I love Lukla but i dont want to land there (if i'm a pilot)

The runway has an 11.75º incline grade and no PAPI or VASI making a "normal" visual approach look too high. No go arounds, no downrange landings. Topologically induced air turbulence at 9100 ft MSL. Crossing the threshhold in a crosswind at near stall speed in a STOL plane while cresting a windswept cliff and facing a solid rock wall in fog, rain, and freezing air temperatures. Sure! No problem!

It's true! I was there in 2005 and you have to nail in one shot. There is no go-around as you are surrounded on 3 sides by the Himalayan Mountains. If you use too much runway to land, you'll smash into the mountain at the end the landing strip. Plus,if you can get to fullpower on take-off (runway is 1900ft/460m), there's a 2000ft/610m drop off at the end of the runway. That's probably why it's graded at 12%.

@xylotone0110 single runway is 1,500 feet (460 m) long, 65 feet (20 m) wide and has a 12% gradient. The altitude of the airport is 9,100 feet (2,800 m). and last, its the deadliest airport in the world.

@volcom1722 i would feel more comfortable flying by plane, that plane can glide and fly with only 1 engine in case you get an engine failure, but if you are on a helicopter and you're not around the airport while getting the engine failure or other failure you're dead

@cosminx2003 someone knows aeronautics :) i play with a lot of flight simulators and little cessnas and beachplanes can definitely glide at low speed if you fly with flaps
