles before putting them up, there are a lot of misspellings.
For budding gaelgeoiri, you can get a 12,000 word English to Irish translator for your mobile phone just text the word 'focal' to 53503, in Ireland, or to 82222 in the UK.
Still working on getting it available in the States, soon hopefully, let me know if you want to be a beta tester! Trial costs 30c and whatever your operator charges you for downloading a 120k jar file, here are more details on the website getthefocal . com
Brilliant. If I listened carefully, I could understand what you were saying. As long as I know what words like "freisin" "go foill" meant. In Scots, freisin is "cuideachd" and "go foill" is "fhathast".
one of my tutors at University is completing her thesis on how Irish television has encouraged the Irish public to speak Gaelic -- Thank You for posting this because now I know how it was meant to be spoken!

Maybe if you contributed something to the conversation rather than correcting someone else you might achieve more. its people like you that half the majority Ireland in fear of using the now dead language. Thanks.
Sorry but fuck you.... You haven't a fucking clue... I was contributing by helping her get the title right...you can hardly do a video on seachtain na gaeilge when its spelt wrong...
The language isn't dead. There are parts of Ireland, the so called Gaelteach, that have Gaelic speakers in the majority. THe language is in the decline however and I am glad that people are trying to keep it alive
Bhí sé ar dóigh! Tá mé sa dearna bhlian ar scoil agus bhí cuid mhór rudaí ar shiúl! Bhí seo talún, bhí damhsa mór cealaí ann, Lá Glas (Chaith gach duine eadaí glas, ach tá eadaí scoile s'againn glas... erm...) agus trath na gceist! Bhí morshiúl mór an freisin (Tá an fís san 'Related videos' bosca.)
seachtain is a week so why does it last for two weeks? is it something to do with us irish spending st patricks week drunk out of our trees, or that time gets lost during cheltenham festival?
You didn't understand "Hi YouTube!"? ;) I don't like Guinness...I was welcomed to Dublin with two pints of the stuff, and around bedtime I nearly got to drink them again, if you know what I mean... :p

Thank you so much! I've sought an Irish teacher many times with great hopes and it's yielded nothing. Mayhap being situated in Canada isn't a help with that. But it's gratitude that fills me seeing your work and lovely energy with which the messages are delivered. Bliss be yours!

Maybe if you contributed something to the conversation rather than correcting someone else you might achieve more. its people like you that half the majority Ireland in fear of using the now dead language. Thanks.
Seamus616 3 years ago
Sorry but fuck you.... You haven't a fucking clue... I was contributing by helping her get the title right...you can hardly do a video on seachtain na gaeilge when its spelt wrong...
hrehorowjosef 3 years ago
what are you talking about?! It's spelled correctly.
bloopabloopa 3 years ago
The language isn't dead. There are parts of Ireland, the so called Gaelteach, that have Gaelic speakers in the majority. THe language is in the decline however and I am glad that people are trying to keep it alive

You didn't understand "Hi YouTube!"? ;) I don't like Guinness...I was welcomed to Dublin with two pints of the stuff, and around bedtime I nearly got to drink them again, if you know what I mean... :p
Good to see you back in action Jess!

I guess she did say "Hi YouTube". Maybe I'm loving the Guiness too muchr ight now.

Tá sé go h-iontach go bhfuil tú ag spreagadh agus ag scaipeadh an ghaeilge.
An bhfeiceann tú an butúin "seachtaine" in ionad seachtain! An bhfuil níos mó ná seachtain amháin? má tá, tá brón orm :)
