Stock manual and stock auto is a different story coz you've basically for a stock trans-brake and the manual will have better ratios, but you put a 6 speed M against a 6 speed Auto, the auto will kick

Really? It always shifts exactly at redline for me but I use manual anyway. Also, if you use manual and you shift past redline you are losing piwer anyway. Check it out while you drive by pressing down on your d-pad and watch the HP tapper off after redline.

Does anyone know a good way to launch a high powered real wheel muscle car in this game since actual drag slicks are missing? Without using awd conversion?

The game is alot of fun but highly innacurate, everyone knows that RWD cars are the fastest car on the track..but this seems totally gimped towards the muscle crowd....there has to be a way to launch without spinning so dam much.

only reason RWD is faster is because the transmission can handle more power. It is very hard to get an AWD tranny to handle that much power.

But instead of redlining it i'd say find a good rpm to launch at.

AWD is better for down to about 10s. Faster than 10s and a well set up RWD will be better. AWD simply doesnt have the weight transfer like a RWD does. Well, it can, but it would just blow it all out the fronts in the air.

@zoddie If you think that RWDs are always the fastest cars on the track, you need to get to an actual drag strip more often. Its a LOT easier to run a quick ET in an AWD car than it is in an RWD car, so usually, RWD vs AWD, the AWD wins. I say usually because of course there are the monsters on both sides which will kill either, but for street cars, generally the AWD turbo imports beat up on the RWD muscle cars, even on drag radials.

@trowa170 not even, the launching in the drag racing is absolutely terrible in this game. the tree's completely for show, its just a 3-2-1 count and go so reaction time has nothing to do with it, and it gives you about half a second to match the revs, so your most likely launching from full throttle everytime, eh... maybe forza 4 lol cause im not spending the money for a ps3 and gt5 (does it even have drag racing btw?)

The 2002 Honda NSX, I think, has a unique RPM (I don't have the real thing.) In GT4 all the NSX's Redlined before the actual red line, no matter what gear ratios i set. So he might not be in Auto.

Not sure, but there is an 8 lane drag strip (from 1/8th of a mile upto the full mile long variations) and it has no barriers.

So it's basically carnage if you are all in similar speed cars and someone turns over into another lane.
