to me, it looks like a tommy gun piece *which can be bought in one of the new Indiana Jones sets, the one that costs 10 bucks*, one of the pieces where it's a 1x1 brick w/ stud on the side, where the gun barrel goes through the hole, and the barrel, which is a connector for the technic sticks, goes onto the barrel, and a flat 1x1 piece that can hold a rod thing goes onto the bottom of the 1x1 brick w/hole, and a chainsaw part goes on.

i'm a LEGO builder myself, and that's how i think it's done.
