WOW... I remember when this episode was aired here in Iceland. Me and my mum watched like we always do and i was so nervous during the whole episode. Then he took her down there and I knew what could happen. I was so scared that I could barely watch it. It's a great scene and perfectly played, but very hard to watch.
Mariska and the guy did an amazing job, I can't imagine it's easy to do a scene like that. The guy is a really great actor 'cause I got chills (and still do) just by seeing him!

I love SVU and Olivia. But this proves that some of you don't know her character. She's not gonna let the prick do anything to her. She's gonna fight back, as anyone would. So chill. And Elliot and Olivia are characters. Big deal, that doesn't mean the show is gonna suck any less when Meloni leaves and Hargitay isn't a regular anymore. It's still SVU and I think it's gonna be a season to look forward too, as any other. Case closed.

@MizzyTheQueen hey I just read on Wikipedia that the show is not ending but you are right Stabler is leaving because of a contract dispute with NBC and Mariska Hargitas character will only be in the first 13 episodes of season 13 before getting promoted cause she asked for a lighter workload,she recently adopted a newborn baby girl.I do think you have a point thought it doesnt look good for the series since L&O LA and L&O CI are done but I can have hope I lv SVU its the best in the L&O series.

yeah olivia benson is a bad ass, this is the best one yet. She will go down as the only female cop bad ass of her generation. I watched the girl beat down perps, smack criminals, all who deserved it. Not only that the show its self cover racial issues, issues of other countries, the problem with wrongly convicted people. Everything that they should to show you the justice system is not perfect. And it all starts with Detective Benson.

I'm a member of Johnny's official fansite, and the site is always posting updates for different appearaces on movies/tv shows he has coming up. So far, it doesnt look like he'll be returning to SVU:-( But hey, keep your fingers crossed! He's already done alot of stuff this year;check out his movie "Meet My Mom"

The episode about Olivia's DNA being used in a murder case was actually a show where they brought back a past rapist.Can't recall alot of details, but at the end of a season 11 episode, where Olivia is being framed for murder, a past rapist shows up for revenge in her apartment. He is hysterically yelling at Olivia that years earlier, when she arrested him on rape charges, she had told him how pretty he was and the guys in prison were going to like him.
lol true, but the actor playing the perp in that episode had not appeared in the show before. there's only a couple of instances where a non-main character of the show has appeared in more than one episode/season, but for some reason the actor always ends up playing 2 entirely different people O_o

I guess I just can't imagine the actor being attractive, from his scary character here! (I've never seen him play another part.) But you're right, these are definitely top-notch actors. Mariska Hagirtay's screams are chilling.
I don't think they should bring the character back, though. Olivia's had enough trauma as it is, and considering how little they're willing to engage with coping (from what I've seen so far), they simply wouldn't be able to cover it realistically.

O my God! When I first watched this, I had "the talk" with my parents, so I knew what rape was. But it scared me to the brime. And when I saw this episode, It gave me a visiual of what could happen to me if im not careful. Couldnt speep for nights. Now that Ive seen it so many times, I still get scared, but not as much.
why didn't she win an emmy or a golden globe for this season? She did back in 2005 and 2006, but this performance blew away every other actress on television.
This episode is so epic. Throughout the entire episode and specially the finale, it really makes you care for the episode of Olivia. Great actress too!
I love this episode. It was so amazing and intense. But I don't get why she didn't reveal herself as a police officer, or restrain him when she threw him down on the bed.
becuz he probably would've saw it as a chance to kill her instead of taking his sweet time. she had no weapon, no proof she was a cop, and there's this big guy who's bigger and stronger than she is, i dont think it would've slowed him down, just make him work faster. but for the record, johnny messner is a sexy beast in real life<3 <3

i was really hoping that when the season 9 dvd comes out, that they would have commentary about this episode (alas, it doesnt :-( ) i was hoping that the producers, writers, director or WHOEVER. . .would give us a little idea of what it was like for johnny and mariska to do their scenes together, what they did to prepare and how they stayed in character n stuff like that. . .i was really impressed by both of their performances, johnny's best role in my opinion.

I heard that she asked Johnny Messner (The guy who played Lowell Harris, AKA most infamous villain to ever appear on SVU, even beating out Richard White,) to stay in character the entire day they were shooting the basement scene so that her fear would be more real. I don't know if thats true or not, but if it is then you gotta give Mariska props for dealing with that.

yea, its true, they both stayed in character off camera so that Mariska/Olivia wouldnt have to fake being scared of him. i really wish that they had been interviewed about what it was like to do this episode, but i've been to both of their official websites and found absolutely nada. . -_- it'd be cool if they could write his character back into the show (probably not gonna happen but *shrugs*) he's just so hot!!! <3

He could escape from jail, I think you should email the producers and see what they think or his conviction could be quashed, that's another way of him being in it, I was scared of him and I was only watching it on the tele, x

lol yea, i thought of that. and people have already started fanfictions about him escaping from jail and trying to get revenge on Olivia or if he MAGICALLY somehow ended up having a shorter sentence or like u said, his conviction being overturned. . .sumthin like that lol I was scared of him too the first time i watched it, but i couldnt help but notice that he has very beautiful eyes. .X-P one day i typed in his name on Yahoo images, and i couldnt believe how gorgeous he was/is.O_o

I know his character in SVU wasnt hot, but trust me, in real life, Johnny Messner is EXTREMELY handsome. . .there's alot of ways the character can be written back in, but everyone knows that SVU doesnt really bring back characters from past seasons. but ppl are saying that his character somehow getting out of prison and wanting revenge on olivia could be a possible plot (or sub-plot) in an episode

lol i've seen tons of pictures of him (i'm a member of his fan site) but yea, something about that voice. . .like whenever he's talking, i cant move. . .LOL now as we all know there's NOTHING hot about being a rapist, but you gotta give the man credit for agreeing to play the role, i cant imagine what was going on thru his mind as he was reading the script i mean Will Smith is an amazing actor but i've never seen him play a rapist. . .i dunno, i'm just thinking about the man behind the character

The episode about Olivia's DNA being used in a murder case was actually a show where they brought back a past rapist.Can't recall alot of details, but at the end of a season 11 episode, where Olivia is being framed for murder, a past rapist shows up for revenge in her apartment. He is hysterically yelling at Olivia that years earlier, when she arrested him on rape charges, she had told him how pretty he was and the guys in prison were going to like him.

lol true, but the actor playing the perp in that episode had not appeared in the show before. there's only a couple of instances where a non-main character of the show has appeared in more than one episode/season, but for some reason the actor always ends up playing 2 entirely different people O_o

No we definitely meant the actor not his character, he scared the both of us he is an amazing actor though, I don't think I could have played Livs part the way she did they are all some of the most talented actors on TV, SVU is starting from the beginning on Hallmark TV in the UK which is great I can see it from the beginning now saves me having to buy the box set, i still may have to though, I have only been a fan for a few months, best TV show there is on at the moment, x

I guess I just can't imagine the actor being attractive, from his scary character here! (I've never seen him play another part.) But you're right, these are definitely top-notch actors. Mariska Hagirtay's screams are chilling.
I don't think they should bring the character back, though. Olivia's had enough trauma as it is, and considering how little they're willing to engage with coping (from what I've seen so far), they simply wouldn't be able to cover it realistically.

O my God! When I first watched this, I had "the talk" with my parents, so I knew what rape was. But it scared me to the brime. And when I saw this episode, It gave me a visiual of what could happen to me if im not careful. Couldnt speep for nights. Now that Ive seen it so many times, I still get scared, but not as much.

becuz he probably would've saw it as a chance to kill her instead of taking his sweet time. she had no weapon, no proof she was a cop, and there's this big guy who's bigger and stronger than she is, i dont think it would've slowed him down, just make him work faster. but for the record, johnny messner is a sexy beast in real life<3 <3

i was really hoping that when the season 9 dvd comes out, that they would have commentary about this episode (alas, it doesnt :-( ) i was hoping that the producers, writers, director or WHOEVER. . .would give us a little idea of what it was like for johnny and mariska to do their scenes together, what they did to prepare and how they stayed in character n stuff like that. . .i was really impressed by both of their performances, johnny's best role in my opinion.
